Chapter 128: Saber (3)

Perseus POV

"I can stop if you give me information about the fallen star, or continue if you actually want some therapy." I offered

The room then started to heat up, the man was practically boiling while he was glaring at me, man, if Lilith wasn't here, I wouldn't have said any of that. Surprised that I haven't got slapped yet, though, he's at least quick enough to do that.

"I'm not like you mortals." he said after a while

"Is it? The 4 seasonal gods have their own continent to manage, but wouldn't it be more efficient to have all 4 gods manage all 4 at the same time covering each other's fault and improve things as a whole? Maple always is cautious to avoid stepping on the other continents even though she doesn't seem to be the type to dislike visitors...

"Perhaps...of course all of this is my speculation...you all got prideful egos since you're all gods, thinking that you're better than the other, maybe? Without your parents to help, you thought about who should take the leadership role and managed the group, but none of you could decide, so instead, you distant yourselves, correct?"

Saber stood silent in rage while Lilith gave a smirk signaling that I got this correct or at least most of it is. Lilith got her own 2 large continents since she's the strongest, Tehios, well, gods can't influence everything and everyone, they hate the fact that Tehios had both demons and humans, I'm guessing.

Even when Tehios didn't have coexistence, if they try to erase the demons, Lilith would step in, and since the continent sort of sat in the middle separating the predominant human continents and demon continents, they either left it be or probably let the people decide, which god got worshipped more have the rights to it, but it seems about equal.

"And the prideful ego on your end...hah, you're more similar to Lilith than I thought."

"Huh?" Now it's Lilith turn to be surprised

"She was a bit envious of Leilah, similar looks, similar characteristics, having all the praise she couldn't receive even if she were to do just as good...while she lived in Leilah's shadow, you lived under your dad's shadow, it all make sense."

"No." he shook his head and said softly "No, you're wrong."

"He is the god of war, you're his supposed successor, but you're weaker, you're not as smart, you're not as strong...you then start thinking-"

"No, that is not what happened." he denied

"You start to say 'It's only because he was born first', 'it's because he had more time'...you then saw the respect he received by the masses. And the idea of you being a successor wasn't brought up by your family, but by us so called mortals, you then wanted to live up to the expectation.

"You developed an inferior complex, and you fear rejection from others since you can't live up to the title of successor, that's when it start, I reckon, it helps you to kind of reject others before they can reject you. Even if they reject you later, you can say that you never really cared about their acceptance. You can say you never really thought much of them because you had already rejected them. This was to protect your ego.

"The truth, however, is that you cared a lot about their approval and were afraid of their rejection. And...you wanted attention, you started wearing flashy items, bright golden armor, sleeping in fancy beds, showing off wealth...arrogant people care a lot about others' approval. If they didn't, who would they boast to?

"But then...your arrogance developed into something twisted...you wanted to surpass your dad, but you had to be equal first, and now...how will you get that status?...You realized, he's one of 2, and you turned to your mother.

"Your inferiority complex, your want to be the best, your frustration...no normal person in this situation would lead to this scenario...but for you, you thought about having your mother for yourself, steal what your father have, if you can demote your father, you have a chance of rising to the top, if you can have her on your side, you can be the best, and this obsession might somehow developed into..."

I'm not gonna finished that sentence cuz it sort of disgust me if it's not just obsession, incestual feelings isn't something I studied, this is just speculations, I can't really 100% sure that I'm completely correct, but I know I got some right, it's messed up, no normal person can become like that, but gods?

They were born during the times of little laws and where ethics and morality isn't as discussed...

"So even if we factor in that disgusting latter bit about our mother, why he can't be the leader is because of him no longer wanting to be at a lower pecking order?" Ruka questioned

"Add in the part of him trying to be something he's not. Yes, he also see the other gods as competition for the spot on top, so he blamed and insult his competitors to get ahead. I don't know about the other seasonal gods excluding Maple, but this is the case for Saber."

He saw Lilith as a competitor and an easy target, she didn't received much attention, and even being a god of weapons with the supposed title as his father's successor, Lilith was stronger than him, so he took it out on her since she was alone and different from others.

Without a word, Saber furiously erupted into flames and left my room, I didn't even get the information about the star unfortunately.

"Thanks for somehow having my back." Lilith said "But this talking ability of yours is scary, you managed to use my situation to somehow figured him out."

"Well, just be lucky I didn't even study psychology, I only know the basics by experiencing years of therapy. I picked up a couple thing or 2 when I was in group therapy.

"By the way, do you know how to find the fallen star?"

Saber left before he could tell me any info, so I turned to the general who may got a stronger hidden information network.

"I got rumors, if that's what you want." Lilith offered

"Shoot."

"Short and simple, there should be a hidden tribe living in the desert who knows about it more than anyone apart from Saber who probably knows the exact spot, they've kept the information safe and pass it on through generations."
