Chapter 196 - End of the Second Great Ninja War.

[Chapter Size: 2000 Words.]

Third Person POV

Konoha, Year 41.

...

...

The rain was heavy at this moment, falling on everyone present, while watchful eyes scanned the environment and the people on both sides, alert to anything.

Minato looked on with a serious expression, unfazed by the rain beating down on his hair. Beside him stood Mikoto, Hanabi, and several jōnins from his camp, wearing the same determined look as their commander. But that wasn't all—near them were at least three more groups from other northern camps, each with their commanders and respective teams, observing the group ahead.

In front of them, the leader stood atop his giant salamander in the middle of the forest. Hanzo the Salamander, known as the shinobi demigod, was there, staring firmly at the Konoha ninjas. Behind him, hundreds of his Ame ninjas stood, identifiable by their breathing equipment.

There was no conflict between the two sides at this moment upon their arrival, as this was an important negotiation sent by the Hokage himself with a scroll to discuss ending the war. All commanders from the most important northern camps had been summoned, which brought Minato to this meeting.

The encounter took place in an area within the Land of Rain, not far from the Rain Village, as they couldn't approach Ame's central territory.

"Well, let's get this over with," Hanzo said, breaking the silence with the opening statement. After all, everyone was already in agreement with the letters sent to Ame.

The Konoha group nodded. A tent was set up to shelter them from the rain. The commanders, along with their personal guards, entered the tent, accompanied by Hanzo and a few of his guards. The other ninjas remained outside, alert to any potential conflict.

"So, these are the terms the Hokage demands," Hanzo said, reading the scroll handed over by Konoha's leaders and placing it on the table. "However, I can't accept everything here. Let me present my counterproposals." Hanzo spoke firmly, his gaze sweeping over all the commanders, lingering slightly longer on Minato. Though aware of his growing fame, he said nothing further.

He continued, "Ame will be independent. We will not allow Konoha to cross our borders for missions without prior authorization. However, we can still be allies on certain terms, as you suggest. In return, we demand trade routes that facilitate the flow of ninja tools and resources that the Land of Fire has for commerce."

The commanders exchanged glances, and one stepped forward, representing Minato and the other two due to his greater bureaucratic experience. Even Minato, despite his strength and prominence, did not take the lead in this negotiation—diplomacy was a different matter.

"Well, this can be forwarded to the Hokage so he can consult the councilors before making a decision," said the Konoha ninja responsible for the negotiations.

"This is our final proposal," Hanzo declared. "I hope Konoha accepts and adheres to it. After all, the war is nearing its end, and you have emerged victorious."

The commanders agreed. They began drafting the detailed terms on the scroll to send to the Hokage, with Hanzo making occasional adjustments to include his counterproposals. Minato watched in silence as the other commanders present gave their approval.

"With this, we conclude this final negotiation," the leader said as he signed the document. "Of course, the Hokage will have the final say, as this is a war-ending treaty," he added.

"Very well, I will await Konoha's response," Hanzo replied, closing the discussion.

Both sides began leaving the tent, returning to their respective squads. Before departing, Hanzo cast one last look at them. "So, we're done here. Perhaps we'll meet again someday, and I'll witness the growth…" His gaze fell on the young blonde.

Minato nodded silently. However, this would be the last time they saw each other, as Hanzo might eventually meet his end. Regardless, the groups advanced, each returning to their respective sides, carrying the first documents for peace in the ninja world once again.

Of course, Konoha didn't have such a smooth return. On their way back, with the Stone Village already informed about their contact with the leader of Ame, they had prepared an ambush. The presence of two bijū suddenly manifested, their chakra silhouettes appearing ahead. The Four and Five Tails began forming a Bijūdama made of pure chakra.

"Prepare for battle!" one of the commanders exclaimed.

Minato quickly created two clones and advanced. The two bijū charged, rushing toward them with full force to strike directly. Minato's clones started weaving numerous chakra threads in the air, creating a gigantic seal as they attempted to hold back the bijū simultaneously—something he had been doing regularly to stop Bijūdama attacks in the past year as a commander.

Minato, however, knew the clones would be attacked while trying to stop the bijū's assaults. He swiftly advanced toward Ōnoki, who was heading toward them through the air, realizing he was the target.

A fierce battle unfolded in the skies between Minato and the others. Meanwhile, Mikoto, Hanabi, and the other ninjas fought enemies on the ground as commanders from the other camps shouted orders. Minato and Ōnoki continued their aerial combat.

The confrontation in the sky was brutal, with Dust Release attacks colliding against Rasenshurikens, generating explosions that lit up the rainy sky with intense flashes and thunderous sounds.

"Retreat! Retreat!" the Konoha commanders ordered, realizing they were reaching their limits. They created an opening among the enemies.

Ōnoki gritted his teeth, clearly dissatisfied, as he watched Minato return to his group and vanish, teleporting to one of the kunai left on the battlefield. Minato launched Rasengans at the unsuspecting jinchūriki to stop their pursuit of the Konoha ninjas before disappearing again.

Ōnoki couldn't chase the Konoha ninjas alone as they advanced into the horizon. Frustrated, he realized he could no longer disrupt Konoha's negotiations with Ame.

"It seems we're going to come out as losers in this war... It's rather frustrating," Ōnoki muttered, watching the Konoha ninjas retreat. He ordered his ninjas to return to the northern camp. Despite some isolated battles, the camp had been less active lately. Operations were now limited to critical missions and diplomatic negotiations.

Ōnoki knew he had no choice but to try negotiating with Konoha, just as Ame had done.

Minato and the others returned to Camp 12, while the other commanders headed to their respective bases in the south. With no other options, Minato went straight to the command tent, where he spent the rest of the day listening to reports from all mission participants and writing his own.

"Will you be busy for long today? Maybe we can train a bit, if you have time," Mikoto said as she entered the tent.

"I won't be too busy today," Minato replied. "After all, I'm not the one handling the bureaucratic side of this agreement with Ame. I just need to submit my report. I'll assign a ninja to do that, and then I'll be free."

Minato completed all his tasks as the camp commander, and the two went off to train, staying at the training field throughout the night.

The next day, Minato delegated the responsibility of handling the documents to other ninjas and took some time off for himself. He visited the medical camp and found Tsuna there. However, she wasn't her usual cheerful self. She was kneeling, tears streaming down her face, alone in the spot where they used to spend time together.

When she noticed Minato, her gaze turned to him. She stood up and ran to him without hesitation, embracing him as she cried.

"Minato..." she murmured, sobbing.

Minato hugged her back and tried to comfort her. "I heard about it before the mission... I'm so sorry," Minato said, his voice calm but tinged with sadness.

"He had the kunai, but he couldn't use it. I know that if he had used it, you would have saved him..." Tsuna cried, her tears falling uncontrollably as she continued embracing her fiancé.

Dan had passed away a few days ago. Tsunade had tried to save him but failed, and he died right in front of her. This shattered Tsuna's world. When her mother brought the news, Tsuna began coming to the spot every day, crying as she waited for Minato.

"How is your mother?" Minato asked as Tsuna still seemed deeply upset, having spent more than 20 minutes crying on his shoulder. He sat at the base of a tree, gently stroking her hair to comfort her.

She tried to collect herself, but her voice remained heavy with sadness. "She's not doing well at all. She refuses to treat any injured ninjas. I think she's afraid. She's developed some kind of trauma… something to do with blood," Tsuna said.

Tsuna kept shedding tears, and Minato understood that losing someone close, like her own father, was never easy. Even he was shaken by Dan's death. He had tried to prevent it but ultimately couldn't save him, just as he had with Nawaki. It seemed Tsunade had developed the same trauma she faced in her original story from losing her lover.

He stayed with her for a while, consoling his fiancée. But there was nothing that could truly improve the mood of someone who had just lost their father. Tsuna continued to feel as though this was a terrible nightmare and that she couldn't wait to wake up. She loved her father, and losing him was excruciatingly painful.

"Get some rest, Tsuna. It'll help," Minato suggested.

After some time, Minato had to return to the camp. Before they parted ways, Tsuna asked him to visit her whenever he could, as the war was no longer filled with as many conflicts. Minato promised to do his best to see her again.

Back at the camp, Minato resumed his routine, managing daily tasks and training during his free time in the weeks that followed. He also regularly visited the medical camp, now that Tsuna was his fiancée, while Tsunade was no longer seen. She seemed consumed by her grief, refusing to leave her lab and focusing solely on her work. She had handed over the responsibilities of the medical camp to other ninjas. Instead of treating the wounded, she limited herself to working on poisons and avoided any direct contact with blood, even asking her daughter, Tsuna, to handle these tasks for her when dealing with poisoned blood.

Things were not easy for the Senju clan. The war had caused significant losses, and the clan's members were scattered across the borders. The number of Senju ninjas, already small, had decreased drastically since the start of the conflict.

Nawaki was still alive but had lost an arm. He had been taken back to Konoha for treatment. As the main heir of the Senju clan, he had significant responsibilities, but his recovery would be challenging. He would either have to learn to be a ninja with just one arm or retire from active service. Minato didn't know if creating a mokuton arm was even possible at this time.

Meanwhile, the terms of the peace treaty began to take shape in the following weeks. The Stone Village agreed to surrender after realizing the war was no longer sustainable. Minato observed Ōnoki's surrender with a sense of strangeness, as the old man had always been a fierce adversary. However, in a conflict-free meeting, Ōnoki finally agreed to cease hostilities.

The terms were discussed and sent to Konoha's leaders, who reviewed them and passed them on to the feudal lords. Months later, a meeting would be held with the leadership of the villages to finalize a post-war agreement. But the war had effectively ended, as there were no more conflicts at this point.

The Stone Village agreed not to invade Ame's territory anymore, and Konoha solidified its position as the great victor of the conflict. The war finally ended, bringing an end to years of bloodshed and suffering in the year 41 after Konoha's founding, nearing the 42nd year.
