*Brynn*
“I need some air,” Brynn gasped. Her heart thundered in her chest as the pieces of the puzzle making up her life slammed into place. She didn’t wait for William to respond before she rushed from the chamber and into the light of day.
Snow crunched under her bare feet, but she didn’t notice the cold. In fact, she felt warm. Too warm. Heat again coursed through her as memories flashed through her mind. Once, they had been vague and confusing. But now, many of them held sudden meaning.
“Brynn,” William said softly behind her.
“They argued all the time,” Brynn said, turning to face him. “My mother and grandmother. I thought it was because I was different. And I WAS different, wasn’t I? Different from the whole village, but not from them. How could they not tell me?”
“Maybe they wanted to protect you,” William suggested.
