Chapter 8

Quinlans report to the Jedi High Council had been long since they wanted to make sure that every detail was covered and they wanted to know how one of their own had been so easily subdued and how had the youngest knight in the current Jedi Order had somehow survived a duel against someone who both men were pretty sure was on the level of a Jedi Master. " Master Vos are you sure this person was dark jedi and not a sith lord like the one on Naboo?" Master Windu knew that this would most likely be the case but Quinan's answer surprised him " No master I don't believe so according to what Thann told me that person lacked the same feeling he felt when he fought against the sith lord on Naboo but the darkside was at work in this person just like it had been in the groups that we had met early on the only thing was that this person was way more skilled in the Jedi arts."

Master Windu and Yoda both knew that there might be a possibility that they both didn't want to consider but knew that it should be voiced even if it was just speculation " Thann do you think that these dark jedi might be working for the or with the sith that you fought on Naboo?" Thann was surprised that the question was directed to him and looked to Vos for support the older jedi didn't know what to say himself so he shrugged his shoulders. Thann knew that the council was waiting so he centered himself and then gathered his thoughts and told the senior jedi what he thought " It's possible but that would need further investigation and the only lead we have so far is what I was told by the Wookie Trade Guild and I feel that might not even be enough to go on."

The Council could sense the young man's frustration build as he stated what he thought about the situation but was keeping himself under control which impressed them since he was still so young but they knew that what he said was true there were no other leads even if the Trade Federation was involved they could not investigate further unless the senate commissioned them and they didn't want to bring up the Sith being active in this situation without all the facts even the Naboo incident was not enough since it would be theorized that it was a Dark Jedi that was encountered and not the a Sith Lord. The Council knew that the situation on Kashyyyk was most likely over for the time and so decided that both Thann and Quinlan needed to return to the temple but first they would be relieved by another Jedi who would stay and as the watchmen for the planet just incase something else did happen.

The wait for the fellow Jedi to come relieve them took a few days and within that time both Thann and Quinlan decided to a bit more investigating as to who's identity might have been used to dock the ship at the landing pad where their previous fight had happened and also to get more details from the Trade Guild to see if they had held anything back or might have know about the attack that was staged against them. Both Thann and Quinlan were greeted by Tumyu who Thann who had a translator droid with him this time since Thann announced himself and Quinlan to the cameras outside the building. Thann and Quinlan were brought to Ayythers office and told to wait outside till they were summoned which didn't take long since everyone seemed to be on high alert which made the Jedi more cautious themselves and to be on the lookout for anything suspicious that might be missed, while the Jedi waited outside Ayytther was in his office dealing with another message that had been sent by the Trade Federation warning him to stop giving information to the Jedi or his family who was being held hostage would be killed and that they would know if he had disobeyed their command. A few moments later Tumyu returned and told the Jedi that Ayytther would not be able to see them and to return at a later date so the Jedi obliged them and were escorted out but as soon as they went past the entrance to the building and towards where their ship was located they noticed that Tumyu was still following them but decided to say nothing since there might be a good reason to why he was and they would soon find out.

Once they were near the ship they turned around and invited their guest to come on board and begin to walk up the ramp leading to the ships ready room and took a seat near the ships holoboard and soon was joined by Tumyu who's frame barely fit since he was so tall and the seating area was quite narrow but he made it fit anyhow and soon got down to business as he told the Jedi what the situation was in his native Wookie tongue. After a few moments Vos who understood the language translated for Thann " Your friend says that the Guild Chief is in great trouble and that his family has been kidnapped and being held hostage till either he gets us to leave or sets us up for an ambush, which puts us in a bit of a situation since we were just summoned back to the temple and our relief should be here any day now but still a family is in trouble and we're the only one's here at the moment, what do you think we should do Thann?" The young Jedi was surprised that Vos would ask his opinion since he was younger but knew that being a knight would require him to make the hard decisions and this was one of those " I think that we should wait for back up since it's already on the way since it'd be rude if we just disappeared without saying anything plus if that dark jedi from last time is the one holding the guild chiefs family I'm not sure if me and you would be enough to take him Master Vos."

Quinlan didn't fully agree since anything could happen to the chiefs family but could hear the wisdom in the what Thann had to say and knew that rushing in to this situation might just end up the death of him he agreed but he still wanted to see if he could gather some intel on what was happening to the chiefs family. to which Thann agreed would be a good idea but told his partner to " don't get caught this time or I'm not sure I can rescue you again." to which Quinlan blushed in embarrassment since the last time should not have happened and he would be on his guard more so this time as to not have a repeat mistake. Thann decided that he would relay the situation to the temple and that he and Quinlan would not be coming back when their replacement showed due to the situation.

"The situation has changed masters there seems to be more at work here then we estimated, and so Master Vos has gone to investigate the situation to try and get more information so we can plan how to deal with the hostage situation effectively and we will need help from our relief when they get here, which raises another question who is our replacements here since Master Vos never did fill me in I'd like to know." the Jedi Council members where again surprised at the maturity of the young man speaking to them and on some level where very proud that one so young was capable of handling such responsibilities but Master Windu knew that showing any favoritism would not be befitting the high council and gave his fellow masters a stern stare that told them their cards were showing which did not escape Thanns notice which caused him to question himself as to why but quickly shelved that thought for later and waited for the counsels response to his question, which he soon got," the Jedi relieving you will be Master Qui-Gon and Kenobi who have already been dispatched to your location and should be there in anther few hours and since you've worked together so well last time try and capture this dark jedi and bring him here so that we may question him." the Korun Master commanded the younger Jedi.

Thann did not have to wait long since from the time he finished his conversation with the council his relief was just finishing their landing sequence since their arrival had been much sooner than had been predicted and so Thann waited nearby to greet them. Obi-Wan had never been to Kashyyyk before making this his first time but at least he was not alone in this as his former masters padawan was in the same position and both marveled at the beauty that surrounded them.
