Chapter 394: Sabotage (3)

Perseus POV

After talking a bit more, I bid farewell to the guy, it's not like I don't understand where he's coming from, but he is putting himself on a hitlist. It's going to take effect once every nation signs it, we have to sign it since Russo put us in that predicament, though no nation should be legally allowed to attack us till the deadline.

I was frustrated with Lloyd, but from how it's going, I'll probably have to kill him, it'll be better to die by my hands than the demons, the laws do not necessarily forbid torture, and the humans and demons do it to each other all the time, even happened to such representatives, so it'll be my act of mercy.

I went home only to see Alban and Violet talking with Dawn, and from Lilith's expression, it seemed like her 'Lily' disguise wouldn't work as Roxa was interrogating her.

"I-I don't know what you're talking about." Lilith timidly replied

"I didn't suspect anything until my investigation uncovered the truth." Roxa retorted, "Your so-called family and everything, how it was all made to cover your tracks, I know that it's you, Lilith, stop this Lily nonsense, you traitor."

"I can understand your skepticism, but I'm telling the truth."

"Oh how convenient, what you did was treason I tell you, treason! You faked your death to escape your duties..." Roxa then turned and saw me, "You! You did this!"

"I did what?"

"If she hadn't met you, she would have never lost her drive to work, she spent every of her free time to sleep around with you!"

"Hey, don't blame me for her sloppiness. No need to keep the act up Lilith, I can tell from her tone, there ain't no way your Lily's disguise going to continue working, it's either you come out now or she'll send an army here, and I know you can't really kill your people."

"Phew, I really hate acting like someone I'm not." Lilith said with a sigh of relief, "Besides, I'm not sloppy, I clean up my messes all the time."

"Yeah, sure. And I didn't force her to do anything. She made her own choices."

"Choices? She was a responsible, hardworking woman before you came into her life." Roxa accused

She wasn't always responsible, it was just an act. I can't believe Roxa is saying this. She always saw the responsible side of her, but maybe she never knew the whole story. If only she knew the truth about her friend or fellow general.

Lilith only revealed her true self behind closed doors, a person who was surprisingly lax and easygoing. She didn't hold herself to the stringent standards she portrayed in her professional life.

She's also quite open, a bit too open...but we'll see how this goes.

"People change, and not always because of someone else. Maybe she needed a break from all that responsibility."

"A break? She faked her death and left our nation! That's treason!" she responded

"It's not that simple. There's more to her story."

"More to the story? She was one of our nation's top intelligence officers. She had access to classified information that could jeopardize our national security. She trusted you more than anyone else. You must have convinced her to run away."

"Flattered, but no."

"You must have had some involvement! What else do you two have in common besides the fact that she chose you to disappear with?"

I then heard the conversation between the roses and Dawn end and rush toward our location.

"Why the hell are you holding up 3 fingers?! Answer me you dolt!" Roxa yelled and my fingers all went down, the white and purple rose burst into the room.

"Lilith? Why didn't you tell us?" Alban asked

"Yeah, I wouldn't have been mean to you otherwise." Violet added

"Did you 2 actually believe their sob story?!" Roxa demanded

"She's Lilith, the goddess of demons...and our younger sister."  Alban revealed and Roxa's face went slack.

She then fainted.

"I don't know why you're being nice to me when you didn't even recognize who I was."  Lilith said, "I never even hid my face."

"Well, I'll take the blame, I barely spent any time with you or any other gods, but why didn't you just tell us?" Alban asked

"It's just that, well, I felt like an outsider in the family. I didn't want to cause any trouble or attract attention to myself. So, I kind of drifted away and kept to myself, it's not like I was lonely."

"I get it, but that doesn't mean you should've stayed so distant. We're family, after all. We should've known you were feeling this way. We could've helped."

"Like I said, I don't care, I got my life and you got yours, so we can just continue on like nothing happened."

"It's not that simple. We can't just ignore everything and move on. We're family, and we should be there for each other. If you're hurting or going through something, you don't have to face it alone. We care about you, and we want to help."

"You sound like Rowan." Lilith commented

This is incredibly awkward, I don't know why I was asked to stay here, but Lilith said it's for support, so I might as well.

"I appreciate your concern," Lilith replied, "But I've managed so far, and I don't want to burden anyone with my problems. I've created my own support system outside of the family, and I'm doing just fine."

"We respect your decision to handle things your way," Violet chimed in "But we also want to be a part of your life. Family is important, and we shouldn't just pretend like nothing happened. We can work on rebuilding our relationships and understanding each other better."

"Oh, this feels so weird hearing caring words from, you, can't you just swear and curse at me like you usually do? Go on, call me a bitch or something." Lilith commented

"Lilith, like I love you, but please be just a tiny bit more respectful." I chimed in, "They're trying to help you, just talk it out a bit."

"You just want to lower their guards so that we can take advantage of them later, don't you?"

Damn, she called me out already? This is sabotage.
