It’s a strange word to use but before I can ask her what she means, there’s a knock on the door.
It’s Phil.
“We’ll be in the next room,” I tell Kayla. “Will you be okay here by yourself?”
She stares at me for a moment and then the orange in her eyes disappears and I’m once again looking at the ten year old girl who is yawning and nodding.
I lock the door behind me before before entering the soldiers room.
I see Lucas and I turn my gaze away, settling them on Carmine and my voice is cold, “What the hell were you thinking?!”
She just gives me a careless look, “What? I did what I had to do.”
I get in her face, “You put the entire mission in jeopardy, you stupid girl!”
One of her soldiers hisses at the insult, “Watch how you talk to her!”
