Chapter 105: The Hidden Treasure (3)

|My update schedule is now 10-12 chapters a week, I'm starting to have a migraine of a schedule, and so I'm prioritizing my health a bit instead of posting 14-15 chapters a week like when I started.|

Perseus POV

"Did you just say 65 million bels?"

"Sir, there are so many people who would kill for the limited spot our authorities allow so that it won't get crowded, this is the minimum price I can give you." the receptionist replied nervously

No one dared to raise an outrageous price against me now that they have heard the fact I beat up everyone of the heroes, but even still, 65 million person is a ridiculous price.

I know I got a lot of money, but 65 million is too much, I can't afford that without throwing away most of my money, you might say that this treasure is worth a lot more than that, but I can't waste too much time on this before moving to the other things, so there's a chance that I might never get this treasure.

"Alright, who's the boss?"

She's the only one on duty and the sole person at work, so it took her a while for her to get in contact with the biggest boss. This old guy came to greet us out who led us to his private office and the rose guardians checked that we're safe and not being watched.

No need for his introductions. I then activated my powers.

"Give us the license and write it up nicely. Be sure to also think of a good excuse for why you give this to us and lie that we paid you properly."

*****

65 million just for most people to give up, ridiculous, and that's the actual minimum, no wonder the people on top are super rich, apparently the guy who gave us these licenses was supposed to get a good cut of it as well so he's incentivized for advertising it.

But even then, there aren't a lot of investigations or records checking when someone buy it so even criminals can get their hand on it, so we'll get away with it since when people ask that guy did we pay for it or not, he'll probably have some corrupt money under the table as back up if it comes down to it.

Well we all now at least got our license t explore that thing, so we then made our way there since we can get first hand information from the experts who's been wasting their money over there for years, this license last only for 2 years, and those who keeps renewing this stuff are just throwing away good money.

They might also know about the fallen star, so that's good. I asked for a bit of directions and we then headed into the desert, it was hot as hell, luckily magic exist, so people of this world don't struggle too much if they can pretty much cool themselves down at will.

Sure enough though, people recognized who I am and many didn't really want to help me if they can help it, I defeated the so called heroes after all, who they all worship as their saviors, but of of fear, they did. But even then, some were nice enough to give me tips and warning.

One of which was the faction very famous in the southern continent. It was the anti magic cult, a following of people who believe in stopping the use of magic, funnily enough this cult is tied with the history of the heroes.

They believe in God with the capital G, you know as in the one true god and all that religious stuff that was brought about several religious believers among the few heroes in the past, kinda reminds me of world war 4 all over again since religion was the cause of all that stuff.

But apparently the stories that were told to them appeal to them so much, plus the discrimination people face when they are born with no magic, well it easily turned from just a respectful religious following to a cult, and people in the southern continent are careful to not provoke those guys.

And their base is hidden somewhere in the desert where they have enslaved certain mages to help hide it and cool their base down based on reports from a whistleblower, they hate the existence of the heroes, so you'd think they'll like me who use the power of the roses over magic sometimes and just beat the heroes, but they condemn demons and those who possess demon blood as much as they condemn magic.

The heroes possess a lot of influence throughout history, like the fact that the 4th biggest religious following in the southern continent is the so called 'god worshippers' which comes after the summer god, the sun goddess and the moon god respectively. Even though the number is vastly different between 3rd and 4th place.

I've been told to look out for them especially when I go figure out this temple, a few of the archeologists are apparently a part of it and are trying to get this treasure in order to empower their cult and become a big powerhouse in not just the south continent but in the world.

So the east have racists and the south have an anti magic cult, the west have hybrids who look completely human and the north...I haven't learn much about the north yet apart from the fact that I went there so I can find Leilah.

And we then arrived at the temple which is basically a giant steel pyramid, every archeologist near the entrance of the temple are all using magic to cool themselves down while having their resting tent at a good distance away due to this temple reflecting heat.

And sure enough there are cursive English writings at the entrance which a lot of the people in this world no longer know how to read, well protagonist luck, find someone useful who'll get me into the temple and then will try to stab me in the back once we reach the final stage.
