CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY SIX
“Thousands of them,” Fera says, following my gaze. “From the looks of it, they’ve come prepared for a full out war.”
“I still don’t really understand,” I murmur as I follow Fera and the others outside. “The elves want to take over the demon realm but they can’t even survive here.”
Fera is silent, her expression tense, “That’s where the Righ comes in. You can purify this land for them. But they are going against nature’s will and that never ends well for them.”
“That’s not the whole story though, is it?” I ask, quietly, and her expression closes off.
“It’s complicated, Isabel. But just to be clear, the demon realm has always belonged to the demons. We were never greedy for something that wasn’t ours. We may love fighting. We may be more cruel by nature but we have never sought what was not ours to begin with.”
But the elves did.
Her meaning is clear enough.
