A Golden Card?

Everly yawned as she walked down the stairs towards the exit door,

She pushed the door open and stepped out of the mansion, only for the early morning sun to hit her skin quite harshly.

She strolled towards the mailbox and opened it, then grabbed the mail inside of it.

She returned back inside and proceeded up the stairs toward Valerio's room.

Her knuckles tapped on the door twice, and Valerio gave his permission.

She stepped inside, shut the door behind her, and strode towards the bed, where Valerio was lying on his stomach with the bed sheet over him and a slothful expression on his face.

"Rise and shine, Sir Avalanzo." She said as she drew the curtains in his room open.

She pushed the windows open and let natural ventilation in.

"Please, let me sleep a little bit longer." Valerio groaned in annoyance, and Everly turned to look at him.

"You don't want to go to your company today?" She lifted her brow at him.

"Not that I don't want to go, but I am taking a day off today. I don't feel good at all." Valerio clarified.

Everly nodded slightly in understanding and placed the mail on the mini table. "A mail came for you today." She reported.

"See what is inside." Valerio waved his hand at her and sat up on the bed.

Everly picked up the mail and opened it.

A golden-colored card slipped from it and fell to the floor.

"What is it?" Valerio inquired.

Everly picked the card up from the floor and examined it. "Hmm... it's a golden-colored card. Looks like a pass or something." She clarified.

"A golden card?" A slight look of confusion ensued on Valerio's face, and, seeming to realize what the card was, an indifferent expression replaced the perplexed look on his face. "Oh, it's indeed a pass. I am sure you must have heard of the Grande Parté held for the top 20 wealthiest people in the whole world since you use social media." He raised his brow at her.

"Ahh, yeah I have. So this is a pass to the party." Everly looked at the card again and pulled out the letter that was left inside the mail. "Hm, it says the ceremony is being held on Friday. Five days from now." She read it out to him.

"I see..., Well, I may not attend." Valerio stretched his body and relaxed on the bed.

"Why not?"  Everly walked towards the bed to sit down on it.

"Nothing much. It's just very boring to me. Laughter and judgmental eyes, hungry for someone to judge, push beneath them, and mock. Quite irritating if you ask me." He shrugged,

Everly, who knew that was more than true since that was the nature of most rich people, concurred with him.

"You're right, but is that really why you don't want to go?" She pried.

Valerio blinked his right eye open and peeked at her. "What are you insinuating now?" He asked in a lazy tone.

"Nothing. I just know that this is one of the most important occasions for you rich people, so I don't see this as the real reason why you don't want to go.", Everly explained.

Valerio blinked his other eye open and looked at her. "What do you even know?" He sighed. "Get my bath ready." He ordered, and Everly stood up from the bed.

She dropped the card on the mini table near his bed and walked into his bathroom.

"The invitation for the grande partie has arrived." Logan spoke to his father, whose eyes were fixed on the book in his hand.

"I know. Is there something you want to tell me?" Lucius questioned without sparing him a glance.

"No. I just had an idea that might be useful to our plan. Though I am not sure you might want to hear it." Logan clarified.

"An idea?" Lucius lifted his gaze from the book he was reading. "I'd like to know about it." He folded his arms in curiosity.

"Well, it's concerning Valerio and this grand parté." Logan smirked as he took his seat.

"Oh…sounds interesting. Let me hear of this idea of yours." Lucius fixed his inquisitive gaze on Logan.

"Okay." A menacing look ensued on Logan's face. "I am very sure that Valerio will be attending the grande parté, so I want to use that opportunity to destroy him." As he began to explain, his face darkened evilly.

"Destroy him? In what way exactly?" Now really interested, Lucius' brows arched in deep interest.

"Well, you are aware that the media has no idea that Valerio is blind, right?" Logan asked, and Lucius nodded his head.

"Indeed, I do."

"That is how I want to destroy him! He has perfectly hidden this from the world and those who adore him in order not to crash his business or cause his company any harm."

"Most importantly, he wants to avoid gossip and all sorts, so... I'm thinking about revealing the truth on that day." His smile grew so wide as he imagined the scenario in his head. "There would be so many reporters, and the whole world would know of the truth he has kept from them."

He elucidated.

Lucius gazed at him, sparkles filling his cold eyes.

How could he not have thought of this?

If they do this, it would be one step toward breaking Valerio's spirit.

LOSING EVERYTHING!!
