Chapter 36

“Beautiful.”

Evelyn turned her head quickly, a bright smile spreading across her face as she looked at her father.

He is dressed in a deep green tuxedo that seems almost black. It is the same shade as her dress. They are matching, was the first thought she had.

Her gown was a rich emerald velvet, soft and luxurious. The dress hugged her curves gently, fitting her like it was made just for her. Thin straps rested on her pale shoulders, leaving them bare except for a few strands of her hair that had slipped out of her elegant braid. A few baby hairs framed her face, softening her look. She hardly wore any makeup—just dark red lipstick and a smoky shadow around her eyes, making her pale eyes even more striking.

“You don’t look bad yourself,” she said, her eyes sweeping him from head to toe. He looks fine twenty four seven. But she can't complain about that. Can she?

She really does have fine ancestors.
