Chapter 41 Zhao Jiajia

The crowd around the two people quickly dispersed, creating a small circle with each person looking on as if expecting to enjoy a good show.

Just then, an association staff member dressed in a suit rushed over.

"Both of you have signed contracts, please consider carefully. If you start a fight within the association, not only will you be expelled, but you will also be sought after by the Governor."

Sonni nodded with a smile as the translucent fluid on Charles's body quickly retracted into his clothes. "Mr. Charles, I truly mean no harm."

"What the hell do you want?" Charles frowned, sensing a premonition that if he didn't resolve this matter today, this guy would continue to be an incessant nuisance.

Sonni pointed towards the edge of the hall, gesturing for him to go over.

In the quiet corner of the hall, Sonni looked at Charles with a smile, "Captain Charles, what do you know about our Church?"

"I can't say I know much, but I've heard some rumors, like how joining your Church requires an initiation ceremony where steel needles are inserted into the brain right beside the eyeballs, and you claim it brings Sun God's blessing."

"Mr. Charles, don't you think such a ceremony is practical? In this cursed sea, the greatest danger to humans is the fear within our brains. Once you receive the blessing in our Church, you will never feel fear again. This is also why the survival rate of our Sun God Sect's exploration ship captains is the highest."

"Why don't you mention the high death rate from undergoing such a ceremony? Is it a blessing or a curse? Never mind your Light God, let me ask you something, do you even know what the Sun looks like?"

"Of course." Sonni pointed to his forehead. "This is what my Lord looks like."

Looking at the white triangle, Charles almost laughed out loud. "The Sun is triangular?"

"Why not? This is the answer given by the oracle."

"The Sun is round, you idiot!" Charles's voice rose in pitch.

"Have you seen it? Why are you so sure?"

"I..." Charles barely held back the few words he was about to say.

Sonni gestured with a prayerful hand. "Alright, since you're not one of us, I won't argue doctrine with you. My visit is to seek a commission from you."

"A commission?"

"It won't take up much of your time. If Mr. Charles is going to Sodoma, you could incidentally deal with some people for me—they're also from the Sun God Sect. They just have some differing views."

"Why do you know I'm going to Sodoma?" This feeling of invasion made Charles very uncomfortable.

Sonni smiled, "Outstanding people naturally attract attention. As long as Mr. Charles shows sincerity, we will have more opportunities to cooperate. You must be running low on funds at this point, right?"

"What if I refuse?" Charles sneered.

"I believe Mr. Charles will agree. You were willing to cooperate with those deformed from the Futan Sect, so why wouldn't you agree to something that benefits both sides?"

"Heh." Charles touched his nose. "At least the Futan Sect is a bit better than you, they at least understand courtesy."

With that, Charles turned and left without looking back.

In principle, he should have accepted this deal, as Charles indeed needed the funding. However, first, he disliked the man's tone, and second, he didn't want to get involved in the power struggles of the cults.

As soon as Charles returned to his residence and entered, his keen senses immediately told him that someone had been there.

He thought of something, rushed to the drawer, and upon opening it, he found that someone had indeed tampered with his journal.

"Lily? What happened after I left?" Charles asked with a hint of anxiety in his voice.

"You hadn't been gone long when she came in..." A cry-tinged voice came from beneath the bed.

"What did that person look like? Did they have an inverted triangle in the middle of their forehead?"

A docile Lily crawled out, her fur terribly disheveled at that moment, "It was that sister you know."

"Which sister?"

"The sister from the drawing in your diary."

"Anna?!" Charles's pupils contracted to pinpoints as he quickly rushed to Lily and took her by the hand.

"Are you sure it's her? Or just someone who looks similar?"

"It really was her. She even wrote something on the back of that drawing. Mr. Charles, why didn't you tell me, that sister wasn't human but a monster?"

Charles dropped the mouse he was holding and hurriedly took out the drawing from his diary, flipping it over to see neatly written Chinese characters before him.

"I never expected that you would draw a portrait of me. You said I was fake, yet you still thought of me."

"Actually, when I saw that drawing, I was quite happy inside, that the man I love, even in death, still had me on his mind."

"Gao Zhiming, I am fake, and so is our relationship. Everything was created by the Divva Clan."

"I know what you're thinking now. Surely, you're saying, 'I don't care that you are a fiction, I'll find a way to free you from the monster's control.'"

"But you're wrong. In fact, I am that monster, that monster is me, we are inseparable."

"The Divva Clan has no brain, their hunting and survival depend solely on instinct. When we need to think, we create a consciousness, and I am that created consciousness."

"I miss you terribly now and want to be by your side every moment, and I believe you miss me just the same. But we both know, even this longing is false."

"I came here today intending to bid you farewell with a final tryst. Since you're not here, let's forget it."

"I don't want to be controlled by false emotions. I plan to head to Earth Sea to find the meaning of my existence. Don't come looking for me. Go find your Earth's surface in peace."

From Zhao Jiajia.

P.S. (By the way, if you find another woman, don't let me find out, otherwise, I really won't be able to resist devouring them.)

Charles, his mind a jumbled mess, threw the paper in his hand aside and asked the white mouse beside him, eyes bloodshot, "How long ago did she leave?"

"About half an hour."

Without another word, Charles dashed out, bit his thumb with his teeth forcefully, and smeared the blood on the mirror's surface. His body began to transform rapidly; a gigantic bat started to glide swiftly at low altitude.

In a dark alley, Anna in a gorgeous red dress watched the bat in the sky, yellow-green tears falling from her eyes.

At that moment, a burly arm laid on her pale shoulder. "How much for one night, Echo?"

Anna gently wiped away her tears, turned to face the drunken sot, "Two hundred for one time, eight hundred for the whole night."

Seeing Anna's angelic face, the drunkard was momentarily stunned, and upon regaining his senses, excitedly began to unbuckle his belt. "Eight hundred it is then!! I'm taking it!!"

With an air of grace, Anna walked towards him, and from the fair skin of her back that had split open, black-rooted tentacles slowly emerged.
