37 – Gods vs The Old Ones ( 2 )
Iris had already left the place where Poseidon was hours ago. Some of the Gods were worried about her, but Hephaestus was calm, '' She is the fastest among us. Even if she meets an enemy, I doubt they will be able to capture or kill her.''
Poseidon then moved closer to Apollo and Hestia, who finished healing the mortals. In the village where they were, there were about 70 mortals. Souls wandered everywhere, but they were no danger to anyone.
Wanting information about the gods of this realm, Poseidon went to talk to the oldest of the group, '' Do you want to know the names and powers of our gods?''
Poseidon nodded, '' It's always good to know.''
The Elder, though finding it strange, decided to tell Poseidon what he knew, since his group helped everyone here, '' Okay, I'll tell you everything my parents taught me.''
''We have many gods in our realm, so this will take a while...''
The elder told Poseidon everything about all the Gods. It was a conversation of at least 3 hours, but Poseidon was listening carefully.
The names that Poseidon paid attention to the most were Ra, Thoth, Seth, Osiris, Anubis, and Isis. The rest he recorded, but the elder said that they are the most important Gods of the Realm.
''What about Demigods? Do you have them in your realm?'' Poseidon asked.
'' Demigods? Oh, you must mean a child between mortals and gods. Yes, they exist here too. But, for some reason, they didn't help us either.''
Poseidon thanked the elder and returned to his group. The Greek Gods were together amid the mortals, to defend them from any attack that might come.
When Poseidon arrived, Apollo asked, '' Did you get any information?''
Poseidon nodded, "Yes, but it was about the Gods of this Realm. They are very powerful, according to the information I received. But that brings me to another question...''
'' Which one?''
''If they were so powerful, how did the realm get this way? It doesn't make any sense.'' As soon as Poseidon finished speaking, he felt Iris enter his detection field.
'' Iris is back... and she is not alone.'' Poseidon armed himself and went away from the mortals, so as not to implicate them in the fight, '' Hestia, stay here and protect the mortals. If you suffer any attack that you can't defend, scream.''
Poseidon and the rest of the Gods, went near the location of Iris, who appeared in front of them, '' What the fuck is this?''
Apollo cursed when he saw what was coming toward them. They were half human, half octopus creatures. And there were at least 500 of them.
'That explains why the mortal cities fell.' Poseidon said and prepared for battle, ''Let's see how strong they are.''
Poseidon was the first to run to the side of Iris, who as soon as she noticed the presence of her allies, turned to her enemies and began to attack.
A swing from Poseidon and a creature died. But still, he was shocked, 'How is that possible! They have almost the same power as Alecto!'
Mind you, it was the old Alecto, before Poseidon transferred some of Hades' powers to her. Still, she was a powerful Demigoddess, now imagine 500 of her running around.
' We can handle them, but now it's explained why all the villages were wiped out. I doubt that the Demigods of this realm could handle these numbers. Worst of all, I doubt that this number is the total of the enemies.'
''Don't hold back! Those creatures are powerful.'' Poseidon shouted and continued the massacre.
The big problem for Poseidon in this realm, was that water was hard to find nearby, so even though he was the strongest among those present, Poseidon could not make enough devastating attacks to kill all the creatures at once. If he had a water source nearby, the fight would be over much sooner.
On the other hand, one of the gods that came with Poseidon was in top form. Apollo, who was often in the middle of the list among the most powerful Gods, received a buff when he came to the Egyptian Realm.
Poseidon and the rest of the gods continued to battle the creatures. A blow resulted in the death of one of the creatures.
As the number of creatures dwindled to 50, Apollo, who had stepped aside moments before to mount a powerful attack, shouted, '' Get back!''
Poseidon looked at Apollo and noticed that he had made a miniature Sun, and was going to launch it at the creatures.
Realizing this, Poseidon and the other Gods moved away. Not wanting any of the creatures to leave, Poseidon used his emergency jug, which contained a small amount of water, to create a cage around the creatures.
Hestia, who was with the mortals, realized this and also made a barrier to protect the mortals.
Soon after a big explosion happened, 'BOOM.'
After the sand smoke dissipated, the Gods noticed that all the creatures had died. They regrouped with Hestia.
''These are Chaos creatures... they are stronger than I thought.'' Hephaestus said as he remembered the fight.
'' 500 was a relatively small number, but imagine an army of millions... I don't know if we could handle it.'' Apollo said.
The Gods agreed with what Apollo said. Poseidon sighed, '' It doesn't matter. The situation hasn't changed much, we'll help however we can and we'll go on to help Kratos wife... Iris, can you tell us if you have found anything?''
Iris, who was quiet, started to speak, '' I found some Gods but ...''
''What?''
'' They were dead and their bodies... it seems that someone absorbed all their powers and vitality. There are only bones and remnants of divine powers left.''
The Gods present were shocked. Remember that, in the Greek Realm, the death of a God has terrible implications, since when Zeus died, all of Greece was destroyed. Of course, Evil had a part in this, but still, a God dying was not something normal or good.
''Anything else?''
Iris shook her head, '' No, that's the most important thing. These creatures were standing near the bodies, looking like they were absorbing the divine power that was left in place. When they saw me, they began to follow me.''
The group was silent. Hestia then said, ''But it doesn't make sense that these creatures could kill Gods. I've seen you fight, and they're not that powerful.''
''But what if it's like Apollo said and there are millions of them? Or even worse, a being with powers that exceed a million of these creatures.''
The group of Gods was silent again.
Poseidon, seeing that the situation was not good, said to Iris, ''Take me to the place where you found the bodies. The rest of you stay here and take care of the mortals. Block everyone's presence and try to avoid contact with these creatures.''
The Gods nodded and Poseidon and Iris went to the location of the bodies. Arriving there after a few minutes, Poseidon began to analyze the scene.
''7 bodies? No, it's 10. 10 dead Gods. This is unbelievable.''
Poseidon got close to the remains and touched them to see if he could find anything, '' Excuse me for this.''
He looked at them for a few minutes but he found nothing new.
''What the hell happened?'' Poseidon said aloud.
'' ... Maybe I can answer that.'' A distant voice said.
Poseidon had noticed someone watching them before, but he kept quiet to make the person appear willingly, be it an enemy or ally.
Iris, on the other hand, was surprised, '' Who's there!?''
Just then, an eagle landed near the scene and turned an old man who was missing an arm, '' Hello, outsiders. My name is Thoth, and I come in peace.''
' Pandora didn't mention him having only one arm...which means he recently lost it.'
Iris was still suspicious, but she let Poseidon handle the situation, '' Hello, we are Gods from another realm and we come in peace. We were going to cross the realm quickly, but something tells me you might need some help.''
Thoth's gaze changed when Poseidon, yes, Thoth knew who Poseidon was, mentioned help, '' I know it's asking a lot of you, but can you hear me out?''
Poseidon nodded and said, '' By the way, my name is Poseidon, and this is Iris.''
Thoth nodded to both, '' It is a pleasure to meet the King of the Greek Gods.''
Iris was shocked that Thoth knew such information, but Poseidon already knew that Thoth was smart enough to know.
Thoth then began to explain what happened to the Egyptian Realm.

SOMETIME AGO
Ra, the most powerful God of Egypt, called a meeting with all Gods. The location was the Chaos Gate that Ra was defending.
Almost all the Gods were gathered, except for a few who decided to ignore Ra. 'I expected this... the only ones I can trust with my life are Isis, Thoth, Anubis, and Bastet.'
Ra, noticing that no one else was coming, began to speak, 'I've called everyone here because I've discovered some worrying things. The creatures that are coming out of the portals are getting stronger. It used to be at mortal levels, but now they're like Demigods in terms of power... I fear that another invasion will occur, this time with more powerful beings.''
''What can we do to minimize the damage from a new attack?'' The one who asked this was Seth.
Ra thought it strange that Seth of all people asked, but he still answered, '' I alone will not be able to manage if another portal opens, so I ask everyone that if a new portal appears, you protect it.''
Ra noticed that only his trusted group nodded. Seth remained silent.
Suddenly, Seth started laughing like crazy. His reaction took everyone by surprise, '' Why are you laughing?''
Seth continued laughing for a while longer until he stopped and said coldly, '' It's just like they said. You pass on your responsibility to the other Gods... and to make matters worse, all to defend mortals, who are just insects!''
Thoth, who knew that Seth was a horrible God, noticed something worrying in Seth's outburst, ''They who?''
Seth snapped his fingers, '' Them.''
All Gods present felt dozens of Chaos portals opening across the realm. Ra shouted furiously, '' What have you done!?''
Seth, who was already ready to flee, said while looking at Ra with hatred, '' A small portal has opened near my domain. They spoke to me and made an irrecusable offer to me...Besides, you are risking the existence of our realm for mere mortals. They told me that they will leave the realm alone when all the mortals are dead... and all the other gods as well.''
Thoth was shocked at the stupidity of Seth, '' You fool! They're going to kill you too!''
Seth laughed, '' They promised me to be the new king of the Gods of this realm, as long as I do what they asked.''
Ra, realizing that even if all the Gods were to help the mortals, they would take too long, ''Many mortals will die today...''
The gods started to leave the place, but to everyone's surprise, there was a barrier around it, ' But how!? No one realized this!'
Everyone looked at Seth, who managed to escape the barrier, '' They are smart. They knew that as soon as you discovered that there was something wrong, you would act. So they asked me to let one of their beings enter the Realm beforehand and make this trap.''
It was then, that an evil presence revealed itself outside the barrier and near Seth. The creature looked like an eye, with several tentacles around it.
Seth bowed in front of this monster, '' I did as you asked! Most of the gods are here!''
The eye had no mouth, but everyone present could hear what he 'said', '' Very well ... you will be rewarded for your services.''
Seth thanked him and began to leave the place. Before, however, he had a doubt, '' And what about the gods who did not come?''
''They served as food for our people.''
Seth felt a chill run down his spine and began to doubt his decision, 'Did I do the right thing...? No! I can't think like that! I DID THE RIGHT THING!'
After that Seth disappeared, leaving the Eye and the Gods in place.
The Eye then looked at the Gods and 'laughed', '' Your realm was supposed to be the most difficult to penetrate, but look at the result! It only took one idiot, and you lost almost everything!''
Ra said nothing and attacked the barrier. The other gods did the same.
The Eye looked at the scene with disdain, ''Don't even try! This barrier is something our leader made with his own powers! Mere divine beings have no way to break the barrier.''
Ra looked at Thoth, '' Any ideas?''
Thoth was thinking, '' I don't know about their leader, but that being is strong, and so is the barrier... but we have a small chance.''
Isis, who was nearby, said, '' Tell us about it.''
'' It's going to be a long process, but I think it can work out...''

JUST BEFORE THE GREEK GODS ARRIVED
Thoth's plan was to attack only one location of the barrier, to see if they could open a hole. Of course, all while trying to distract the Eye that was with them.
Even with the Gods attacking, it took over months to open a hole big enough for one person to pass through. The Eye didn't notice the hole, because Ra was distracting him.
Thoth, realizing the opportunity, decided to leave, '' Let me go out and see the situation. He's distracted now, and if more than one God comes out, he might notice.''
'''Be careful.''' Isis said and stood beside Thoth, to protect him from the sight of the Eye.
Thoth nodded and started to pass through the barrier. The Eye, who was supposed to be distracted, suddenly smiled, '' Do you really think I didn't notice you guys playing there? Well, it doesn't matter anyway.''
Saying this, the Eye disappeared from Ra's sight. Ra shouted as soon as the Eye finished speaking, '' BE CAREFUL!''
But it was already too late. The Eye attacked Thoth, who survived only thanks to Isis, who blocked part of the attack. Both Gods were injured, Thoth lost an arm, and Isis was coughing blood.
The Eye held Thoth's arm with its tentacles and 'absorbed' the limb, '' HMMMM, you are very powerful! Too bad I have my orders, so I can't eat you!''
Thoth didn't even say anything and just ran. The Eye was going to run after him but from inside the barrier, Ra, Bastet, the injured Isis, and the other gods attacked at the same time.
And although they were not strong enough to break the barrier of the Leader of the Eye, these combined attacks could mortally wound the Eye.
The Eye, seeing this, stopped chasing Thoth and defended itself against the attack.
''ARGHHHHHH!''
Even though it was defending itself, the Eye was wounded. The Gods were about to continue the attack, but the barrier was suddenly restored.
The Eye said reverently to the air, "Thank you, my Leader!'' The Creature then looked at the Egyptian gods with hate, '' I will remember this!''
By now, Thoth had escaped far away, and the Eye knew it was impossible to find the God that easily. So the creature ordered some Chaos creatures to search the entire realm.
''By the way, you guys are the last group of living Gods in this realm. I don't know why the Leader is keeping you alive, but I'll follow his orders.''
'From the way he talks about this leader, he must be very powerful... and this Eye is already near my level of power...' Ra was apprehensive about the future.
The Eye laughed again, '' Now... shall I tell you what is happening in your Realm?''

WITH POSEIDON AND IRIS
'' And that's what happened.''
Poseidon and Iris looked at each other and saw the shock on the other's faces.
''This is bad!''
