Bought by Blood

When the morning finally came, the Fairy woke up and saw exactly what it had cost Nightshade to gain her peoples freedom. Although the whip didn't make him flinch or even raise his guard, strips of flesh had been removed off of his body.

He stood outside the Old Mission Outpost barely awake, fist still clenched, and stained with dried blood.

"He paid for your freedom with a portion of his sanity. He believed that he could've saved everyone by simply acting as a balance in the world. Seeing you, sent him over the edge." softly said Euphrates.

Her eyes widened as she saw her people completely safe, free of their tormentor. Her gaze fell upon the man putting his jacket on, the other number of scars on his back was nothing shy of a miracle he'd recovered at all.

The Fairies watched him as he cleaned up the area around the Old Mission Outpost. Both He and Euphrates began making the place their new home. Even though he hadn't slept a minute, Nightshade took pride in bringing their new home to fruition. For as tired as he was, he didn't stop for moment to rest. This their home, and he'd make sure Gell had someplace to call home.

"Looks good Nightshade!"

"Thank you sir!"

The Fairy who'd been too weak to move yesterday, hit Gell.

"What was that for? I save your life!"

"Y-you're like him." she pointed at the ground where the slaver had been eviscerated yesterday.

"He is my summon, not a..."

She was about to hit him again when Nightshade caught her fist.

"He helped me save you, and I am loyal to him. I owe him my life."

Gell saw the hellish look in Nightshade's eyes when he looked at him.

Something had definitely changed about Nightshade, Gell just didn't know how much of Nightshade that slaver had awakened.
