Against all odds

Plato was in the office of Constantine. There entered a familiar sight through the door. It was the old man. They got up to receive him. Plato immediately went and hugged him. Romanov held him as tightly as he could. " I thought I was never going to see you again in this lifetime" he said to Plato. I'm glad to see you too, sir. They all took a seat and Constantine gave his chair up to the old man and he himself sat beside Plato. Romanov obliged to his request after hesitating at first.

He looked at Plato for a few seconds. So how was it up there ? He asked him. You were right sir , he said. " It was as great as you thought it would be". Good , good! The people are all living in peace and happiness there? Romanov asked Plato. They sure are happy , but a long way to go for peace, replied Plato. Romanov was puzzled , although old age had made him accept that he could be wrong. "I have been wrong my whole life" here I'm wrong when I was sure that I was going to be right. He became somber. You were not wrong , said Plato. " How so? If it is the same up there, like it is here ? He asked him. It is exactly the opposite , said Plato . The people are less happy here and more in the time of peace. The wars are not as frequent as they appear there! Romanov was getting more puzzled. "If the wars were are more frequent there , then what is it to like ? He asked Plato. The adventure , the battles , the people there. There are heroes there , said Plato as his eyes lit up. There are people of immense magnitude there , both good and evil. And the fight goes on between the good and evil. And more often than not , it is the good that wins . Sir , continued Plato now fully immersed in his own tale. I have been in a great many fights, they were glorious. I fought alongside my allies. And we hand in hand sought with immortals who could not be defeated.

Romanov sat back " I'am not interested in fantasy and children things, he said" I'm far too old for that. Sir, this world has made you blind to things that are out there. The real things that are out there , another life. Much different to ours or anything we can imagine , said Plato . Romanov sighed. Have they cured poverty ? out there ? He asked Plato . Do the children eat and sleep well , he asked. Romanov locked his eyes into that of Plato's. Do the children dream there ?. Plato did not have an answer. Do not forget where you came from son , said Plato. Constantine looked at Plato and gave him a look that told him that he had gone through the same. " The best chance we have is on this planet then , than any other " said Romanov. This planet , laughed Plato. Heaven and hell reside in the mind of man , a fabricated concept. We can change the minds of these people , said Romanov. Plato had stopped laughing. But how ? He asked the old man. How do we change the minds of people that believe that there is a better life after this one. How do we change the minds of people that enduring is the not the right way? Plato raised many questions.

How do we make the people with a lot look out for the people with few ? Asked Constantine. Romanov laughed. We transform their energy , said Romanov. We transform their energy needs. That is what has been assigned to us. The rest is up to God. He will look after. What is the plan ? Asked Plato. We need to create channels and routes and start stations the same as this in the poorer countries of the planet , said Romanov. We transport the energy boxes in aircraft's and supply to the people there. I have people in Moscow who are in touch with the locals. There the engineers will take our energy box and try and connect it to their grids. Romanov paused " it is a fair bit complex to me" Maybe Constantine can explain. Constantine looked at Plato . " We need a few more of the compound" he said. Fair enough , said Plato. Half jokingly. But where from ? He asked Constantine. We have nearly depleted their resources , said Plato. Andora and planet 157 barely have any of the compound left and even so if we tried to get more compounds, we could be hung for treason . " You could reach your powerful friends , surely?" asked Constantine. They do not have control over the planet , my friends , said Plato. The king Darticus would surely put us in prison if we tried anything of that sort, added Plato. They sat in silence. " I remember" said Romanov and they both looked at him. Sergey had mentioned something about this person called Viktor of the planet you had just mentioned. That he was some sort of an Alchemist , that he could combine some materials and make this compound.

Viktor is an old tale, said Plato. He is a myth, a man exiled long ago with a few of his people. He was sent to the far corners of the galaxy. To a planet that had no inhabitants. " Do you know where the planet is ? Can you chart a course ? Asked Romanov. Plato nodded. Get ready , said Romanov to the both of them. It was Constantine's turn to get puzzled . Me as well ? He asked hiding his excitement. Yes , you too , said the old man. Go and find them, bring the person who knows how to conjure magic. The secret would surely have been passed along, instructed Romanov. What about my job ? Asked Constantine. I will find someone in Moscow, said the old man !
