Sage, Caspian, and Felix were sitting in the dining hall. Sage sat at her own table while the shifters were at another. The sky was turning dark outside as students filed in for the dinner wave. Felix had found a more than willing siren to help them, but Sage wondered what the creature had wanted in exchange. Sirens were beautiful and cunning, they rarely did anything without their own motive.
But Sage didn’t have time to worry about the bargain he’d made and Felix hadn’t bothered to share. So she pushed it from her mind. Tonight, she needed to focus on getting into the hidden tunnel to where Nikolas had been spending a majority of his time. Hopefully, to find answers.
Caspian watched as Nikolas walked quietly into the dining hall, sitting across from Sage. She forced a smile. He somehow looked even worse than he had before. Her heart clenched.
“You said you had something you needed to show me?” Nikolas asked.
