Even though I woke up an hour before my alarm clock rang, I didn't go back to sleep. Intrusive thoughts swirled in my head, and the prophecy of my sister's death made my stomach clench with fear. I rolled onto my back and stared at my white ceiling as I tried to reassemble the information I had learned last night.
The burglar who was responsible for giving me mysterious letters turned out to be a nice teenager. My sister is in imminent danger. And Adrian and his boss want to help me save Beth's life.
I sighed deeply at the fact that in a couple days my life turned 180 degrees and from a normal teenager I became a hero saving other people's lives and working for a witch who can see the future.
Before I knew it, my alarm clock rang and I had to start getting ready for school. I got out of bed and went down the wooden stairs. When I entered the kitchen, I saw a strange sight. Beth was standing at the table while making sandwiches for both of us. I stared at her in shock, with my mouth slightly open. Beth never made sandwiches and when she did, it was only for herself.
The teenager looked up for a moment and saw that I had entered the room. Before I could say anything about her extraordinary behavior, the girl interrupted me.
"I was just about to wake you up. I made us breakfast. Sit down and eat. We have a busy schedule today. In short, we're not going to school today. Instead, we are going to visit Tommy in the hospital, and then we are going to the mall. Because of your accident, neither of us bought anything for Halloween, and the party is approaching fast. Besides, Ashley's coming over tonight and we're having a girls' party. And that is why, we need snacks."
After these words, the girl sat down at the table and took the sandwich in her hand. After a few seconds, I followed her lead and joined her at the table. I had to admit the sandwiches looked delicious. Beth made sandwiches with ham and cheese and slices of tomato and egg. There was mayonnaise on a piece of egg, which made the sandwich even tastier. After breakfast I went to the bathroom, did light makeup and put on a black T-shirt and a gray hoodie. I put on black boots that went well with dark jeans. I combed my hair. I thought about putting it in a ponytail but i decided to leave it lose. Once I was dressed and ready to go out, I shoved my phone and wallet into my navy blue purse and ran downstairs. Soon we were in the car on the way to the hospital. ********************************************************************************************
We were just sitting in a little cafe in the hospital. Tommy still had a cast on his leg and had to use a wheelchair for now. The three of us sat and ate fries that we had ordered earlier. The boy was satisfied with the meal because the food he was served here was not tasty. I was glad that the teenager was recovering. However, while I was sitting next to the couple in love, I felt like a third wheel and I wondered why Beth took me with her. I got up from the table and went to the toilet leaving my sister with her beloved boyfriend. I went into the bathroom, which didn't look as bad as usual public restrooms. I quickly used the toilet and went to the faucet to wash my hands. I was about to head back to the cafeteria when my phone in my purse beeped the sound of an incoming text. I quickly wiped the water off my hands and took the device out of my bag. A message from Adrian appeared on the screen.
'I spoke to the witch. She says your sister's cause of death will be jumping off the roof.' I furrowed my eyebrows and replied quickly.
'Hold on. You know who's gonna push her?' I waited a few minutes but no message came. I put my phone away and left the bathroom. I sped up my pace hearing strange voices and after a while I was already in the cafe. My sister was standing by Lisa Lake yelling at her. Garry Dean tried to stop the argument, but Tommy held him, not letting him to get close Tommy's girlfriend. The boy, even with a damaged leg, was stronger than Garry.
"Stay away from my sister, you hear me?" Beth shouted at Lisa. When I looked at the emo girl i saw that her eyes were filled with tears. I didn't wait any longer and took Beth's hand, dragging her forcefully into the corridor.
"What the hell are you doing?" I snapped at the teenager, anger and annoyance evident in my voice. However, my sister didn't even flinch and started yelling at me.
"You got hit by a car because of that freak! It's her fault and that idiot should be grateful I didn't do anything to her!"
I took a deep breath and tried to calm my sister down.
"Lisa, please. It was my decision. Don't take it out on Lisa. After all, she had been in that accident too and it wasn't really her fault. Please, just leave them alone okay?"
I didn't think my speech would do anything because usually my sister was a very confrontational person. However, since the accident, the girl has been nicer to me and tried to listen to my requests.
Moments later, Lisa and Garry left the cafe. I felt sorry for them seeing tears streaming down the girl's cheeks. As Garry passed me, he only whispered with a venom in his voice.
"You have a nice sister, Raven."

After the hospital incident, I wanted to go home, but Beth really wanted to go shopping and finally convinced me that it would be fun. We said goodbye to Tommy and headed to the mall. Beth was just trying on a bunny costume for Halloween. I was sitting on the couch in front of the fitting rooms, playing with my phone. My heart beat faster when I saw Adrian's message on the screen. The message wasn't long, but a little disturbing.
'That's the weird part. The witch in her vision saw no one on this roof except Beth. She says the girl will jump, not be pushed off.'
I read the information several times in disbelief. I didn't understand why my sister would commit suicide. However, I consoled myself that knowing the cause of death is good and that I could do something to prevent it. I was so focused on Adrian's message that I didn't notice that Beth had already tried on the costume and was standing in front of me, waiting for me to evaluate her outfit.
I jumped slightly when I finally realized her presence. Beth just laughed.
"What do you have on that phone that is so interesting? Are you texting with a boy?"
I just shrugged, thinking that I was actually texting with some boy. We just wasn't talking about the things my sister thouht we were. I looked at Beth's outfit. It was quite skimpy, but the blonde looked pretty in it. The suit was all black, strapless. There was a short skirt at the bottom, and my sister was wearing a headband with hare ears attached to it. The girl looked nice in it, and after a little discusion, Beth was already at the register buying clothes.
"We still need to buy something for you. You're my sister, and you must have some cool outfit too. I thought you might be a pretty witch. What do you think? I even have an idea of what the costume might look like. I'm telling you, boys will be looking at you non-stop." We were just walking down the passage on the third floor. My sister continued her monologue, but I slowed down as I saw two people walking towards us. I knew right away that there was going to be trouble when I saw an African American girl and a boy with red hair. Lucy and Roy.
"Beth" I said quickly, trying to avoid another fight of the day. "Can we go back to that store for a moment? I think I left my phone there." I lied quickly, hoping that going in the opposite direction would save us from confrontation. My sister, who was so focused on her monologue that she didn't see the couple approaching, only rolled her eyes at my giddiness.
We turned around and started walking in the direction we came from. Just when I thought we were safe, I heard Lucy's voice. "Are you running away, coward? I'm going to get you anyway."
My sister, who had just become aware of Lucy's presence, turned around and faced the angry teenager.
"I don't even know what you're talking about. You're so ordinary that I didn't even see you in the crowd." My sister's rival just smiled and then come closer to us.
"You attacked my little sister today. You will regret it." Lucy looked Beth in the eye. However, the blonde wasn't intemidated by black-haired girl.
'The little bitch deserved it. My sister was in the hospital because of it. And I'll try to give this weirdo hell."
After hearing these words, Roy, who had been standing quietly by Lucy, grabbed my sister and dragged her towards the railing. In a few seconds, the red-haired teenager held her by the neck. The girl was lying on the railing, her upper body hanging dangerously over the lower passage full of passers-by. If Roy let go of my sister's neck, the teenager would fall to the bottom floor. I felt my heart pounding in my chest. I tried to help Beth, but Lucy held me, not letting me near the railing. Even though I remembered that prophecy said that Beth would jump off the roof, that didn't mean the future couldn't be changed. Just when I thought the boy was going to let Beth go, the teenager pulled her back into the floor and let her go.
My sister, with horror in her eyes, slid to the ground, leaning her back on the glass separating her from the edge. The teenager looked with anger and fear at the ginger boy. At that moment, Lucy released me and walked over to my terrified sister, looking down on her.
"This is just a preview of what we'll do to you if you don't leave us alone. I'm tired of you attacking my sister and me."
After these words, the two teenagers left and I ran over to Beth, helping her up.
