Chapter 3: The Truth

"Riiiiiiiiiing!"

After school, John and Sam asked Mary, "Did you tell Daisy about your missing pencil case?" "No," replied Mary. "What happened?"

So John and Sam told Mary about the conversation with Daisy. "Oh!" said Mary. "She lied! She must be the one who stole my pencil case!"

"But... What can we do?" asked Sam.

"Umm..." John couldn't think of an idea too. "I don't know..."

However, at recess, when Daisy was doing homework, Mary's pencil case fell out of her school bag!

"Hey!" yelled Mary. "My pencil case!"

"Oh no!" Daisy said, and picked it up.

John and Sam headed to Daisy's seat. "Give it back to Mary!" said John.

Without any other choices, Daisy handed the pencil case to John. He then gave it back to Mary, who was really delighted. "Thanks!" she said.

However, Sam heard someone crying. He turned his head and found out that it was Daisy!

"Why are you crying?" he asked, and everyone turned to see her.

"My... My family was poor, so... I just wanted to steal something to sell and make some money..." Daisy said.

"If you don't have enough money, you should tell me about it," said Mary. "I can help you, and you don't need to steal things from people."

"I'm... I'm sorry..." said Daisy.

"I'll tell my dad about it and he can give your family some help," Mary said.

"Thanks... I'm so sorry..." said Mary, crying.

So, happy ending. Mary's dad gave some money to Daisy's family, and John had solved a case. Sam told everyone about it, and John became famous.

If you have any problems to solve, you should ask John for help!
