Perseus POV
As I got back from my activity, there seem to be 3 people waiting for me near where I was staying, both from different factions and it seems that they are waiting for me in awkward silence, so I make an effort of walking slower just to prolong that awkward silence. It was Edward and the purple rose duo.
Wait, should I even meet them? I can just...I shadow-traveled into the hotel and appeared right behind grandpa Laker's back who told me that I had guests waiting in front of the hotel.
"Oh, I ignored them and come here."
"You sure are rude to your guests." he grumbled
"But I don't wanna talk with em, one wants to recruit me and the other wants to slap the shit out of me and then possibly recruit me."
"Why would the demon general want to recruit you if you reject a direct offer from the demon lord himself?" he asked
"More incentives perhaps, besides, I've shown that I can unlock my demon side fully, I'm like the cream of the crop, the demons would go wild if I were to turn over to their side."
"Aren't you going out with one?" he questioned "That already makes you look like you're on their side, even if it's not officially."
"I am, but we keep politics or any other stuff out so that we can just enjoy whatever the other has to offer." I shrugged "As for Edward, he's been coming at me with a lot of offers, but I'm not really swayed since his father isn't that convinced that I am worth as much as the demons think. Edward's a great guy though, he got a good heart."
"You talk like an old man, 'he got a good heart.'" he quoted "And why'd you buy hash browns earlier if you weren't gonna eat em?"
After our short talk in the lobby, he excused himself to go do some shopping and maybe check in with Rolan for a bit even though I recommend him to not do so, I had Buddy follow him secretly as well, just in case anything goes wrong, Rolan should loathe me right about now and him being my grandfather would not be someone who Rolan want to see right about now.
I got to my room and read the news article about me, it seems that they nicknamed me 'the demon lord of Paradis', not gonna lie, it sounds super cringe and this is coming from the guy who uses the word 'cringe'. Demon nobles are publicly expressing their interest in recruiting me, and it seems that the tension is as sharp as ever.
The human side has not made any comments, but I have no doubt that they will soon come with the saint and heroes to recruit me sooner or later and this time, they'll offer me around the same value.
I miss TVs, I don't use them much compared to my laptop or phone, but I'm starting to get bored of reading, there's like nothing else to do, fighting to me has gotten stale, and watching them are only for my purpose of gauging people's strength.
When I get to the other world, I'll be sure to steal blueprints for phones and other electronics, with the massive amount of natural resources and with magic's ability to create some out of thin air, I can have a lot of fun then.
We got a knock at our door and Leilah went to open it and I can see the pissed-off Amethyst and Roxa, it's kinda funny cuz with mana expelling out of their body, it sort of looks like they're literally fuming from the ears.
"The audacity of- damn it." Amethyst pointed and me and then took a few deep breaths
"Let it out, my family are out exploring, I'm just resting."
"You left me out there standing near that orange-headed idiot, I knew I sensed you disappearing, I'll kill you next time you do that again."
"Ehhhh...you have feelings, that's new."
"Seriously, what do you see in this guy, Leilah?" Amethyst turned to Leilah, who was now sitting right next to me clinging onto my arms "Why do you share the same taste with that loose bitch over there?!"
"Loose bitch?" Lilith muttered
"Was I wrong?" Amethyst continued as Roxa just pulled her back and whispered a couple of things which calmed her down slightly
"If you're here to recruit me, don't, I'll reject it."
"Why?" Roxa asked "You seem to be in a relationship with my fellow general, won't it benefit both sides if you just come over to our side?"
"Look, I don't like fighting anymore, you know, getting dirty with blood splattered across your face while your opponents beg for mercy as they got a family at home, while you have no choice but to kill them in the midst of war since they can come back for revenge at any time...thanks, but no thanks.
"Besides, what will happen to the losing side, will you commit genocide and enslaved those who survive?" I asked "The fact that a war is a sure and upcoming event is ridiculous in the first place, why can't we all just sit down and have a talk, over some coffee or something."
"Tell that to the 4 continents, they started it." Roxa countered "We have no choice but to retaliate, and when it comes to war, there will be sides, you aren't escaping out of that then, your village won't be safe."
"The side I pick is my own, I have no interest in war unless it has certain benefits coming my way and this war doesn't, y'all fighting just to show the other who's the superior race, there's no point in that. Racism exists, conflict does too, but the fact that y'all are ding it pisses me off."
"Your girlfriend over there is a participant, shouldn't you be angry at her too?" Roxa pointed at Lilith
"Don't worry, I'll make sure to keep her out of it by then."
