Chapter 340: Negotiating With God (4)

Perseus POV

"No?! Are you serious?!

"Of course, I do not need to look into your memories." God replied calmly

"Then how the fuck are you supposed to trust me?"

"I just know not to."

"Oh, you just know. The answer just comes into your head, huh? That I am some calamity, while there is a guy out there, after your life, actively trying to cause one."

This guy, this so-called god, had the audacity to dismiss my concerns, and my intentions, as if they had all the answers. As if their intuition was enough to judge me while ignoring the clear threat that loomed over us all.

I looked into his eyes, searching for any sign of understanding, any indication that he would relent and give me the benefit of the doubt. But all I saw was an unwavering confidence, a stubborn belief that he was right and I was wrong.

"Your character doesn't matter to me." He said, "I already see what you're doing, you are killing people left and right, just for the sole purpose of revenge, and that...I find it unworthy of my trust."

"Oh, coming from the guy who never intervened in a world war and saved any lives?"

"I give people faith, I helped guide those who are faithful to safety," he countered, "And I watched over them, I did for you too."

"Then where the fuck were you? I was tortured every single fucking day, even when I got out, people gave me death glares, and people threw rocks at me, where the fuck were you, more than 20 years, and yet not one word of assurance that I was going to be okay, nothing was done."

"I made Meira approach you, and you 2 befriended each other. And my job is to watch over people, not to interfere."

"Oh, wow, even Lilith, the fucking goddess of demons, interfered once she saw sometimes, and she is the one who continues to let the freaking Demon lord walk around. People are slowly dying and they're soon all going to die, yet you're going to do nothing because of your one guilt to a madman you created.

"What the fuck is wrong with you?! The world I'm creating is by no means as safe as his nor is it any close to perfect, but isn't that what humans are?! In many stories, with different gods, we are created in their image and we are their favorites because we're all imperfect, we all got their vices and virtues.

"I mean, seriously, you're supposed to be this all-knowing, all-powerful being, and yet you can't even show a shred of empathy? You're so detached from reality that you can't even comprehend what it's like to struggle, to doubt, to feel lost. You're so out of touch with the human experience that you might as well be on another damn planet!

"And you judge me for my questionable character, but who the fuck did you think made me this way, all of this was because of that stupid project, a project created by a madman, who's doing all of this to kill you! Are you sure you're actually not some Demon in disguise?! Cuz you're the biggest bitch I know!"

Why won't this god understand? Why can't they see the value in imperfection? It's infuriating how they claim to know everything and yet they're so blind to what really matters.

Their arrogance is maddening. Sitting up there, untouched by the struggles that define our existence, and refusing to lend a hand. How can they be so callous? How can they watch us suffer and still think they're doing us a favor by withholding their help? It's like they're playing some twisted game, reveling in our pain.

Their lack of empathy is astounding. They claim to have created us in their image, but do they even know what that image truly entails? We're flawed, imperfect beings, and that's what makes us special. Our struggles forge our character, our mistakes teach us invaluable lessons.

Does he want to throw all that away for Cain's perfect world?! Why? That means that all of this would have been for nothing!

"3 hours, I'll let you use it for 3 hours." God offered and put the gauntlet on the table, "I'll give you a chance...however, this means that in return, I'll be giving Phineas my blessing, I want him to be stronger, even though he won't be able to defeat you alone, so I will do it for his comrades as well."

"3 hours...that's barely enough time." Dawn commented, "And strengthening Phineas is fine, however, don't you know that his comrades are filled with racists and bigoted people who-screw it, Perseus, let's accept the offer, Phineas is easier to deal with if I'm by your side anyway."

Dawn POV

Perseus left to go find my daughters in order to charge and used the machine quickly while God sat across from me and mumbled under his breath, once I listened closer, it was some blessing recitation.

Perseus is right, he can't eliminate Cain in one short trip, well, he needs to go back and monitor things on the other side, and his most secret concern that my daughter noticed was...the decline in his grandmother's health, she doesn't have long.

The village is preparing for war from all sides, and she is needed to help them train in the village's dance tradition as she's the best expert in the area, both his grandfathers help out to reduce her load as well, but it seems that even with proper rest and the best healing methods possible, she doesn't have long to live, Leilah said that Lynda had a year at best.

He allotted 3 months for his current trip and he'll come back once...Lynda's gone. We currently have a lot of time, and in 2 days, we'll be attacking the extinction class projects one by one.

"Dawn," God called, "Once you go back with Perseus, can you check up on a soul for me? Just a personal request."

"What soul?"

"A soul who sacrificed his life to save Perseus while he was here, I let him retain his memories before I sent him to reincarnate on the other side in hopes of a better life."

Isn't that..Perseus' brother?
