Chapter 37 - Distraction Method

It was an impulse decision.

Seeing how lucky I am to be able to book this cabin on short notice convinced me that I had to go without much thought.

I packed a lot of things, mostly for Mara and somehow, despite it all, I’m here.

There weren’t many hindrances to how we got here, however, I’m glad I did.

I couldn’t stay in Florida knowing that the two can simply pop up on me anytime.

When morning came, it was cold and tranquil I could hear the birds sing as the flow of the river by the side of the cabin calmed us.

Mara is still fast asleep with Mimi so I decided to have some coffee while looking out of the view.

Despite the years, this place remains the same and somehow, it felt relieving.

“Mama, why are we here?” Mara asks as we sit by the porch.

“I’m sorry sweetie. Mama was just overwhelmed with a lot of things right now. I got a few days off so Mama decided to take you to the most calming place she knows.”
