Chapter 4: Tanaka Yumi

"Are you not going to move big guy?"

Org doesn't seem to hear me as he heaves a bit, sucking in a large amount of air with each gasp.

I guess that's fine, I just hope that magic spell has completely worn down his stamina. It seems I can only see his status window when we first come into contact with each other.

Unlike the other stats mana is specifically measured by units. The other stats do not feel as rigid, I suspect that the stat point system isn't linear but exponential.

It would make sense considering how much more durable these monsters are then humans despite them not having much higher stats than us.

If the stat point system for mana is specifically measured in units then it would make sense that Org is exhausted.

A magic spell might have a minimum of mana necessary for it to be casted. If my hypothesis is true than Org most likely used a spell that needed at least 10 units of mana and this caused him to stop everything so he could rest.

Unfortunately I can't take advantage of this, even with a base strength stat of 15 I definitely won't be able to kill Org. The only option is to try and raise my stats even higher before he completely recovers and one shots me.

Since that is the case I need to immediately use these free stat points.

[Agility has increased to 20.]

The strange popping feeling spreads throughout my body again and I feel as if my body has once again lost weight.

Out of the corner of my vision Org does something extremely uncharacteristic of him. He stops standing on his feet and sits down on the ground with his hands balled together in the middle of his lap with closed eyes, seemingly focusing on something.

[The effects of Goblin General have been implemented.]

"What! What is that?"

The loud screams of a woman attract everyone's attention to one of the corners of the clearing exposed to the forest.

Out of the hidden shade of the trees a peculiar creature steps out of the shadows. It has light brown skin and a squarish face that has two flapping ears attached to the sides of them.

It wears full body dark metallic armor and carries a dull axe in it's it's hands. Two large tusks stick out from the bottom of it's large mouth to the top of it's thick nose.

"Hhhpphrrmm."

It lets out a strange snort before raising it's large axe with one hand and chopping the woman in front of him straight in half.

Her body falls apart in two halves, the horrified expression still spread across her now torn face.

"AHH!"

"Run! There is more of them!"

Sure enough, thirty to forty monsters of the same species emerge from the forest, each of them with a strange look in their absent minded eyes.

Of course that's not what I cared about.

Those weapons in their hands...if I could get one of those fighting would be much easier. I wouldn't need to struggle just to kill a couple of monsters.

It would seem that the monsters that came earlier weren't influenced by Org at all. Which makes sense, Org wasn't here at the beginning and only spawned about 10-15 minutes after the tutorial actually started.

If so than why would these monsters be so murder happy, they came out of no where the second I woke up so what is going on?

"All of you stay back!"

A familiar girl goes running through the mob of humanoid pig monsters, bobbing and weaving with smoke coming out of her mouth, nose and ears. Everytime a monster hit her she simply turned to smoke and reformed later.

Interesting, I wonder for how long she can keep up this endeavor. It must be exhausting considering she most likely has less stats points than me, someone who cheated by using the boss.

I wonder whether her awakening relies on stamina or mana. It's unfortunate that I can't see individual people's status windows, just the bosses.

Regardless this is a good opportunity, I have a literal smokescreen to cloud my movements.

I run through the crowd and quickly arrive at the corner of the clearing thanks to my 20 agility stat.

Surprisingly, this little girl has been able to kill some pig monsters, not with some type of weapon like me but by turning her hands into smoke and putting them up to their faces, successfully suffocating them go death.

"Hah, hah, hah."

Her tired breaths continue to deepen as she stands before another monster who puts two large holes in her stomach with it's fast swings.

I hold my stick high above my head and aim it straight at the monster's face. It's figure slowly moves the axe down towards the girls neck as I throw my stick full force at the monster's skull.

The stick flies through the air and slams into the side of it's head with a loud cracking sound as it breaks past through it's skin, skull, brain and back through it's skull on the other side.

Unfortunately the stick finally breaks into two once impact is made.

[One hyloch has been killed. 10 exp has been awarded.]

The girl turns around in surprise. Once she sees me a strange conflicting look of vigilance and gratitude spreads over her.

"Uh, thank you for helping me sir?"

"Oh you shouldn't thank me kid, you obviously didn't need help."

I graze my finger over the heavy axe, it's fairly big, maybe around 5 feet. It only has a blade on one side but two spikes are attached to the other side making it somewhat more versatile.

[Battle Axe (Common)]

[This weapon has an attack bonus of +5.]

I look back to the girl and see she's a bit nervous, despite her ability to turn into smoke she has a bit of blood dripping down from her ripped sleeve and her nose is slightly bleeding.

She probably has to consciously activate her awakening unlike mine where it's permanently activated.

"Would you like some help fighting, or should we go separately?"

"Ah!"

She seems a bit embarrassed by her impolite behavior as a small blush appears on her face.

"I'm sorry, please help me. I'd very much appreciate your assistance."

The cold leather feeling of the handle spreads to my hands as I pull the axe off the ground and grip it with my left hand while I extend my right hand to her for a handshake.

"I apologize if I scared you with that attack, my name is Kohaku."

She returns the gesture with a slightly more confident but still frightened face.

"My name is Yumi, Tanaka Yumi."
