Hate

"Boss, a man is here to see you." A bodyguard announced as he stepped into the room.

Kieran narrowed his eyes at the bodyguard. "Who is he?"

"I have never seen him before." Answered the bodyguard. "He didn't mention his name, and he says he is of great importance to you." He added.

Kieran glanced at the wall clock, it was past 3:00 am. Who would come to see him by this time? A vampire?

"You may leave."

The bodyguard bowed and left the room.

Kieran slipped into his robe, he had just gotten out of the shower. He left the room shutting the door behind him. He peered down from the railings and he saw a man dressed in a black cloak standing by the door.

Kieran stood at the stairs, his arms folded. "Who are you?"

"Someone who will be of great help, prince Kieran." The man in the cloak responded.

Kieran raised his eyebrows. "What did he mean by that?"

His suspicions were confirmed. It was a vampire. No one knew he was a prince except someone from Zanthes.

The man slowly took his cloak off to reveal his red hair before his face came into full sight. Kieran was surprised to see him. It was Cephus, his bodyguard back in Zanthes.

"I'm not surprised. You used your cunning ways to cheat death."

Cephus was wanted for killing most of the humans that traded and worked in Zanthes. He was also wanted for stealing from King Reginald.

The King had sent his strongest vampires after Cephus after he fled Zanthes. Unfortunately, the vampires encountered witches and were killed except for Cephus who was captured. The King had gotten wind of the attack, he concluded that Cephus would be killed so he just let him be.

How did you find me? Seems you've been keeping tabs on me." Kieran glared at him.

"My prince, you've got it all wrong." Cephus quickly responded. " I'm not keeping tabs on you. I just happened to overhear some vampires talking about it." Cephus replied, he didn't want to get on Kieran's bad side, or else his purpose of coming here would be futile.

Kieran came down and took a seat in the armchairs that had been neatly arranged in the living room. Cephus took a careful step and came forward, making sure to keep a safe distance.

"Why have you come here?"

"My prince, I believe my help will be greatly needed. I overhead the vampires saying that you were in search of Danva's chosen one." Said, Cephus. "If I may ask why are you looking for her? Do you intend to marry her?" He asked and he held his breath as he waited for an answer.

Kieran shot him a death stare, murder in his eyes. That was enough to pass the message to Cephus, one more slip-up and his lifeless body would be dragged out of there.

"Forgive my stupidity, my prince." He quickly apologized.

"Any more ludicrous words from you and I'll snap your neck into two," Kieran warned. "I have not come here to find her because I want to marry her. I'm here to retrieve the Amulet of Danva." He stated.

"The Amulet of Danva?" Cephus stared at him in surprise. "My prince, why would you possibly want the amulet?"

"To destroy all the witches." Kieran gritted his teeth in anger. The mere mention of witches made him fume with rage. "Those creatures must be wiped out from the face of the earth."

Cephus was taken aback by his response. He knew Kieran and the witches never saw eye to eye but he hadn't expected Kieran to take such a big step.

"My prince, I understand your hate towards them but the witches are not what—"

"Shut up." Kieran cut him off sharply."The witches are responsible for the death of my parents so why should I have mercy on them?"

Kieran had sworn to avenge his parents after they were gruesomely murdered by the witches on their first anniversary. Kieran had grown up thinking King Reginald was his father and his stepmother Queen Vivienne was his mother.

On his 19th birthday, King Reginald had called him up to his room. He said he had a surprise for Kieran. When Kieran walked into the room, he was a bit surprised to see Giselle and the King. What could be the surprise? He wondered.

A table with a crystal ball on it was placed at the center of the room. King Reginald spoke up, telling him that he wasn't his biological father neither was Queen Vivienne. Kieran was shocked by this revelation, little did he know that was the tip of the iceberg. He beckoned to him to step closer to the Crystal ball.

Giselle began to rub the ball, whilst chanting some spells. The ball glowed brightly. Kieran saw something in the crystal ball, he looked closely. He saw a vampire and his wife celebrating their anniversary. They were all smiles, dancing, and serenading one another with kisses.

Suddenly there was a flash of lightning and the couple was surrounded by witches. Kieran couldn't hear what they were saying but from the look of it, the witches didn't like the couple. The witches attacked the vampires. The vampires fought back but were outnumbered and the witches killed them.

King Reginald told him that couple he has just witnessed death were his parents. Kieran was dumbfounded, he didn't know what to say or how to react to this news. That day marked the beginning of his hatred toward witches.

Kieran showed no mercy to any of the witches he caught, he made sure to give them a slow and painful death. The witches had learned to hide themselves to avoid being caught but Kieran outsmarted them and captured a great number of them.

Kieran narrowed his eyes at him. "Cephus, I know you have an ulterior motive. You are not a vampire who offers his services on a platter of gold for free." He remarked. "Why have you come here?"

Cephus cleared his throat. "My prince, you are well aware that I am the most wanted vampire in Zanthes because of the murder of some humans and for theft too." He explained. " This act is punishable by death."

"Death by boiling," Kieran smirked.

Kieran had made this law and many more after the massacre of many humans in Zanthes. Some vampires believe the laws were outrageous. They still went ahead to kill humans. Kieran hunted every one of them down, captured them, and brought them to the palace where they were killed and made an example for every other vampire to learn from.

"My prince, in exchange for my help, I plead with you to tell King Reginald that you caught me and have taken me under your wing to serve you for the rest of my life."

Kieran narrowed his eyes at him. "Why would I do that?" he asked. " You were the one who refused to obey the laws and lawbreakers are meant to be punished not saved."

"My actions are justified. Vampires are people who feed on blood. How do you expect us to feed on vegetables and rice like these petty humans?"

"I must say I'm impressed by your courage." A deep frown appeared on Kieran's forehead. "You shouldn't dangle your life carelessly as bait in front of a hungry lion."

"I'm sorry my prince." He apologized. Cephus cursed his luck. He had come here to seek help but he was annoying Kieran instead. From now on, he knew he had to choose his words carefully.

"My prince, after the witches captured me, they kept me captive for about six months. During this time, I overheard some things."

"What did you hear?" Kieran asked.

"The witches are well aware of the fact that we know about the whereabouts of the chosen one and have sent their best warlocks to protect her. The princess of Danva is well disguised to pass as a human, which will make finding her very difficult." Cephus explained. "My prince, this is where my help is greatly required." A crooked smile appeared on his face.

"What do you mean?"

"My prince, I've been living amongst humans for almost a year and I can easily tell the difference between a human and someone who is posing as a human," Cephus replied. "My prince if you help me, I promise to help you find the chosen one." He begged, patiently waiting for Kieran's answer.

"I give you two days, if you can't find her I'll make you pay for wasting my time."

"Don't worry my prince, I find her," Cephus replied with an air of confidence.
