CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FOUR
‘These arrows were always intended for you.’
I burrow into the sheets, the words from a day ago swirling inside my brain. I’ve not seen Damien since but Fera has come and checked on my wounds every few hours.
However, I feel numb and uncaring.
My dreams have stopped and if I ever do dream at night, it’s like I am encased in a dark shield, safe and protected. I don’t know what that means but at least I can sleep peacefully. However, what Fera told me is haunting me.
I remember that day when I saw Balin coating these arrows in posion. He was sitting outside his cottage, and he had smiled at me so lovingly, all the while as he prepared the weapon to kill me.
Wolfsbane is only fatal to wolf shifters.
And Balin would know that.
It wasn’t as if there were other wolf shifters that were around the Forest of Shadows. And the elves were strong enough to take on numerous wolf shifters on their own.

I stare at the ceiling dazed.
