Right Thing

Selena's POV

"Why do you feel guilty when you have his full support?" I asked, and Skyler looked so handsome that I couldn't stop staring at him.

"Well, I was expected to follow his footsteps and not to play basketball," he responded as he gazed at the stars while I looked like an idiot watching his face illuminated by the moonlight without blinking my eyes.

I turned my gaze away from his face and mimicked his action as he gaze at the sky above us; the beautiful night took my breath away. It was so quiet in the open fields, and I wished to lay flat on the grass where I could see the thousands of stars above us. The soft wind caressed my face, and I suddenly felt cold.

"You better wear my sweatshirt, Selene," he softly said, and when I turned my head and looked at him, I realized he had already pulled out his stripe sweatshirt.

"No, thank you, I am good," I replied, trying to pretend I was okay, but my body betrayed me; I couldn't stop shaking.

"Ha! You can't lie to me, Selene, you are shivering," he responded with a half laugh, and I was surprised when he put on his sweatshirt on me, and I felt like I couldn't breathe when I inhaled his intoxicating scent; I don't want to die young, but it felt like I had a heart attack.

"Thanks," I mumbled after I raised my arms so I could put on his sweatshirt, and my young heart was dancing with happiness, and I thought maybe Skyler and I could be more than friends.

As per Stanley, his brother would never confess to a girl since girls would be the ones to do it, and he used to have that kind of scenario. Girls would give him flowers, chocolates, greeting cards, and love letters.

Girls who get feelings for Skyler don't try to hide how they feel for him; some girls would confess to him in the hallways, cafeteria, library, basketball court during his practice, and even at the entrance of the boys' restroom.

It may sound ridiculous, but that is the way it is for the hottest boy in our school, who was sitting so close to me that I could almost hear the beating of his heart. I couldn't believe he loved the serenity of this place, far away from the city life he was used to, and the smile I saw on his face was priceless.

As I looked at the peacefulness on his handsome face, I realized he looked like an ordinary schoolboy and not the superstar that girls couldn't stop screaming his name during his games, especially after shooting three points.

Skyler was known as being the best three-pointer shooter not only in our school but all over Santa Clara, and during an inter-school game, I didn't want to go and watch him play because I always ended up brokenhearted.

Girls would surround him like bees, and the most beautiful and hottest girl would always win and get his attention, and that is why I didn't believe even a single word that Stan had told me.

There is no way Sky would like me, not even a tiny chance. Skyler was an impossible dream for me, and he is always near, yet so far. I was watching him from afar will always my favorite pastime.

I needed to be careful always because I didn't want anyone to find my deepest secret. Crushing Skyler was hard enough, and I hated myself that, at this very moment, I could tell I was falling more in love with him under the moonlight.

I don't want to have unrequited love, but I can do nothing to stop my heart from falling for him. I knew he didn't want to have a serious relationship with a particular girl, but after I saw him kiss Erika last night on his balcony, I had second thoughts, and Stanley's words confused me.

If Skyler had feelings for me, he should not kiss her when he knew I was living inside their property.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" He asked, and I suddenly felt conscious and guilty that he found me ogling at him.

"What kind of look?" I asked back as I tried to recover from my embarrassment.

"I don't know, and I can't put it into words; your family had been living with us. I mean, you reside at the log house not so far away from ours, and we almost see each other every day, but you are still a mystery to me, Selene," he responded, and I couldn't stop myself from blushing.

"Mystery?" I asked.

"Yeah, I find you fascinating; you are different," he said, and the way he looked at me with great intensity made my heart beat louder, and I didn't expect I would have this kind of conversation with Sky since I always avoid him even if all I wanted to do is to look at his handsome face.

"Of course, I am different from those girls you hang out with; they are cheerleaders, hot, sexy, and wealthy, while I am just your mechanic's daughter," I replied, and his face softened.

"That is not what I mean, Selene," he replied, and I wished he would continue, but he didn't say another word; he only stared at my face.

"My brother told me you haven't been kissed. Is that true?" He asked, and my face turned bright red, and I hated Stanley for telling his brother I didn't have kissing experience.

"Yeah, but I don't mind; I reserve my lips for my first love anyway," I responded, and his laughter reverberated throughout the entire field, and I wanted to cry with humiliation.

"Hey, I am sorry; I didn't mean to laugh because you have zero experience with kissing," he said when he looked at the expression on my face.

"Don't worry, I understand; it was not a big deal for you because you are popular with girls, and you have many girlfriends," I responded, and his face turned solemn.

"I don't do girlfriend things, Selena," he responded, and I fell silent as I hugged my legs and put my chin over my knees. He would only call me Selena if he wanted to make a point.

"Hey, I am sorry; I shouldn't have laughed; it was not funny; it's just about the first love you were talking about; I didn't peg you as a romantic type of person," he softly mumbled.

"Well, you can't judge the book by its cover," I replied.

"Of course, I just couldn't believe you would say something like that to me, and it moved me that you are saving your first kiss for the one you love while other girls would simply throw themselves to any guy who will flirt with them, and don't care who they will be kissing at the moment." He declared.

"I am not one of those girls," I replied in more than a whisper.

"I know, and your first love must be so lucky," he replied, and I wanted to tell him he was my first love, and I could feel the knots on my stomach when his eyes flicked from my eyes to my lips, and I hated myself from biting my lower lip just in time he was staring at my mouth.

"It would be a shame if you don't know how to kiss when you meet your first love," he said with a mischievous grin on his face.

"How do you know I don't know how to kiss?" I asked while my heart was hammering against my chest.

"Come on, you just confirmed you didn't have dating and kissing experience," he replied, and I could see the amusement on his face.

"I don't need to practice kissing to be a good kisser," I responded, and he laughed.

"Wow, you got me, but believe me, Selene, you do need experience; it would not matter

anyway, he will not know about it," he replied as he winked at me, which made my heart summersault.

"What do you mean by that?" I asked.

"You need a tutorial if you want it to be perfect," he replied as he looked me in the eyes without fluttering his eyes, and I could feel my entire body suddenly turn so hot.

"A tutorial? Are you crazy? I can't just ask someone to kiss me, and do you think I can do that, Sky?" I asked, and he nodded and pointed his finger at his chest.

"You can ask me for free; I can be your kissing coach," he responded, and my eyes turned big as saucers as I looked at him in disbelief.

"I don't know," I replied as my entire body felt like jelly. I held my breath when I saw Sky lean down, and the anticipation of tasting his lips was killing me, and when his lips touched mine, it felt like I was floating in the air.

He softly kissed me at first, and I almost panicked, and I didn't expect I would be kissing Skyler like I had been kissing him all my life, and I couldn't believe myself for kissing him back hungrily

He captured my mouth slowly, and I could feel myself mimicking his action; I felt Sky caress my back while he continued to devour my mouth, and I was catching my breath when he released me, and I could see a beautiful smile

on his face, and I covered my face with my hands.

"Hey, you don't need to be shy, Selene; it was wonderful," he said as he took my hands away from my face.

"You did great," he added, and I weakly smiled at him.

"You are only saying that to make me feel better," I replied, and he shook his head.

"No, you were right, you don't need a tutorial, but we can enhance it," he responded with a playful smile on his face as he looked at my lips again.

I don't know if I was doing the right thing, but this is what Stanley wanted; he asked me to flirt with his brother, and I guess I only fulfilled my best friend's request.

I felt guilty that I was doing it for myself, but watching Skyler with longing in his mesmerizing eyes made me want to have another round. And Sky didn't disappoint me, and I made out with him under the moonlight in a middle of an open field without worrying about the future.
