80. Innocents should be spared

Anisha cheered in excitement of getting a new member to their club and ran off to tell the others. Moments later, she came back to Olivia, leading Mainak, Samrat and Srijan behind her.

"Hello." they greeted their new friend and properly introduced themselves.

Now that those trash talkers had distanced themselves from Olivia, Anisha and Samrat took the seat behind her while Mainak and Srijan found themselves a new seat in the adjacent row.

"The way you beat that fatherf*cker earlier was superb. Absolute chef's kiss." Samrat said, making exaggerated hand movements to convey his delight.

His eyes shone with admiration. Olivia nodded in acknowledgement and thanked him for his praise.

"What should we call you?" Srijan asked from the side.

He was standing in the passage between the two rows and due to his big body, he was almost blocking the whole way.

"Hey, fatty, why are you blocking the way with that boulder of a body? Move!" One of the students, who was trying to reach his seat, shoved him.

This caused Srijan to lose his balance and tumble over the nearby seats.

The boy roared in laughter, "Hahaha. Fatty rolled down like a ball. That was so funny."

The space was narrow so Srijan hit his head and elbow at a corner of a table as he fell down. He massaged those places and groaned in pain. Seeing his friend get hurt, Samrat threw a punch at the guy who pushed Srijan but the boy was quick enough to dodge the blow. In the mean time, Mainak and Anisha rushed to Srijan's aid.

"You piece of sh*t! How dare to push him?" Anisha glared at the guy and said.

"Huh! Who said I pushed him? I just told him to move aside. And my hand just touched his body. What can I do if Mr round fatty ball rolls at just a single touch?" the boy said with a smirk.

Mainak also felt like slapping him for calling his friend names.

"Did he push you?" Samrat barely restrained his fist and turned to Srijan.

Srijan shook his head. It was true. The boy actually did not put much force when he pushed him aside, but the way Srijan fell down made it look like he was pushed hard.

"But you still laughed at him." Mainak pushed his glasses up and said with a frown.

"What's wrong with that? It was funny how he rolled over with just a light touch. He would make a great bowling ball. He's heavy as well as rolls smoothly." the boy sneered.

"And you! I haven't taken my revenge yet." Saying that, he punched Samrat and they broke into a catfight.

While fighting, they had travelled all the way to the door trying to get more space. But right then, the teacher who was about to enter the class, got elbowed in the abdomen by Samrat. He had drawn his hand backwards to punch his opponent but accidentally ended up landing a hard blow on the teacher.

Everyone gasped. It was so loud that the two of them stopped fighting to see why everyone was staring at them so shocked. Samrat had his back towards the teacher so he was the most puzzled. More so when his opponent sprang back like he was induced with electricity and hurriedly stood up. Finally noticing that everyone's eyes were locked on the door behind him, he turned around. Then froze.

The teacher was clutching her stomach where she was just hit and said with gritted teeth, "Go. To. The. Detention room."

The two boys glared at each other, silently blaming one another for the trouble they landed in. They had to stay in the detention room for the entire first half of school and spat with the elite students of combat class as punishment. Although both of them had chosen a combat sports for Minor Subject, their opponents were a whole other level.

Once Samrat and his battered body was back, Mainak, Anisha and Srijan surrounded him, carrying ice packs in hand.

When they came near Olivia's desk, Srijan looked at her with sad eyes and asked, "Earlier when Samrat was being sent to detention, we all protested. Why didn't you say anything?"

In their gang, all of them had each other's back. If one got into trouble, others tried their best to save them. Since Olivia was now a member of their club, Srijan was a little disappointed that she did not utter a word in Samrat's defence when he clearly was not in the wrong.

"That's because he was at fault," Olivia said without a hint of doubt.

"How so?" Mainak asked.

Samrat, Srijan and Anisha nodded, supporting his question. They were confused by her statement.

"Look, if you start a fight inside the classroom, you're bound to hurt someone innocent. Then what's the difference between him and you? If you want to beat him up, take him to the ring. Fight your problems out fair and square. Fighting in class only makes you look like thugs." Olivia explained.

The four went quiet for a moment. Then, Samrat burst out laughing.

"Hell yeah! That's my teammate!" Samrat laughed and extended his fist.

"You're right. It was my fault."

Olivia stared at his fist for a while and extended hers too but did not touch his. Samrat recalled her words about not liking touching others or getting touched. They did a fist bump without actually bumping.

Anisha nodded her head vigorously. Mainak chuckled at her words and Srijan slapped his forehead, realising that they got another member who preferred fists over words. He was already worried all day with Samrat, now Olivia joined too.

"But wait." Anisha suddenly interjected.

"You also beat up that person the other day."

"Yes, but I shouldn't have done that. I let my emotions cloud my judgement and got punished for that." Olivia bowed her head, ashamed of her misconduct over a slight conflict.

"It's okay. You realised you were wrong so you'll be more aware of your reactions to such people." Mainak smiled.

"I hope he learns a lesson too." He looked at Samrat's bruised face.
