Nancy’s POV
Looking in the mirror for the tenth time, I ensure my dress and makeup are perfect. I managed to find a dress at GoodWill; a black floor-length, off-the-shoulder beauty. Luckily, I have nice black heels to go with it already.
Sadly, makeup has never been my specialty, so Jessie offered to help me. She went for a light look; some red lipstick, a neutral eye shadow, mascara, and soft eyeliner.
“Nancy, you look amazing,” Jessie raves from her unmade bed. “Do you know what will happen at this business get-together?”
Shaking my head, I turn toward her. “Not a clue. All I know is there’s a dinner involved. He didn’t say much about it.” I check the time and see it’s almost 6 o’clock; Ronnie will be here any minute.
“You don’t have class tomorrow, do you?” Jessie asks, looking back down at her school book.
