"Hey," Lina coolly greeted back. "You came."
"Yes, I did," Pete replied. "And I did say I'd come."
Of course, he did. But who knew he actually would? Maybe she did because these past few days, he had proven he does whatsoever he says and pleases.
Pete watched her from under the shadow of his lashes. She was evading his eyes, staring everywhere else but at him. And she had that stern and stoic look going on across her face again.
Were they back to this now? He mused.
Picking up a small box, she briefly glanced at him. "I have to set these up." She said, tilting the box towards him so he could see.
Pete glanced at it, and he knew what that box was, an excuse. And despite being able to tell she wanted to get away from him, he nodded and stepped aside and watched her leave.
His eyes followed her as she marched away. Her steps were precise, and they moved with the purpose of escaping him, something he was going to let her do for now.
