Chapter 144 Halted

Charles's heart suddenly tightened, and he quickly grabbed Lily, turning to shield her from the sunlight with his body. "Have you lost your mind?"

"Mr. Charles, don't worry, I'm fine, the sunlight doesn't seem to harm rats."

"How do you know?"

"It's true, Mao Mao and the others just sneakily followed you to the woods."

As Charles saw the chipper rats beside him, none of which had died, he finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Perhaps the rats are different from Earth Sea humans in their constitution; it now seemed clear that the sunlight does not hurt these rodent creatures.

"Indeed, rats and cockroaches are the strongest in adapting to this world," Charles found the most likely answer.

Lily scratched at the crisscrossing wounds on Charles's body with her claws. "Really? Rats are that incredible?"

"Yeah, Lily, you're amazing." Lying on the warm beach, a drowsiness washed over Charles, and he closed his eyes in a daze. "Lily, I'm going to sleep for a bit."
