The Live of The Coward (2)

Hendra came out of the agency office with his head down. He didn't like crowds, people's stares made him feel uncomfortable. Hendra understood that his face was weird but he had tried to be less conspicuous in the crowd.

Hendra always walked with a bent back to hide his face. His steps were small but fast and he always wore unobtrusive clothes. Like weak animals that live in the wild, Hendra used tactics to look smaller and camouflage with his surroundings so as not to be seen by predators.

However, predators seem to always find him. People's gazes were so penetrating that when they looked at Him it was as if they discovered a rare animal walking in the crowd. Hendra hated the astonishment in their eyes when he passed in front of them. Mainly because he knew that his pig-like face was being ridiculed.

As for those who had seen Hendra before, they had different reactions. They always whispered to each other and then chuckled, or they seemed to scrutinize Him with their eyes from head to toe, so as to confirm that humans with pig faces do exist.

Hendra did not understand why he was not treated like a human. Even though he had a face and ears that resembled a pig, he still walked on two legs, wore clothes, and had black hair.

Hendra always hated crowds.

A taxi stopped in front of Hendra. This taxi had previously been ordered by Him through the application on his cellphone. Because he didn't want to linger at the agency, He ordered a taxi right after Lisa closed their meeting.

This was impolite, especially when Lisa seemed to want to extend their meeting by having lunch together. But Hendra really could not really stand being in a crowd. He always had goosebumps when he felt someone staring at him for more than 5 seconds.

Hendra got into the taxi without being asked first, again he was being impolite. The taxi driver just looked at Hendra who looked as if he was in a hurry in confusion.

"Are you Mr. Hendra?" the taxi driver asked.

"Yes I am, please send me to the location listed in the application," said Hendra briefly.

"Oh, ok sir" the taxi driver smiled seemingly ignoring the curt tone in Hendra's voice.

The wheels of the taxi moved across the paved roads. The agency office was located in the city center while the flat where Hendra lives was located on the outskirts of the city. Actually, Hendra could save money by taking public transportation such as trains or buses. However, once more he can't stand being in a crowded place.

This was also why Hendra chose to live in the suburbs. Although the city center was relatively far, the area where he lives does not have a lot of turmoil and commotion like in the city. For Hendra tranquility was more important than access to shopping complexes such as malls.

"Are you working in that building sir?" the taxi driver asked in a light tone.

It appeared that the driver wanted to start a conversation with his passenger but didn't know where to begin. So he chose the most common opening for a conversation. A question with an obvious answer.

Looking at the face of the taxi driver who was smiling, Hendra cursed his luck. He just cleared up his throat and groaned: "hmm" {Please don't start a conversation you boring old man}

But not taking Hendra's feelings into account, the taxi driver started chattering "Oh.. you work in a big company, right? I've never received a customer order from that company, it seems that all the employees have a lot of money so they can buy a vehicle. Hahaha, I'm sure of that it must be because the building is so big..."

Hendra tried hard to show how uncomfortable he was by conveying it with his facial expression. He didn't care if his pig-like face would look even more disgusting. He just wanted a quiet ride home after having to face Lisa a few minutes earlier.

However, the taxi driver really didn't see his uncomfortable expression and continued to chatter. Hendra could only give in and answer question after question. The taxi driver was very excited when he answered.

"blablabla... How long have you worked there?"

"hmmm" {please stop}

"blablabla... Are there many beautiful women in your workplace?"

"hm!" {are you not tired?}

"blablabla ... Do you already have a partner?"

"hm!!" {none of your business!!}

"blablabla ... I have a daughter who is as old as you, she is very beautiful, even though my life is like this, she graduated from blablabla university"

"Hm!!" {WE DON'T FUCKING CARE!!}

"blablabla... if you want I can give you her cell phone number.. ah! we have arrived!"

As if he found the door to heaven, Hendra immediately opened the taxi door and ran away without saying thank you to the talkative taxi driver. He didn't have to worry about the taxi fare because the application he used will automatically deduct the sum of money owed from the application when he arrives at his destination.

Seeing Hendra running as if he was being chased by a ghost the taxi driver smiled and thought 'did I just meet a shy model?'

Hendra ran up the stairs to his flat room but when he saw the woman standing in front of the door, He cursed his luck again.

"Hendra, where have you been? I rang the bell but you didn't answer!" Rose stood with both hands on her waist.

Her wavy dark golden blonde hair fell down to her waist. This reminded him of the girls who bullied him in middle school. Her wide black eyes looked at Him with suspicion like a wife who caught her husband having an affair, but for Hendra that gaze was full of distrust and suspicion like an old woman seeing a punk. Hendra was sure that whatever he did would be wrong in front of those eyes.

She wore a pink tank top that didn't cover her cleavage and short white pants that didn't cover her thighs. Hendra didn't know where Rose was from but if she wore this dress in his village then she would be stoned by the old aunties because she would be deemed to have dressed inappropriately.

(A/N: Rose POV)

Rose's flat was only a few rooms from his place but she was wearing makeup and lipstick like she was going to a party. Hendra did not understand why an unemployed person who basically lived on flat payments had to dress up like this.

Hendra suspected that Rose was in love with someone who lived in this flat and that someone really hated him because she always comes and disturbs his quiet life.

'I feel like she never has any problems with other flat occupants, it must be that she just doesn't like my pig face.' {whoever Rose likes I hope he has a boil on his ass}

"I just got back from the agency, what do you need from me?" Hendra answered cautiously like a lion tamer meeting a fierce lioness.

"Agency? Did you meet that slut Lisa in there?" Rose's wide eyes became wider upon hearing the word 'agency'. She stepped forward very quickly which surprised Hendra that he had to take a step back.

Like a wild animal identifying its prey, Rose sniffed Hendra's clothes closely; this action made his heart beat faster. As Cold sweat dripped down his forehead.

'Please don't eat me Please don't eat me Please don't eat me' Hendra prayed in his heart.

Like a mouse meeting a cat, Hendra was frozen and could not move an inch.

Rose was satisfied with her discovery and stood up straight again. Rose crossed her arms and snorted from her nose "hmm... It's good that you don't smell like that slut. Hendra, you are so stupid that you don't know anything about that dangerous woman. Stop being so innocent and use your tiny brain a little!"

Hendra could smell flowers from Rose's breath "Yeah.. thank you Rose" {Are flowers part of your diet?} Hendra tried hard not to stand out and invite the anger of the lioness in front of him. He had forgotten that he had just been called stupid twice by Rose. Taking Revenge against a lioness like Rose was tantamount to suicide.

"It's Good that you understand!" Rose nodded with satisfaction. A sweet smile bloomed on her pink lips.

With a voice full of doubt and caution he asked "eee... Can I pass? I want to enter my flat, I still have a job to do" {are you done torturing us? We want to rest and forget this cursed day}

"Of course, you can!" Rose shifted aside and made way, allowing access to the door of his flat.

"Thank you" {What kind of grudge do you have against us?} With his head bowed gratefully Hendra unlocked the door and entered his room.

Rose waited for Hendra to close the door then she returned to her room with light steps, her heart full of joy as this was a happy day.

Hendra made sure the door was locked before turning around and trying to control his still racing heart. He truly felt like he narrowly escaped death today. Hendra promised not to leave the house for a whole month.

After his heart calmed down, Hendra walked to his bed.

The flat where he lives was quite large. With 3 rooms, namely the study, bedroom, and bathroom. The flat did not have a kitchen and there was only a hallway at the entrance which had a stove and some cooking utensils. After passing through the hallway there was a living room which is a room for watching TV. The living room was connected to a large window that had a veranda where he usually hangs his clothes.

Hendra did not have furniture such as photos, vases, mirrors, or paintings in his house. There were only things he used for his daily life. He didn't even change the paint on the walls or add any decorations to the flat. When He moves later, he would only need to bring a suitcase containing his clothes and work equipment.

Even so, the state of his flat is very clean. It's not that he has OCD or likes cleanliness but that he doesn't want to get sick from germs in a dirty place. If he falls ill then he has to go to the doctor or hospital which means he has to be in a crowd again.

Hendra jumped on the bed and closed his eyes. His body felt tired, not because of physical activity but from social activities. Hendra hoped that his next job would not allow him to meet humans for a long time.
