They had barely started walking and most were already sick of the extra two coming along. To be specific Davy was the one they were all irritated with. Thompson was either lagging behind with Lasso quietly or up at the front of the group with Mama Williams. Davy on the other hand was excited to finally be away from camp and Pippin wasn't hearing the end of it. "Uh huh." She mumbled occasionally while ignoring his constant rambling. Does this man ever shut up? She assumed no he did not. Either he is extremely ignorant or he just doesn't care if someone is listening to him or not while he talks. "Davy." She finally snapped at him, just wanting space. "Shut the fuck up." She growled her fifth warning of the hour. Thompson finally pulled Davy away from the tired girl. "Davy, buddy leave the lady alone" he sighed, not wanting a fight to start. "I can guarantee you that if she said fuck it and swung, you would lose bud" he snickered. Davy just rolled his eyes and pulled his arm away. "Yeah yeah whatever." He muttered, not entirely believing that he would lose a fight to her.
He cut a glance back at Pippin. Thin, about average height 5'5 at most, she had that spear but he doubted she knew how to use it. Yeah he could take her. Was he going to start it? What Thompson said felt more like a challenge than a warning so he decided to bug her more to see what if would happen. He trailed back once more to the woman's side again. "Hey" he grinned as she let out an annoyed sigh. How many warnings does this guy need? She wished Mama would have just told them to go fuck themselves but they insisted on coming. "What now." Pippin grumbled while glancing to see how far Lasso was and how far Bones was. Lasso wasn't too far, just a few feet behind them while Bones was pretty close but was too busy looking at the ground for mushrooms and such. Charlie was also glued to his side so he acted as a small barrier between her and Bones. It wouldn't take Lasso long to get to her but she might be able to get a few hits in....just in case.
"Why do you sound so irritated with me? I just want to see how you're doing" he asked with a stupid smile. Oh how much Pippin really wanted to smack that off him. He was talking low enough for Mama to not be able to hear him, smart bastard. "Why do you keep coming back to me." She snapped back, too tired to care if she hurts his feelings or not. The only answer she got was a nonchalant shrug from him. She slowly put her hand on the handle of her spear, making it barely noticeable that she did so. Just a little warning whack was all she wanted to do. Just enough to knock some sense into him.
Lasso quietly watched from behind. He had a feeling that this Davy guy was testing his luck just for the hell of it but he didn't want Pippin to get hurt. Lasso silently crept up behind them and put his large hand over Pippin's that was on the handle of her spear. Davy quickly shuffled away the moment Lasso had came into sight. That cowboy was not to be fucked with is what he realized. From the day they saw Lasso, exhausted, crazed, and pointing a gun to their heads to protect the two boys he was with was enough to make sure Davy leaves him be. Pippin looked at her brother with a soft, relieved smile. He didn't smile back but she didn't expect him to. Lasso didn't show much emotion other than anger but it was never towards her or their family. She took her hand off the handle of her spear that was on her back and held his hand instead just to make sure he didn't go after Davy himself. As they walked Lasso leaned over and rested his head on her shoulder. She just chuckled softly and moved his hat back to pat his head then moved it back, not bothered one bit by him unlike she was with Davy.
Pippin may have taken it as affection but it was different for the cowboy. He leaned against her, burying his face between her neck and collarbone. He was hungry but food wasn't appealing to him at the moment. He walked like that for a few moments, leaning on her before finally trying to bite her. Not harshly but it was enough to get Pippin's attention.
"Lasso- what are you doing- that hurts-" she quickly pushed his head away, making him let go of her completely. His attention was brought back once she shoved him away. "The hell was that?" She asked while rubbing where she had bitten her. It wasn't enough to break the skin but stung. Lasso just stared at her, completely lost about what he had done. Finally Pippin was speaking loud enough for Mama to hear her and she looked back. "What's going on?" She asked and Pippin shook her head meaning nothing for now, not wanting for Lasso to go silent like he normally does when confronted by more than one person. With Mama turned their direction Lasso faded back a few feet once more. She questioned Pippin a little bit further but Pippin just told her everything was fine. Once she turned back to quietly talk with Thompson and Penny she slowed her pace to stay with Lasso.
"Are you sure you're feeling ok Lasso?" She asked him. Lasso just nodded but kept his eyes to the ground. "Why were you trying to bite me?-" she questioned but just got a small shrug. She sighed and tried to question him further but he fell silent, she would just have to talk to him later.
Lasso couldn't explain why he had tried to bite her. He hadn't even realized he had done it until she was pushing him off. He was hungry but the thought of eating any normal food sickened him. His head hurt and he felt feverish, that could've been just from being dehydrated. That's what he convinced himself it was for now. Lasso caught a glimpse of the bandage wrapped around his arm and something had finally occurred to him. Something that he prayed was a lie as he swiftly pulled his sleeve back down. He remembered he was bitten by one of the mutants but that was weeks ago, was it finally affecting him? He felt a twinge of fear in his chest and prayed that wasn't it.
