The Beginning

My name is Dan, but most people called me White. Dan the White, my friends named me as such.

I have no parents, and by that I don't mean that my parents are dead, rather that I'm born without parents.

In some words you can say that my home world gave birth to me. So, my world can be considered my parent. Though my world hasn't yet developed a consciousness, making the argument weird.

My birth is an anomaly, but I'm no different from regular humans of my world. I age like them, grow like them, and feel emotions like them.

But the one thing that differentiates me from others might be that, I know for sure that I'm special.

Thus, I'm much more confident with myself, almost to the level of overconfidence.

And that is the reason behind why I wasn't prepared when I'm suddenly sucked inside a blue portal.

This is the day I step into the Infinity Dungeon!

....

The First Floor, Infinity Dungeon.

I look at the goblin in front of me. It's purplish skin, animalistic teeth, and a short dagger in its small hand, make it look menacing in my eyes.

But it's barely half my size, reducing the fear factor.

Though I'm suprised by the sight, even afraid for a moment, my mind changes in real time to adapt to the situation.

First, I keep the goblin in my front view as I slowly step back. I have no weapons on my hand, but I'm well versed in various martial arts, and my body is at peak potential for a 16 year old.

Moreover, the fear factor of the goblin had disappeared with time, and adrenaline has been pumped into my body.

I overwhelm the goblin in every statastic, except for the weapon.

I estimate my chances of victory as 100%.

Yes, I'm overconfident.

....

Seeing White take a step back, the goblin took it as a sign of weakness, of fear.

The goblin itself was fearful of the man who was twice its size, but it's monster nature suppressed that fear.

....

Thus it charged at me.

I'm calm. My mind is at 100% efficiency. My other senses are overworking due to adrenaline, as I watch the goblin outstretch it's dominant right hand that was carrying it's dagger towards my gut.

As the dagger reached my gut, I turn my body 90 degrees by moving my right leg, making the charging goblin position its left side infront of me.

Without any second thought, I kick the back of its head with my left foot. Sending it face first into the ground.

Once the goblin is on the ground, I step on it, using my weight to immobilise it.

I then give it a series of foots to the back of its head.

I only stop when the dagger falls out of the goblin's hand, and golden glow leaves the goblin's body to enter mine.

A system prompt appears in my vision.

"Open Status" I call out to the air infront of me.

And a screen appears in my vision.

****

Name: Dan the White

World: Alesky (Grade Zero)

Path: Not Chosen (List Options)

Skills: Nil

Exp: 10

****

The system screen is pretty simple.

I've alredy known about it since that's the only thing my friends talked about all day.

It appears when one enters the Infinity Dungeon. It's also the ticket to power for those aspiring men.

I will myself to open the List Options in Path Category.

And a few paths appear on my screen.

****

Body Path

Mind Path

Spirit Path

Energy Path

Magic Path

****

These five were basic paths that one had to choose as their starting point. It was rumoured that one can walk multiple paths once they reach a certain level, but thats for another time.

Every path had its advantages and disadvantages but I chose the Body Path without hesitation.

The Reason?

Cause it's the first choice in the list.

I'm confident in myself no matter which path I choose, so I just chose the first path.

Though I vaguely feel that the mind path was a better choice for me, but that only makes me choose the body path more firmly.

****

Name: Dan the White

World: Alesky (Grade Zero)

Path: Body

Skills: Nil (List Options)

Exp: 10

****

Now that I've chosen my path, it comes with a free chance to select a skill belonging to that path.

****

Enhanced Body

Digest

Sleep

****

The choices of skills are randomised. Different persons would get different choices, but all the skills available are of grade 0.

I think a little before I choose Sleep as my first skill.

The reason?

Well, until floor 10 of the Infinity Dungeon, all I will be facing are goblins.

Digest is useless as I've not brought any food with me, and while Enhanced body could potentially help in defeating the goblins, the strength gain from a grade 0 skill wouldn't be massive enough to make a difference!

I concentrate on the skill I just gained to see what it actually does.

****

Sleep: lvl 0(0/100)

Allows three states of sleep.

Shallow Sleep: Mind and body are slightly resting. Reflexes are activated.

Mild Sleep: Mind and Body are relaxed. Reflexes are relaxed.

Deep Sleep: Mind and Body are resting. Reflexes are turned off. Timer can be set to wake up.

****

Well, isn't that a nice skill. It can allow me to sleep instantly, and even lets me choose how I sleep. Pretty good for a grade 0 skill.

Now that I'm done with the system screen, I move towards the blue portal that appered after I killed the goblin, holding the goblin's knife in my left hand.

It's time for the second floor.
