Sin Of Omission

Zoe didn't exactly go to bed as Gabriel had directed her. What teacher in her right mind would go to sleep when they had a lot of work to grade, not to mention prepare for classes tomorrow? Hence, she spent about three hours working quietly and decided to go to bed around midnight.

However, she hardly put her head down on her pillow when her phone rang and she discovered that it was her mother. A thrill went through her and she picked up the call at once.

"Hello mother," Zoe missed the woman terribly. Though it has been months since she returned here, the nostalgia hit her hard tonight. Perhaps it might have to do with the fact that she would go to her mother whenever she had a bad day and rant to her. She would listen and try to make a joke out of it just to lighten the mood and then wrap her in her arms while reminding her that she was a strong woman. But that wasn't possible anymore. They were far away from each other.
