Chapter 316: He's Asking For It (2)

3rd Person POV

Rolan was angry, and he was also bewildered at the situation he was in, as he was now held under house arrest in a lavish room within the Urgess' luxurious manor.

Guards and mages were standing by the entrance, their eyes were watchful, making sure he doesn't escape. The room itself is adorned with fancy furniture and intricate tapestries, a stark contrast to the tense atmosphere within.

The tense atmosphere, of course, came from the one man inside. After the accusation, despite the doubt against him being the actual culprit, hero or not, he will have to be held until they are completely sure of his innocence.

Many nobles were against this decision, to hold a hero captive is a dishonor to the millions of lives that were used to summon the hero. And there were many testimonies against him being anywhere close to Zoris at the time of the incident.

But even so, they can never be too sure, there were also factions amongst the nobles that wanted to slow down Rolan's progress as his family influences is quickly surpassing every other family, that family housed and birthed a hero or a half-hero.

They wanted to slow down this spread of influence till the other heroes grow to be equal in power so that the Urgess will drop to their regular status and give the other families more opportunities as currently, the Urgess are the only ones who are getting more favored trades and opportunities.

Rolan POV

Why does everything always seem to go wrong for me? I never wanted any of this, yet here I am, falsely accused and trapped like a common criminal.

This lavish manor is a mockery of my current situation. All this luxury, but it's nothing more than a birdcage. I should be out there, helping the investigation to prove my innocence or at least participating in the war as the leader of the heroes, not wasting away inside these walls.

|Author's Note: Apparently birdcage is one word, I never knew that. I always spelled them as 2 words. You learn new things everyday.|

And those guards! They watch my every move, their eyes filled with suspicion. It's as if they're waiting for me to make a mistake, to give them a reason to condemn me further and get bonuses. They don't care about the truth; they just want someone to blame.

I bet that stupid Village is behind this, or maybe Russo from that stupid continent of impure ideals, living with demons has corrupted their heads for the worse.

Why would anyone want to frame me for such a terrible crime? What do they gain from it? These questions torment me day and night, gnawing at my sanity.

I would never be so stupid to leave such tracks and evidence, I worked with Cain, I've worked with immortal beings, and yet here I am, a hero being imprisoned. I can't break out or else I'll look guilty...just how long is that investigation going to last?!

I bet that the king is just having fun with those bitches of his.

Perseus POV

I couldn't believe the nerve of this guy, I thought that he was supposed to be cold and stoic, and he was now trash-talking me as if he was some superior being. Who does he think he is? Me?

It was infuriating to see him give me a taste of my own medicine. I needed to keep my cool, though, and not let him see how much his words were affecting me.

"Is that all you've got?" I retorted, trying to maintain my usual composure, "I thought you were supposed to be the strong, silent type."

"And here I thought you had some real comebacks," he taunted with a smug grin on his face, "I guess it's hard to argue with someone who can barely reach my shoulder."

"Are you calling me short?! What the fuck?! I'm average."

"That's what she said...It's quite sad, isn't it? Your women's gonna leave once they're done with you."

"You must have run out of intelligent things to say, you stupid artificial dirtbag," I replied, "Is that the best you can do?"

"Well, it's hard to take someone seriously when they can't even see eye-to-eye with you. You're like a little pipsqueak."

"I've been holding back, you know, you seriously don't wanna piss me off."

"I was as well, Perseus Silver."

Our fight then continued, I lured him to a few of my other traps, but he caught on too quickly, I used the strings again and again, but it was ineffective against him as he started to strengthen himself further.

His hands then turned into claws, as I parried its next attack, my mind raced, searching for weaknesses I could exploit. I can just destroy this guy by fighting him brutally, but I need counters for other possible homunculi.

|Author's note: I don't what the plural form is, but I tried Homunculuses, and I was suggested to use Homunculi as the plural form.|

The creature seemed to be impervious(I'm trying new words) to pain, but maybe there was a way to disrupt the magic that bound it together.

He then launched an onslaught of kicks and punches, each strike aimed with precision and speed with the aim of breaking my bones. I dodged and blocked some of them, but those that hit... imagine you guys being hit by a beam of steel, he is quite hard.

Don't take that out of context, I was saying that his flesh and muscles are hard...that still sounds wrong, but you know what I mean.

His skill was beyond impressive, I guess it was instilled into him young, his moves were able to counter the martial arts and dance taught in my village as well. I then gathered light in my fist and punched him hard in his stomach

There was this sound of metal meeting flesh resonated through the area, my fist hurt a lot, but I finally managed to get a reaction of him as he visibly convulsed.

"Hah, I'm gonna kill you today!"

"You talk a lot." he replied with his face still mostly expressionless, "And when I win, I will hand your corpse to my creators."
