Chapter 329: Stop It (4)

|I think that this is my 3rd chapter today, lol.|

3rd Person POV

Media outlets then shifted their focus from the initial shock to investigative journalism as reporters dived into their controversial history, scrutinizing its practices, research endeavors, and any potential culprit that may want to attack them out for revenge.

Interviews with former employees, industry insiders, and medical experts offered glimpses into the inner workings of the pharmaceutical giant.

Competing corporations issued statements condemning the attack while simultaneously reassuring the public of their own commitment to ethical practices. Stock markets experienced significant fluctuations, with investors unsure of the stability of the industry as a whole.

However, one thing's for sure, it's that their rivals are receiving a jump in investment as H.A.P.P.Y Solutions stock dropped, so their rivals are also at the end of an intense investigation.

Fear and uncertainty spread beyond the pharmaceutical sector. People questioned the safety of public spaces and iconic landmarks, wondering if they too could become targets. Security was heightened in major cities, leading to long lines at airports as there were increased bag checks and a general sense of unease in public spaces.

Ruka POV

"Why are we the only ones in their main headquarters?"

"We're here to just free a couple of guys, they'll cause chaos, and if some managed to escape, there's at least some organization in this country that is sympathetic to people like them and will bring it up. They don't have to travel across the world like I did. Once they find out, they'll shut down for a while." he replied.

This world...is more interesting than this guy chalked up to be. After coming here, I realized my mistake of downplaying the useful impact of this internet thing, it's even more amazing than I thought, they have so much information and so many things to explore.

The news of this world is very chaotic as well, the news analysts in this world are all also biased, it's so chaotic and quite lovely, they like to mix in narratives with actual important topics and it always sparks debates that separate people even further.

And every headline, every story seems carefully tailored to elicit emotions, to tug at the threads of our beliefs, and to create a tapestry of division that's as intricate as it is disheartening.

The news analysts, those charismatic talking heads who've become the arbiters of truth in this era, wield their words like weapons. They craft their narratives with such finesse, weaving together half-truths and cherry-picked facts to create a picture that suits their agenda.

Ah...my inner sadist is coming out again...

"Yo, ma'am, hello?" Perseus said and waved his hand in front of my face.

"Sorry, I was lost in my thoughts, this world is amazing, you know."

"It's not, but I respect your opinion. Anyway, let's go in."

We then sunk into the shadows and got into the building easily, since the restroom is the only place where there are no cameras or whatever it's called, we saw this couple who was kissing each other and whispering sweet compliments to each other.

Perseus then threw these sleeping powders in the air, they fell asleep and tied them up in a stall as we then head out in our disguise. We then used ice magic to fill in the door's key hole and lock the restroom. And fortunately, based on their uniform, they were the kitchen staff, and we got access to their food supply.

"Oi, John, Sarah!" a person called, "It's your turn to cater today. Where were you 2?"

"Sorry boss, I was just having a minor headache and John was helping me."

"Fine, but make sure to not be late next time, there are rumors of you 2 dating and I don't mind that so if this is a fake excuse for you 2 to slack off, better stop it."

"Sorry sir, if we were to do that, I'll be sure to be honest." Perseus replied

"Don't, I rather not know." the man replied before handing us this tablet.

We scanned our card on it and luckily it helped us with the direction of where we needed to head.

"Red and black...that means that we're heading to their lower floors." Perseus whispered as we then head into the elevator, "Be ready to have your disguise changed and sink into the shadows, free as many guys as you want."

"How do you want me to free them?"

"Freeze the doors till it's weak enough for the guys to break it and run out themselves." he instructed, "And give your ID to one of these inmates as well, we'll then go to the top floor through the shadows and clear things out for em."

As we then gave food to the people in each cell, I sort of understand Perseus' hatred for the people in this world and why he hates this world. We enter each room, gave food to the researchers, and left the food for the so-called inmates as well.

They had tubes and needles in them while the researchers were watching their every move as they all live in isolation...quite sad really, and I can see it in their eyes...it was almost lifeless. But at least it looked like they were willing to escape.

After we were done, we were heading back around, and the poison Perseus secretly put into the researchers' food has taken great effects, and none of them managed to call for help in time.

My disguise flickered and I now for some reason looked like Rolan, I then rushed around freezing the doors of these poor inmates, a lot of them broke the now more fragile door and rushed out, I hand them my ID, and they also got the ID of the researchers before heading for the elevator as they all teamed up on the way.

Some of them got a few hits in and even killed the researchers before giving me a nod and running away, I run into Perseus who had the disguise of a nearby scientist and we sunk into the shadows before appearing on the top floor.

"No killing, right?"

"Nah, this is the main headquarters, all of them deserve death." he replied

We spared the couple though, but whatever.
