"Mr. Charles, let's hurry and go; I'm a bit scared of this thing..." Lily, with her drooping ears, shrank into Charles's pocket.
"Shh."
"Snap!" The motionless husk suddenly stood upright, startling Lily into a scream.
"Tap tap tap tap." It turned and headed deeper down the corridor.
After pondering for a moment, Charles followed. Whatever this thing was, it lived here and was likely more familiar with this place than himself; following it, he might find more clues.
"Dude, do you think this thing is here to receive some kind of blessing?"
"I'm not sure, but looking at the ruins outside, this place has been abandoned for at least a few hundred years. If this thing used to be a staff member working here, then how old would it be?"
"Who knows in this damned place—what if it exchanged all its internal organs for a longer life?"
