CHAPTER 30

In the Alistair Residence...

Veronica woke up feeling hollow and empty. It had felt as if she couldn't move from the position she had woken up to meet her self. She was still in the clothes she had worn the previous night but her shoes and wig had been taken off.

Her head hurt like hurt like crazy. 'What else was I expecting? To wake up without having a hangover.' She mocked herself.

'How did I even get home?' Veronica thought holding her head with both hands and looking around. Veronica searched her head and could not remember anything related to her getting home.

'Where the hell is my phone?' She thought again searching all over her bed. She gave up and just rested her head.

'I must have had a lot to drink last night. But what if dad saw me drunk last night?' Veronica panicked. 'That'll be so fucked up." She got of her bed and ignored the banging headache this time and was about to go out of her room, but seems like someone had already opened it from the other side.

"M...mom" She called out in shock, she knew her mom must have been aware she was drunk last night, despite having warned her so many times.

Bianca stared at her daughter in anger, but first she knew she had to close the door first.

"Why were you so drunk last night?" Bianca was honestly very angry, because of the stress she had to go through to cover up for this stupid daughter of hers. If looks could kill, then Veronica should have been dead the moment her mom opened the door.

"Mom...I" Veronica was thinking hard on what to say. 'The fuck! I don't even know how I got home last night.' She thought. Her head hurt even more and she felt a little dizzy. Bianca noticed and spoke;

"Don't worry I asked the maids to bring some water, they should be here soon." Right after Bianca said that, Julia knocked on the door and came in holding a glass of water in a tray. Veronica took it and drank the water then returned the glass.

"Is the kombucha being made already?" Bianca asked and before Julia could reply;

"What the heck is that mom?" Veronica asked seemingly surprised Fwith the "thing" her mom had asked about.

"It's the hangover tea you are having this morning." Bianca replied.

"What?! I thought i was gonna be having pickle juice or something." Veronica obviously wasn't interested in having the kombucha.

"Oh really?" Bianca spoke sarcastically. "So you really think pickle juice would help with your hangover?" She continued. "Do you know how drunk you were yesterday?"

"But mom..." Veronica couldn't continue cause Bianca glared sharply at her.

'Seems like my mom is mad' Veronica thought. Julia noticing the tense situation, silently left the room, but not without closing the door behind her. The pain Veronica has been feeling hit her again causing her to place both of her palms on her head supporting it.

"That's the result of your foolishness." Bianca mocked her. Veronica decided to keep quiet so as to not anger her mom further.

Bianca thought about how Veronica sent her a text the previous day and how she had met her unconscious in her car.

"Did u send me a text before u fell asleep?" Came Bianca's first question. She definitely had a lot more and thought of how she was gonna punish this insolent daughter of hers. She looked at Veronica and noticed the look on her face.

"I sent a text?" Veronica blurted out.She then thought that there was a possibility Rachel could have sent it but she wasn't so sure about it either cause she doesn't remember a thing.

"Didn't you send it? Or you simply do not remember?" Bianca was puzzled. "Why did u go to a club in the first place? How many times do i have to remind you that if you are seen you could the family reputation?"

"Mom I..." Veronica really didn't know what to say, she just went out of impulse, not like she won't go there because her mom had warned her but she regretted getting completely drunk.

"You have absolutely nothing to say that'll justify your actions. Do you know how hard If was for me to hide you from your Father? Do you..." As Bianca ranted on, Veronica had stopped listening. Once she heard that she hadn't been caught by her father she was relieved. She didn't care about how stressful it might have been.

"Mom where is dad?" She asked.

"He left early, he had a meeting to attend." Bianca replied airily.

"Mom what about my phone?" Veronica asked

"With me." This time Veronica was a bit agitated.

"Can i have it back?" She asked.

"Definitely not. I have your phone and your car keys with me, so you should know you are being grounded." Bianca explained.

"Mom...no" Veronica knew she couldn't convince her mom, she couldn't even try cause Bianca had made her decision.

"And you can't leave this room either. You surely do not want your dad's workers to tell him u actually at home right? Cause right now he thinks you are in school, which is exactly where you are supposed to be. So stay in your room, wait for your kombucha , freshen up and study all day." With that said Bianca took her leave.

"Urrrrrghhhh!!!" Veronica felt like pulling her hair out but she couldn't.She didn't expect her mom to punish her that way, she felt like her mom was being too harsh on her.

But Veronica is Veronica. She ignored her headache and walked to a particular corner in her room, where her books were kept on the shelves and picked out a phone.

"Now I see why it's good to have hidden spare things." She said and smiled.

She was about to turn the phone on when she heard a knock again. She didn't need to ask who was at the door before she knew it was Julia.

"Come in." She said.

Julia came in with the kombucha and took it to Veronica who had hidden the phone back where she had taken it from. Veronica stared at the tea in disgust.

The kombucha is a fermented tea drink that's been gaining popularity in recent years. It's made by adding a SCOBY (symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast) to sweetened tea and letting it ferment. The result is a fizzy, slightly sour drink that's packed with probiotics. Some people claim that kombucha has all sorts of health benefits, from boosting digestion to improving mood.

The kombucha can help with hangovers! The theory is that the probiotics in kombucha can help to replenish the good bacteria in your gut that can be depleted by alcohol. There's not a ton of scientific evidence to back up these claims, but some people swear by it. So Bianca was inclined to prepare this for her daughter as a punishment and also for her health.
