Chapter 23- Transfer Student (Part 1)

Chapter 23- Transfer Student (Part 1)

"Ugh, I feel like I was kicked by a goat in the face," Reo muttered as he put down the OGMA device and sat down on the bed with his hands on his head. For some reason, he was feeling slightly nauseous. This didn't happen to him yesterday when he first tried entering Paradise Online, so it made him suspect that he might be sick.

"Never mind, it's just a small discomfort." He shook his head, and the pain soon drifted away as if it was never there. It was a possible reaction from his brain for working that much.

'I will grow accustomed to it soon.'

After that, he stood up, checked the time, and then went and made his dinner. It was already 11:00 PM, so he needed to go to sleep soon, or he will have to suffer tomorrow. Living in the village for most of his life made him an early riser like every other villager.

"I should ca-" He was about to say that he needed to call Rena to check on her, but the sound of the apartment's phone ringing made him sigh.

"She beat me to it."

He picked up the phone and was about to say something…

"Reo! I have something to tell you now! It's amazing; I can't believe it… I met this goddess, and she gave me a skill, and I seem to be her daughter and, and…"

"Oi, Oi! Calm down, miss. I didn't get anything from what you said. Goddess? Skill? Daughter?" He was confused, but he still tried to understand something from what she said.

Rena seemed to have calmed down after hearing him speak.

"I think it's something I should tell you face to face. I will meet you tomorrow morning, and then we can talk properly."

"Hmm, ok… Good night, Rena."

"Good night!" She said and hung up the phone. He could still feel her chirpy voice lingering in his ears after that.

The next day, he walked out of his apartment to go and meet Rena. But…

"Good morning, Reo! A beautiful day, isn't it?"

Reo froze in his place for a good 5 seconds before he approached Rena and touched her forehead.

"Are you sick? Do you have a fever?"

The girl understood why he asked that and instantly pouted cutely.

"Even I can wake up early from time to time, ok?"

"No, that's just impossible." He replied bluntly with the most serious face he could muster.

"Stop it! Let's go." She punched his shoulder lightly and started walking away.

Roe followed her as he asked.

"So, what is this important matter you wanted to tell me?"

Rena smiled slightly and started recounting what had happened in detail yesterday. Her face turned somewhat grim when she mentioned the group of players that chased her, but she didn't linger on it for a long time.

"Those bastards!" Reo clenched his fist in anger.

The thought that Rena could've potentially been assaulted made him shudder. He can't bear to see her feel uncomfortable, let alone get traumatized from a horrible experience.

"Be careful, Rena. Scumbags are everywhere, and they could target you at any time."

"I know, but this is a rare case." She shrugged her shoulders.

"No, don't underestimate how beautiful you look. It will tempt even the nicest of people." Reo replied seriously as he gazed deep into her eyes.

Somehow, this reply triggered Rena's instincts and made her blush slightly before muttering.

"So, does it tempt you, too?" She asked under her breath, but enough for Reo to hear her clearly.

Their eyes met silently as they tried to read what their minds were thinking of at that moment. It was a very weird yet also nice feeling.

"Uhum… Anyway, continue your story."

Rena didn't try to push him any further and continued. After ending her story, she waited for Reo to digest it. It was way too unbelievable to be accepted immediately.

"Damn, I thought that it could've been a quest, but how did she know your real name? Still, the daughter of a goddess? Time manipulation? It's as if you're the protagonist of some kind of fantasy show."

"I thought so too."

Reo rubbed his chin as he hummed for himself.

"Anyway, let's finish the tutorial first, and then we can talk. Are you close to finding the boss?" He asked.

"Yes, I found a group of girls that wanted a member to raid the boss together, and I think we might beat it tomorrow."

"Good, let's meet inside Paradise Online soon."

Finally, after walking for a while, they reached the high school entrance and entered their class. There was no trace of Oliver or his friends there, so Reo assumed they might still be 'sick' after their small chat.

After passing the swarms of students that kept looking at them as if they were some kind of aliens, they reached the class and sat down in their seats.

By some 'godly miracle,' Rena's seat was next to Reo, so they were basically inseparable the whole day from the moment they met.

"Look, the perfect couple is here."

"They look so dazzling even when they are not doing anything."

"Ugh, I might become bi-sexual just from looking at these two." A random student said in a daze garnering weird looks from his surroundings.

"N-Never mind, ehem. Look, the teacher is here."

The students sat down and looked at their teacher, silently waiting for the lesson to start. However, the man had something else to say.

"We have a transfer student that is coming from a foreign country."

"A foreign transfer student? It's literally the second day of school, and there are already transfer students coming here?" Reo muttered.

"It's normal here. This school is renowned worldwide, so people always transfer here.

"Come in, please, Miss. Ava." The teacher said as he looked at the door.

Then, the door opened gently, and a girl entered inside the classroom. Her first distinct feature was her long, white hair that reassembled the color of snowy mountain peaks in the middle of the winter. Her eyes were a shade of violet, and her figure was tall and curved perfectly. She was so exotically beautiful that even Reo froze for a moment looking at her.

"My name is Ava Valentina; pleased to meet all of you." She said with a small accent that indicated her origin.

A small period of silence was more than enough to unleash a huge reaction after it.

"Woah!! A white-haired beauty!"

"God is good; god is great!"

" We have been blessed with goddesses left and right. Did I hit the jackpot?"

The boys started singing and clapping while the girls fell further into despair. Their egos had taken more hits in the last two days than most people in their entire lives.

"Tsk, another potential enemy." Rena cursed under her breath as she glared at Ava.

For some reason, she didn't like that girl at all. Usually, she never believes in first impressions, but here, she genuinely felt like Ava was like a ticking bomb.

'Why am I feeling like that?' She pondered over her woman instincts.

As for Reo, he just kept looking at her up and down with a weird expression.

"I swear she looks very familiar. But, where did I see her before?" He muttered.

Her hair and general features were not that familiar, but for some reason, her aura resembled someone he had met before. However, he couldn't recall who it was as his memory of remembering faces was not that good.
