CHAPTER FIFTY

“We want you as the Alpha.”

All eyes turn towards me as Ted and two other lieutenants speak up, their voices firm.

“What?” I look around at the pack and I can see the agreement in their eyes.

“You’ve protected us since day one,” Clara murmurs. “It’s only right. And you are strong and smart, even for your age. Lucas is strong but you know how to lead and make decisions. You came back just to protect us and that’s something only an Alpha does. You put everything on the line for this pack. We’ve seen it.”

My heart pounds in my chest and I look towards Lucas, confused.

“There’s never been a female Alpha.”

“That’s not entirely true,” Aliya murmurs. “Before the Great War, there used to be plenty of female Alphas. They bound the shifter community together and all existing packs were harmonious. There was trading between packs and there were open channels of communication.”

“I’ve never heard of this,” Joseph says, startled.
