Chapter 3

He closed his eyes and held the same position at his seat for a while.

The utter lack of movement from him made it seem as if he didn't even breathe.

Five minutes passed and the teacher was in.

With a little rumbling from the sliding door, he took the noise as his cue to awaken from his short sleep.

Everyone stood up.

He did too, even though he didn't understand why they had to.

All of the class, in one synchronized motion, bowed, while saying:

"Good morning Hayasaki-sensei!"

Following along with the motions, he felt embarrassed to be bowing to her, confused as to why they were doing it in the first place.

With his head looking to the floor, he heard her say:

"Carry on."

The students of the class replied with:

"Yes ma'am!"

Again, in unison.

Greatly disturbed by the way this class was acting, his eyes darted around the room, as a flash cold sweat broke out on his face.

He hadn't heard the phrase "carry on" in years now.

It was enough to terrify him, as his sense of security and safety was shattered.

Stone-faced he looked back to the front of the class.

His emerald irises, which were previously full of energy, died momentarily.

The boy prayed to god he wasn't found, not yet at least.

His teacher stood at the podium in front of the class.

Before Hayasaki could begin the lesson, his hand was in the air.

Confirmation that she wasn't with the special governmental agency, Yellow Moon, was his top priority.

"Oh, yes… uh… your name is..?"

Springing onto his feet, with his hands clenched out to his sides, he said:

"I am Shikina Ikkamiya, ma'am. I have a question."

She laughed.

Her black straight hair was styled into a bob, with bangs over her eyebrows.

Stylish blue glasses, a black skirt and white button-up was her outfit.

"Haha… haven't even started the learning for the semester, and you have a question..?"

Unfazed, his rigid body and eyes looked forward.

"Yes ma'am, why did you say carry on just now?"

Shikina closed his eyes, as he waited for an answer.

He was afraid that he made himself too obvious now.

"Why did I say carry on? I saw a documentary on the United States military, and thought it was a neat thing to say."

Hayasaki's reply was satisfactory to him, as his eyelids shot open, and the infinite sight of green in his iris lived once more.

"Oh… is that so… ma'am."

Her face was still confused by his behavior, but shrugged it off.

But there was one student in the class who recognized him.

She wasn't apart of any government agency or anything so grand.

Just an otaku for the Basilisk Hunters.

The surname "Ikkamiya" belongs to a prominent family of Basilisk Hunters.

Each member of the house was gifted in some way or another.

Their powers awakened after the sudden sightings of the monsters of Petrification, what we now call the Basilisks, quickly rising to fame for their assistance to the world's various militaries in killing them.

Instead of expressing excitement at his presence near her, she decidedly kept her mouth closed.

He probably wanted to live in peace, thats what she thought.

But she still wanted to stalk him…

From afar, of course.

She wished to see what he had been blessed with.
