Chapter 231: Stop Skating

|This schedule should continue only for one more week, I'll try to upload 5-6 a week, but I got the exams and my birthday coming up, past chapters were pre-written a couple days beforehand in bulk, and this one is written today, but I can assure you afterward that I should have enough free time to go back to my normal 8-10(or slightly) more chapters a week.|

Perseus POV

The queen of the northern continent was invited to ring the bell and once the match started, my opponent charged at me faster than anyone I've fought with in my life, and yes, the chief is included as well, but he's way past his prime, so I'll also take it into account that he may be faster.

With her reach as well, it seems that it was the right decision to stick with Lucifer's light-speed ability, my regular speed definitely can't match with that, and her fighting style somewhat resembled that knight in the desert, even though she's quicker on her feet, her hands were slower, so that gave me some openings.

I tried to break her spear with my gauntlets as well when I managed to grab it, but it was harder than I thought, it will take a while to snap it even though my gauntlets are of much better quality.

As soon as I got close, she would inject mana into her spear and the spear has this sort of explosion that released some smog and she would use that to her advantage as I tried to get some distance while she did the same, she thrives in a long and medium range fight and her spear was made for that.

The smog was flammable as well so once she gets to a certain distance, she'll shoot a quick fireball in its direction and start a fiery explosion every time. She isn't trying to end this quickly even though her talents would specialize in that, she's trying to draw out time and win with endurance.

Kinda stupid for her since her moves would tire her out, but I guess she's also depending on me to tire out first, the aftermath of my fight with the knight in the desert didn't help as my overuse of my ability to manipulate light gave me a terrible fever.

I then summon up storms of blue rose petals to swirl around the arena, especially near the walls and I had it expand to help close us in, imagine it as one of those zones in a battle royale game, that's what I'm trying to do.

My opponent saw this and started to shoot out a lot of spells, she even flooded the arena before using ice magic to freeze the ground and making it slippery, which should bad for both of us since we'll need to be cautious when we go fast, a slip might result in a really bad injury.

I tried to slowly break and released heat waves off my body using magic, but the hot and cold air mixed with the storm of roses caused the air to swirl and might end both of us up in a tornado, so I stopped and think of other plans to counter this.

it's not like I haven't taken into account that someone might freeze the floor, but when I was about to enact a counter, she charged at me with skates, she was fucking skating on the ice and using the sharp blades under her shoes to try and cut me every time she jumps.

"You might need to reconsider your career, you either need to stop fighting or stop skating."

"Thank you." she replied

"Wasn't a compliment."

She didn't even have skates when we started, this woman prepared for this, her feet were now quicker than before, and that made her even more difficult to fight with than before, her speed was faster on ice, I stomped and broke the ice, but that gave me a split moment of having one foot stuck in ice while the other unstable, in the split second, she can try to get close and cut me down or shoot a spell after jumping in the air before freezing the ground again before landing on it.

"You're being quite a pest."

"That's what I do best," she then gave off a chuckle once she saw that the storm of rose now closed both of us in where we were like 10 m away from each other "It seems that my skates ad my plan will take a hit the closer we are to each other."

"That's the plan."

I don't think I can close it in any further, I might even open up a bit more because I might need some distance as well.

Her skating tactic works better with a larger area, she skates away or charges in with super quick speed, and her quick reflexes were also a dangerous weapon. I then manipulate the light and heat in the surroundings and pulled them into the arena and once they all mesh together, they'll intensify the temperature.

It's starting to get hot now and the ice was melting faster than she can freeze it and she then clade her skating blades with mana, she kicked them in my direction and her skates got separated and flew at me, I used my ability to dodge in between them and once I turned my head, I can see her charging at me in slow motion.

I gathered up the light into the tip of my finger and shoot a thin and most dense light beam that grazed her heart in the blink of an eye, I can't kill after all, so hopefully that was enough to get the ref to stop the fight.

As everything started to move at normal speed again, the crowd sees my opponent stopping midair and falling toward the ground with a hole in her chest and bleeding profusely so the ref stepped in and immediately heal her while announcing my victory.

She was definitely the most annoying opponent I fought so far, can't believe someone managed to find a way to fight me while beautifully skating at the same time.
