Chapter 48 - Neither a Rejection Nor an Affirmation

Just around the afternoon, Jeremy and I drove to La Push.

The first beach’s shore is filled with driftwood as the strong cold breeze bites our exposed skin.

I forgot how cold beaches can be in this area that I ended up shaking.

We were walking around silently when I felt something around my shoulders.

When I look down, Jeremy has placed his jacket around me as he places his hands on his pants pockets.

“Aren’t you cold?”

“I’m used to the cold.”

“Thank you,” I said as I secure the jacket around me.

“It’s been 3 days.” He said, making me stop walking. “As much as I hated it, we have to face it. I’m afraid that the longer you humor me, the more it will be hard for me to accept your choice. So just lay it on me now while the cold air can numb me.”

I sighed. I didn’t say anything because I had an amazing time with him. All the while hoping for my feelings to be better for him like I’m chanting a prayer.
