Chapter 51

                   ~Author's POV~

"So class, I will be grouping you all in pairs for the project" Mrs Florence the history teacher said.

The whole class grumbled in disapproval.

"Hush! You're going to graduate soon. You have got to put in the extra work" She admonished a frown on her wrinkled face.

She had the frame of a woman who had seen it all. Her glasses already at the bridge of her nose that she'd always push up to glare at anyone disturbing her.

"I hope we get paired together" Pearl whispered to lan a cheeky smile on her face.

"Yeah me too" Lan replied. He turned to the side to stare at Damon who was looking out of the window seeming not interested in what the teacher was saying.

"Okay the list is ready.."Mrs Florence said sitting down on her chair, a sheet of paper in her hand.

The whole class was quiet as they all waited anxiously for who they'd be paired with. This pair was final. Whoever they get paired with they will have to work with till they graduate.

Mrs Florence was one to make sure the other teachers use the same draft.

No one wants to get paired with their enemies. So they were all on edge waiting. Imagine having to deal with that person till graduation. Horrifying.

Lan was also feeling nervous. No matter what he definitely doesn't want to get paired with Damon or his brother. Pearl or Mark would suffice.

He bite his lips, tapping his foot anxiously.

"Nex and Catherine....  " She called out. The pair grumbled. Nex going over to seat with Catherine.

"Bunny and William... Yvoone and Sandra... Rex and Green....."

The list kept going on and on scaring Lan when any name was about to be called.

Pearl held his hand tightly praying she gets paired with him. He was her saving grace of acing this class and graduating with a high grade.

"Nate and Genevieve.. Jacob and Willow...Pearl and Luke.."

Grumbles and sighs could be heard as the pair made their way to their partner for the rest of their school year.

"Why why..." Pearl pouted looking dissatisfied.

She patted Lan's shoulder and got up. Luke was her boyfriend yes but they weren't the brightest so it was going to be hard focusing and moving from the boyfriend to partner mode to work if you understand what I mean.

Lan bite his lips hard. His eyes connected with Damon who winked at him. He scoffed and looked away angry. Damon just pisses him off with his face.

"Anyone but him please...." He closed his eyes holding his hands tightly and prayed.

"And last but not least we have Lan and Damon. Remember to pick a good topic and start working guys. I will draft this out and give to your other teachers. And yes they'd be your pair till you graduate so try to bound..." Mrs Florence said a soft smile on her face.

Lan's lips were etched in frown. He couldn't stop glaring at the teacher.

He has been praying so hard not to get 'Lucifer' and now he has to put up with him for the entire term. Great!  He thought.

Once the teacher left everyone shuffled themselves, changing their seats to be with their partner and those who have, picked a good spot they can share ideas in.

Lan grumbled under his breathe and moved over to Damon's sit.

He dropped his bag hard on the table without care and sat down crossing his arms.

He stared at Damon who ignored his presence still looking out the window.

Lan's inside sizzled with anger.

'How dare he ignore me' He thought glaring at him.

He cleared his throat trying to gain his attention but Damon didn't react neither did he look at him.

"You know, we are now partners so talking to each other would be a great start" Lan said offended.

Damon sighed and turned to stare at him.

"Didn't you say I shouldn't talk to you? I was just listening to you" He shrugged putting up an innocent look.

Lan scoffed"Yeah right. Just when we got paired to do a project together" he said.

"So when and where can we meet up to discuss our project?" Lan asked. He wasn't one to wait.

"I'm not interested in doing any project so you can do it for the two of us. You are smart"Damon smiled patting his shoulder.

Lan brushed his hand of glaring at him. He doesn't mind doing it alone but it's called a group work for a reason. He won't be able to finish on time if he does it alone.

"You're not making me do this by myself. Don't even dare" He glared at him hard.

Damon sighed"Fine fine. Where?" He asked crossing him arms.

"My place. Tonight 6pm. Don't be late" Lan said.

Damon rolled his eyes "You should have just told me you wanted me to come over. What a lame excuse" He grinned.

Lan wrinkled his nose annoyed "Whatever" he replied.

"Hey.."

He turned back to see Mark standing behind him glaring at Damon.

"Oh hi. Who'd you get paried with?" Lan asked.

"Natalie" Mark replied. He held his shoulder smiling at him while at the same time glaring at Damon who observed their interaction.

"I see you got paired up with this one"Mark scoffed staring Damon down.

"And I see you didn't get paired up with this one" Damon attacked back grinning at him.

Lan gulped not understanding what their problem was. He kept looking back and forth between them.

Mark glared at Damon for a while before he walked away.

Damon ticked his tongue and chuckled.

"What was that about?" Lan asked him curiously.

"Why not ask your jealous boyfriend" Damon replied playing with his piercing.

Lan's eyes widened in horror. He turned around to make sure no one was listening. His eyes connected with Damon. He squinted his eyes at him.

"Oh don't give me that look. I'm not an idiot. He sure is territorial though." Damon chuckled.

"You have a knack for making bad choice don't you? Him of all people." Damon sighed in disappointment.

"The only bad choice I made was sleeping with you" Lan jabbed back offended.

"Ouch" Damon held his chest in mock pain.

"A mistake you just can't stop thinking about and I'm sure your little boyfriend isn't aware of it" Damon replied leaning closer to him a smirk on his lips.

"Don't kid yourself lan if you got a chance to do it again, you'd be jumping on my bone right now" Damon whispered to him biting his lips seductively.

Lan moved on his seat uncomfortable with the conversation.

"I refuse to understand what you just said" he said clearing his throat. His cheeks stained with a dust of pink.

Damon stared at him amused "Your brain is more rotten that you know" he said a smile on his lips.

Lan stared at him feeling more embarrassed. His nose turned redder than his cheeks. He nibbled on his lips embarrassed, forcing his eyes to look elsewhere. Damon enjoyed every moment of it.

"You look like a monkey" Damon chuckled and softly pinched his nose subconsciously.

Lan's eyes widened. Damon cleared his throat and pulled his hand away.

Lan looked down at his bag finding the design more interesting than ever. An awkward silence sat with them.
