Chapter 96: The False City

Charles had thought that getting over the high wall would take some effort, but after a brief search, he saw a number of small doors at the base of the wall, suggesting that it was not meant to keep out humans.

As Charles gestured, the group slowly entered the fortress-like island.

Having just passed through the thick wall's tunnel, Charles was stunned by the scene before him.

Had he not been at sea just moments ago, he would have thought he had returned to Earth's surface.

Inside the wall, a series of modern buildings were neatly aligned, with typical towering skyscrapers above and fast-food restaurants, cell phone stores, clothing shops and more below.

It was a city, an empty, modern city.

Time had not left its mark on these buildings; everything was so clean and tidy, with not even a speck of dust on the ground.
