Headache

[BIG WARNING! THIS STORY CONTAINS: self harm, suicide, swear words, etc. make sure you do NOT read this if you don't like mentions of this sort. Thank you :)]

Kaylub lay flat on his bed after a night of no sleep. He wondered what had happened and why he hadn't had the urge to close his eyes. "Insomnia that's why" Kaylub stated. Kaylub has been suffering from insomnia for over 7 years now and hasn't even gotten about an hour of sleep at night. Doctors had tried helping Kaylub but when they tried to dig deeper and find what was causing it they just gave up and said "you're helpless." Of course, Kaylub was always brought down by this and felt a small bit of rage when the doctors told him he was helpless. But something new had happened last night, something strange… almost felt like a headache or a brain freeze. Kaylub did recall that he couldn't move during this stage. It almost was sleep paralysis while he was awake. But Kaylub had to get to work.

"Working a standard 9-5 on insomnia is never fun, at least not for anyone that is a sane person." That was one of Kaylub's quotes he had written before death. He had very bad insomnia and could only sleep up to one hour a night. Kaylub was always tired unless he got a specific drink, coffee cream, and 2 sugars. It was the thing that made him bright, the thing that made him feel well-rested. Kaylub decides to go to his own office instead of Jade's. Jade was Kaylub 's crush (yes Kaylub is bi) Kay/Kaylub, 22, has dirty blonde hair, and little stubble on his face, usually seen awake and tired. Jade/Jay, 21, blonde hair, a clear face, vaery bright gestures. Now with that out of the way… Kay worked at a game design company called THQ NORDIC, Kay didn't like it but it was enough to make the money for rent.

After work, it was cold, too cold… Kay had never had this happen in his head, why did his body go cold? It began to hurt again. Kay rushed home so as not to stay out and fuel his headache. Once he got home he again tried to go to sleep but another sleepless night went by.

The next day, sleepless the night before and tired as usual, he went off to work. As he was on his way to work, he was thinking about what had happened the night before. "What the hell?! How did it get so cold like that? That has never happened before, why now? I feel like something is happening to me…"

After over a week of sleepless nights, Kay eventually broke down at his desk, "Hey, Kaylub, is everything alright?" Jade asked, completely clueless about Kay's insomnia. Kay responded saying "I haven't slept in days… I just wanna be set free." he then showed Jade the slices on his wrist. Kay was so tired of the life he was giving up and throwing it away. Jade immediately dragged Kay to his boss' office and demanded both he and Kay take the next week off. He agreed as he saw the cuts on Kay's wrist, "Kay try and recover for me, I don't wanna have to lose you." his boss said. "I'll try not to," Kay said, sounding very sad and tired. Jade then proceeded to take Kay to his house where he gave him some sleeping pills, (on the way to Jade's house Kay said he has insomnia and couldn't sleep) made Kay comfy on the couch, and waited till he eventually fell asleep. For once he was able to sleep, but only for 2 hours.

When Kay woke up Jade greeted him back into reality. He still felt tired but felt a little better. "Do you feel better?" Asked Jade. "Yeah, a little bit," Kay said as he flopped his head on a pillow. "I kind of feel like I have a faint headache." Jade then went and got him some aspirin for his headache. "Here, take these," he said as he gave the aspirin to Kay. After he took the aspirin, about 2 minutes of silence passed. Then, he was back in a state where he was unable to move. But this time, he felt cold and had a vision. He hadn't thought much about it and just described it as a dream while awake. Jade looked at Kay's wrists and noticed there were some new ones, fresh blood was seeping out. "Why do you hurt yourself? You don't need to, it only makes things worse," Jade said soothingly to Kay. He decided it would be better if he had just thought about suicide and not do suicide. The aspirin started to wear off… the headache was back just very faintly, it was almost a flashback that hurt, but he couldn't move again. Jade wondered what was going on, was it another headache… it couldn't be. "Kay are you alright?" Kay didn't respond. His eyes were locked in the center of the room. Soon the effects wore off. "I'm tired Kay… we can do some things tomorrow but right now rest is what I'm doing." Jade soon fell asleep.

On their final day of the mentality break, Jade examined Kay and he looked alright again, but something was off. Almost like something was broken in him, he just didn't show it. Kay noticed he saw something wrong, it was his knees… there were slits on his knees. Brand new covered slits, Kay thought he could hide them but it was no use. Jade decided to call out for another 3 days and try to get Kay back on track. On the first day, Kaylub was given sleeping pills and passed out, but only for 30 minutes.

Kay's insomnia was getting worse and worse over the days, and before he knew it, he wasn't sleeping at all. Jade decided to get him to a hospital to help with his insomnia as it was able to be cured, just wouldn't be easy. While Jade was on the phone with the brain specialist, Kay began to start cutting his wrists again. He even made a small cut on the side of his neck as a reminder of where to cut when things go out of hand.

Jade came back and saw blood on Kay's hands and pocket knife. "Kay… why do you do this, it only hurts everyone else," Jade said with tears in his eyes. "I do it for your safety Jade, if I don't do this things get out of hand, and I could end up killing more than just me," Kay said, shaking. He then collapsed. Jade, terrified, rushed Kay to the hospital where he waited countless hours for him to wake up.

(same warning as before, short)

Kay woke up in what looked to be a very bright room with no lights or people around, just a mirror and a couch. Kay walked up to the mirror but his reflection wasn't the same… it was almost like a shadow figure that he had seen before, same red eyes, completely black, and no mouth or nose either, it was his hallucination. The room began to get darker, the music became louder and more distorted, then he woke up. Jade hugged Kay as to give him a sign of relief but Kay was still trying to comprehend what just happened. First a completely white room and now a hospital. "What happened Jade?" Kay asked, Jade, didn't respond. He just started to cry on Kay's shoulder, not tears of heartbreak, but tears of joy that he was alive. 3 minutes passed, and then Jade told Kay what happened.

Every day after that, Jade thought about what had happened to Kay. On the way home from the hospital Kay told him everything, the white room, his reflection, and his illusions. Kay then fell asleep in the car. After an hour, Kay woke up on Jade's bed. His legs were numb, his arms felt heavy, his headache was back and it hurt like hell. "God dammit my head!" Kay shouted. Jade quickly rushed to his room and asked what was wrong. He saw that Kay had his hands on his head and that he had tears in his eyes. "P-please help me, Jade. Please…" Kay then collapsed again Kay woke up on the couch with Jade right next to him. Both were in the sitting-up position with his head on Jade's shoulder.

"Welcome back, that's the second time this week Kay," Jade said, tired. Jade had also fallen asleep on Kay's head when he leaned up on his shoulder. Kay felt comforted for once in the long 7 years of insomnia. Kay hadn't eaten in around 3 days and was starving. Jade got him some food and he felt better but still cold somehow. His head was faint again but still there. A few hours passed by and it was now midnight. Jade was heading to bed and told Kay not to stay up too long. But yet again another sleepless night went by. Kay decided that food was kinda important and started to eat again. It wasn't too long after when the food started to suddenly poison him. He then woke up in the white room again, same white couch, the same mirror, and the same reflection but something was missing. There were only five pictures. One of them is called the dream eater. Then it shot out at Kay and he woke up on the floor with the taste of blood in his mouth. He started coughing and soon enough there was blood on the floor yet again.

(trigger warning some events in this section are very likely to trigger some events mentally, VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED)

Kay arrived to work on a nice Tuesday morning, 7:15 AM. The weather was nice, there was a small breeze, and he was finally happy. Kay arrived and saw Jade happier than ever to see him. Even though Kay hadn't slept, he was in a good mood for once. He sat down at his desk and started to work. Everything then changed to white. He saw his desk and everyone but the room was white. The same mirror appeared behind him and he walked toward it. The same black reflection jumped out at him tackling him. "GET THE HELL OFF ME!" Kay screamed. The black figure did so and Kay jumped up. "What are you… WHAT DO YOU WANT?!" Kay said forcefully. The black figure said nothing. It just looked at him with its creepy red eyes and completely pitch-black skin. A cloud of what looked to be black steam was coming off of the figure, it formed the words 'HAVE FUN WITH YOUR PARALYSIS.' Kay backed up terrified. Everything disappeared, nothing was there, just him. Then he woke up. Kay couldn't move again. Jade looked over and saw he was struggling to move. Jade rushed over and got him on the ground. He wondered why this was happening to him. Kay tried moving but only was able to slightly move his fingers.

A few hours later Kay was still on the ground but he was able to move his head at least. It hurt but he was able to do it. Jade called the paramedics and they arrived in the next 30 minutes. "Everything crazy has only happened in this month and only this year. Of the 7 years of insomnia I've had, this has never happened." Kay stated confused. Jade was back at the office and he was assured Kay would be alright. Kay on the other hand was struggling to talk and the paramedics were rushing him to a hospital where he would be treated further. Once again Kay snapped into the white room. "This place again… every time I get the treatment it always brings me he-" he was cut off by shadow Kay. He had thrown a knife at his hands. Kay screamed in pain. He fell on the floor and the shadow figure started to strangle him. Right before Kay's windpipe broke he let go. Then Kay woke up. He only had been out for 5 minutes, the doctors told him. Then Jade walked through the door. "Why is it you? Why do only you have to have this happen!" Jade said with tears in his eyes. Jade then saw a rope line on Kay's neck, the exact spot where the shadow figure tried to strangle him. Jade hugged Kay tightly and said, "I've got to get back to the office."

Kay knew he wasn't going back to the office and he was going home. Another sleepless night went by but Kay got a call from Jade saying he was gonna get him from the hospital. One of his neighbors had insomnia and was able to cure it in 2 days. Kay couldn't believe the news he just heard! Jade finally arrived and signed Kay out, the house was only 5 minutes away. Jade had agreed to the guy that he would be there in 10 minutes after he left his house. The two sat in the car, only silence. The silence was broken by a crash in front of them, both a Nissan 390 GTR and a chevy E-Silverado collided. Jade decided to call the guy and tell him that he would have to schedule for tomorrow because there was a bad accident. The ambulance arrived and so did the police. One was found severely hurt and the other 3 dead. The GTR containing 2 drivers was totaled, it had lost the entire front, most of the rear was damaged, and the side was caved in. The passenger survived while the driver did not. The Chevy E-Silverado sustained heavy damage, the entire front caved in. Both driver and passengers were crushed and died of their injuries.

Kay lies devastated after watching 3 people die and one come out severely hurt.

(same warnings, this one includes more self-harm and suicide along with situations where if you are like this, you're not alone)

Kay looked at his scarred wrists, then he felt a feeling of cold, not just any cold, the same cold as the headache. It had come back hurting more than ever, Kay noticed his wounds had opened again on his wrist. Kay panicked and rushed towards the bathroom where he found a roll of bandages and patched his wrists up but the blood kept on seeping through. Kay panicked and screamed Jade's name. Jade came running upstairs and saw Kay in panic as he was turning pale. Jade quickly got his shirt off and wrapped it around Kay's wrists. He then told him to keep pressure on the wounds while he looks for stronger bandages.

"Jade… everything is spinning… I feel dizzy" Kay said before passing out. The pressure on his wrist was gone and his wrist was bleeding fast. By the time Jade had come back, it was too late. Kay lied on the floor in a pool of his blood. Jade, devastated, yells at Kay to wake up, he even shakes Kay's body but he doesn't wake up. Although it looked like Kay was dead, he was still alive. He could hear Jade screaming, but it sounded like he was underwater. "KAY WAKE UP PLEASE!" Jade cried, but nothing, no response. If anything it was just silence with the occasional sobs of Jade. He decided to call 911 and get him to a hospital before he was gone for good. Kay woke up alone in the cold room of what looked to be a morgue, but it was only his hospital. He noticed the bandages were removed from his arms, but the scars were still there. He looked to his right and saw Jade passed out in the chair next to his bed. "How long was I here for him to be completely out…" Kay thought. Scars were built into his wrist, they weren't light scars either. Jade had finally woken up when Kay was snacking on some jello. Then Jade proceeded to show Kay the scars on his wrists, forearms, and legs. He even had a slice on his neck right where Kay had his. Kay then broke into tears, Jade held him tight to comfort but his slices were still open and the tears stung him. "I'm gonna go back home now," Jade said shakily, Kay nodded and he left.

When Jade had gotten home he had grabbed some rope, a knife, and a stool. Jade then hammered a nail into the wall, set up the noose, wrote a note, sliced his wrist one last time, and then put his neck through the loop and kicked the stool. Jade stopped moving as his last tears seeped out. "I'll miss you, Kay… I'm sorry." Those were Jade's last words before it all went black.

When Kay was discharged, he went over to Jade's house and smelled something rotting. He thought nothing of it but when he went to the staircase he saw a kicked-over stool and Jade on the rope. Kay stared in utter shock. "Jade! Why did you do this!? I don't want to lose you, not yet!" no response.

Meanwhile, Jade saw what Kay had described to him. White room, mirror on one wall, and a white sofa. Jade's reflection was different though, he was all white and had angel-like wings. Had it caught up to him, he had done something right and was rewarded with a white figure with angelic wings. Then he woke up, noose still on his neck as he was on the floor. He then saw Kay laying next to him holding him tight, never to let go. He noticed he was asleep and calm, Jade decided to wait for him to wake up, as it wouldn't be too long. And he was correct, Kay woke up 5 minutes later. Jade saw tears dripping down Kay's shirt as he was glad he was alive.

It had been over 1 year since Jade tried to kill himself and things were finally getting better, then he reappeared in the room. At first, he thought he was alone but then he saw Kay standing next to him. He was midnight black with red eyes. Turns out Jade had also gotten worse as his figure was light gray. It still had wings, but the wings looked as if they were beaten on. "Why are you like this, Jade?" his shadow figure spoke to him. "I- I'm just trying to help!" Jade screamed as the room went darker. "Since when was helping beating yourself up, hoping that the person you're helping will like you more?" Just then the floor collapsed, leaving nothing but dust.
