Chapter 142: Powers (2)

Perseus POV

Why don't I just let fate play itself out? At this point, I'm too fucking stresses, this is like college all over again, assignments everyday, averaging 5 hours of sleep at best, investing in scams known as textbooks, like why the fuck does it cost a 100 bucks for something I'll only use for 4 months at best.

No wonder students party and drink all the time, cuz that's the only way they'll ever get any enjoyment, maybe I should stop training and just laze at home, I got money, I got a loving woman, I'm already set for life, let the demon lord and heroes kill themselves, let Cain fight God and create more pages for the future bible.

Or maybe I'll just go hunt goblins, that sounds nice,(spoiler alert) the guy practically saved the hero by killing goblins whom then later on kill the demon lord and-

|Censored. That's enough.|

We can just change the title to 'that time I retire at 15 to sleep in my house because I'm tired and want to actually live my life.'

"Since I wasted your time, do you want me to deliver a message to someone for you?" Dawn asked "You can give people the relief of you being somewhat happy on the other side."

"No, just let them think I'm dead, it's better for everyone if they do, don't tell me updates either, I seriously don't care what happens in this world. I'll learn them when I come in the future."

"This world is very peaceful, you know, compared to over there."

"I don't know about that, I'm spied on in this world and my new world, well, I just angered Saber who might blast me into oblivion at any second."

"Oh, how many of my family have you met?"

"More than enough, luckily Maple is enough to calm him down, but I seriously don't know how long that effect would last?"

"I'm curious, are you just aiming for all female members of my family or something?" she asked "Like this is too much of a coincidence?"

"I don't know why we're brought together either." I then breathe out a sigh "Now, the big question, why'd you abandon your previous world? And what happened to all the gods of this world? Where did they go?"

"How would you like immortality?" she asked "Humans talk about it all the time."

"I want to live long, but not forever."

"Exactly, gods have either long forgotten their purpose or lost it as a whole, they live in a universe where people can thrive without intervention, they all simply stepped down from immortality." she answered and watch this old man illegally feeding the local birds "Living for so long, everything becomes sort of dull, you see everything, you know everything...well almost everything, I'm not that smart...

"It's partially why I left, I wasn't really needed apart from the fact that I was a being or worship...I then saw people theorizing about possibilities of dimensions and other worlds, I was finally excited after a long time, I jumped ship at the chance when I discovered it not just being a possibility.

"My previous lover followed me here, and we had fun for the most part." she laughed "You people here are much more powerless, it's incredibly interesting to see what you all can do with so little."

Gods stepped down from immortality...that sounds a bit too easy, if most step down, won't the malicious ones try to take over the world or something? And won't the universe just create other gods as time goes on? From the looks of it, gods are a scarce endangered species.

"Let me guess, envy just runs in the family, you feel empty inside and as time goes on, you realize that the world don't really need you, and so in your mind, you think of yourself as worthless, but us mortals, especially the ones here, they live and die so fast, they have nothing compared to you.

"Yet we accomplished so much more with so much lesser time, you and the rest of the gods, started to yearn for that feeling. 'Is my purpose really the god of this and that?', 'what have I really accomplished?'...Mortals especially humans, so powerless, so less time, yet they've advanced so much compared to you who lived for centuries.

"The answer was simple, mortals have all to lose, our life is short, so we work ourselves to the bone to leave a trace in history, you gods don't have that, you live forever, you have everything, so how will you accomplish anything if you've already done it and seen it all?

"First you are scared of what mortals can do, they you start envying them...Maybe if I not just walk amongst them, but become one of them, maybe I'll achieve the happiness to find my purpose...that's all I can think of for now, we can have this discussion another day if you want."

"Meira always likes every time you go on that airheaded rant, you just say whatever." Dawn commented "Even though you're cheerful, you usually don't talk a lot, and even if you do, it's usually nonsense."

"I'm pretty talkative."

"Well you usually are quiet since your preference of wanting to be alone most of the time."

"I still do that, I take a 1-2 hour break every now and then just to have time for myself...By the way, I'm gonna contradict myself about not wanting updates, but how is she?"

"Married with 3 kids, you aren't jealous, are you?" she asked

"Nah, it wasn't really going to work out, she doesn't even know the full extend of my past, I once told her a story which I substituted actual people with fictional characters, I spotted disgust and fear, and with my lack of privacy, I can't really subject her to be with me, that's why I broke it off after a while."

"I know, you spoke of it a lot during your sessions." Dawn responded

"And that doesn't sound weird to you, listening to someone's therapy?"

"You also had agents listening in during your early sessions." she pointed out
