Earth, Year 2152.
In the serenade of the black, the stars are a choir; they are lights that sing in infinite patterns. Sometimes eyes need music, and the darker the night the sweeter the song.
A teenage man can be seen laying unconscious in the middle of the forest that is located in the national park of 'Human Domain' which is a part of the Central continent shared by the race of Dwarf and Elf.
A leaf from one of the trees in the surrounding was blown by the calming night breeze and landed on the young man's face. In response, the man's finger twitched before his eyes followed by fluttering open, revealing a pair of unique alluring amethyst-like violet eyes that slightly shone in the dark.
The boy's eyes darted left and right, observing the new environment he found himself in.
'What is this place?...I was sure I died back there...'
The boy in question is Rhys Levine, the former Archmage and War Hero of the 'Greenburn Empire'.
—Rustle
The sound of bush fluttering entered his ears which naturally caused him to look at the source, his body feels stiff which made it hard for him to move as he wished.
Even after staring at the bush for a few minutes, nothing came out.
'...It's been forever since I have felt this tired...'
He thought to himself after feeling a weird sense of mental fatigue. And so, his eyelids started becoming heavier over time before it completely blocked his eyes.
...
A few hours after Rhys fell asleep, a magical portal appeared 20 meters away from his current position. Magical Portal are 'Gates' that connect the human world to the otherworld dungeon.
Of course, there are tons of people in this world that deal with Gates, Monsters, Beasts, Material, Artifact, and etc. That group of people are referred to as 'Hero' by the Human around the world but the other race referred them as 'Warriors'.
Being extra to sensitive to mana, it is not weird for Rhys to wake up.
'Turbulent Space-time mana is radiating from that direction...' Rhys quickly analyzed the mana he sensed within a second which is an astonishing feat even for an Archmage. This displayed his vast knowledge and observation skills.
'It could be an exit or an entrance to something' It was natural for a Magician to be curious especially an Archmage who dedicate his time researching.
So, to satisfy his curiosity, Rhys slowly stood up but then a sharp pain suddenly struck his head which made him who had a certain level of pain tolerance to even groan. From the passerby's perspective it may seemed like he's experiencing normal headache, but the pain Rhys is currently experiencing could easily make any other person fell unconscious due to the immense pain that attack one's hypothalamus.
Just as the pain subdued did Rhys had the time to calm his ragged breathing,
'What was that...?'
"Euk!" Rhys unconsciously grunted, as his body heated up to the point that enduring it is close to impossible. He abruptly knelt down as if his leg gave in, unable to keep on standing.
It didn't even take 5 seconds for Rhys to completely get soaked in his own sweat, his eyes turned bloodshot as he strongly gritted his teeth.
'Mana Authority...'
A thought appeared in his head as he found this situation familiar.
"Keuh!" Rhys went down on all four as he is unable to support himself in a kneeling position any longer.
The excruciating pain continued without showing him any mercy for 2 minutes which is like 2 hours or even 20 hours in Rhys's perspective.
"Haa...Haa..." Rhys laid flat on the ground with his back facing up, completely tire out. Soon, drowsiness overwhelm him as he once again lost consciousness.
Rhys failed to notice the unique black crown-like crest mark with that just got carved on the back of his bleeding right hand.
A few minutes after Rhys had fallen asleep, a group of 3 people wearing light armor arrived in the middle of the park, overlooking at the blue swirling oval Gate.
"Brian, analyze the Gate's rank. It shouldn't be higher than D rank looking from its size and the mana that it is emitting." A muscular bald tall man said to his comrade, Brian, who's an expert in Gate Analysis.
"I know~ I know." Brian waved as he made his way towards to the Gate.
"Haa...Hey Ember, wanna bet? I bet that this is an E rank Gate" The muscular bald man said to his other comrade, Ember, a woman with a fiery temper and personality that matched her shoulder-length blazing red hair and red orange eyes.
"HAA?! The Gate itself is definitely E rank that is on the verge of breaking into D rank! I don't accept the bet!" Ember learned from her past mistake and took mental note to not bet with this shiny head comrade of hers.
"What? Are you chicke-...There's someone there, what's he doing in the park at this time?" The bald man stopped mid-sentence before looking at a certain direction not far from the Gate, 20 meters approximately, where he sensed a presence.
"John! I've analyzed the Gate!" Brian yelled from the entrance of the active Gate.
"Got it! Hey, Ember, can you handle that?" The bald man named John yelled back at Brian before asking Ember to handle the unconscious man.
"Whatever" Ember waved before leaping once and perfectly landed in front of the unconscious teenage boy, who is none other than Rhys.
"Hmm..." Ember didn't immediately carry Rhys, but she observed him first, it's a habit of hers.
Soon, her eyes spotted something that instantly gave her the information about Rhys's identity, a unique watch that only a certain group of people in this world could have access to.
"A student from [Aegis Academy], maybe a soon-to-be freshman" Ember muttered as she carried Rhys's body and placed it over her shoulder like a sack of potatoes, she didn't see Rhys's facial appearance as his hair is covering it nor did she see the crest mark on Rhys's backhand as his bleeding backhand covered it.
"Ember! It's E ranked~!" John childishly yelled from afar, which gained Ember a tick mark on her forehead.

Hospital XXXX,
Rhys can be seen waking up on a hospital bed and the first thing that he perceive is the pungent smell of antiseptic, a little bitter, with undertones of the artificial fragrance contained in soaps and cleaners.
'What's that smell...?' Thought Rhys as he started observing the new environment he found himself in.
It is natural for Rhys, who came from a place where there's no hospital, to not know the distinct smell of hospital.
Rhys then sat up and started circulating mana around his body. After a few seconds, a slight frown appeared on his face.
'...Mana vessel blockage...Tangled mana pathway...' Rhys noticed that his body condition to control mana is not good but even so, he stretched his right hand out and forcefully channeled mana towards his right palm that is covered in white bandages.
"Ice Wall" Rhys muttered.
—FWOOSH!
A three meter tall thick ice wall appeared from the floor in front of him, with its tip touching the room's ceiling.
'Hmm...' Rhys once again frown, as frostbite appeared and covered his entire right palm along with the bandages which slightly startled Rhys at this phenomenon.
'...What's with this anti-mage constitution?' Rhys commented on about his body's constitution before applying fire mana to melt off the chunk of ice he created along with the frostbite on his palm.
'...Hmm' Rhys noticed that his mana movement's became slower compared to when he casted Ice Wall.
'Not only frostbite but ice elements cools my mana vessel down resulting in slower mana movement' Rhys analyzed with a frown.
'For me to have such an anti-mage constitution...what happened to me?' Rhys thought as he grabbed the bed's handle as a support and stood up.
Just as Rhys is about to explore the room, The door to the Rhys's room automatically slid open.
—Swiss
And a person wearing a doctor attire entered with a touchscreen tablet in hand.
"It's good to see you recovering, Magnus Kaiser" The doctor said as he put his tablet down on the table close to Rhys's bed.
"So, how are you feeling?" The doctor turned towards Rhys and asked.
Rhys, or now Magnus, turned around and saw the visitor, who seemed to be a physician or a healer.
He didn't know what language he's speaking but it seemed that he understood it clearly,
"I'm fine" Rhys spoke calmly to the doctor before his eyes spotted a wristcompass-like equipment.
Seeing where Magnus's eyes landed, the doctor grabbed the special smartwatch and handed to Magnus.
"Oh! Here's your 'Aegis Academy watch'"
Though skeptical, Magnus accepted the watch and wear it on his left wrist. Looking at the black screen display on the watch.
'What kind of wrist compas- Watch is this without anything for me to read?' Magnus thought as he accidently tapped the screen expecting to...fix it,
—Ting~
The previously black smartwatch display changed, as a translucent 3D screen appeared above the watch, the caused Magnus's eyes to widen in surprise for a second before composing himself.
Magnus then curiously started analyzing this artifact as the doctor in the room blurted out,
"Oh! You're a first year Scholar Mage and a first ranker in that department huh? Not bad kid, I'm truly amazed to see such a genius." The doctor read the mirrored text that appeared on Magnus's pop up 3D screen.
