Alec was right about the rain.
It’s barely eight in the morning and the ground outside of the tent may as well be another pool of water with how flooded the ground is. And Alec is still sound asleep, the rain a metronome that’s proven to keep him lethargic and quiet even on his most energetic days. It’s both a blessing and a curse, allowing me to drink my fill of him while he’s still, but also allows my mind to wander into places I’m not entirely comfortable with.
Yesterday feels like a dream, and waking up curled into Alec’s chest like I belong there sends a spike of confusing emotions ricocheting through my stomach. But before I can delve too deep into it, he’s stirring softly beside me, one eye cracking open and immediately looking for me. When he finds me his other opens, flipping onto his back and folding his arms behind his head as I look down at him from where I’m sitting.
“Morning.” He says, and I don’t think I’ll ever get used to his morning voice.
