"What did you give to my disciple?" Treasurer Meng asked, his tone sharp.
"It's just a technique of mine. You don't need to worry about it," Kate replied dismissively.
"You…" Treasurer Meng began, narrowing his eyes. "Are you one of Yang Kai's wives now?"
Kate smirked. "For an old man like you, you sure like to gossip, huh?"
Treasurer Meng's expression darkened. "I haven't forgotten your actions on the other side," he said sternly. "Even if it was for the bigger picture, you didn't need to meddle as you did. Sometimes, it's better to act only when it's truly necessary when the course of the future absolutely demands it. Why insist on playing the bad guy?"
Kate's eyes flickered with thought. He does have a point. I only need to interfere when Yang Kai is forced to break through to Mid-Rank Open Heaven… but still.
"You don't need to know my reasons," Kate said coldly. "For someone like you, your role has already reached its end."
"You…!" Treasurer Meng growled, his anger boiling over as he flew toward her. But just as he closed the distance, his body froze mid-air.
"I… I can't move!" Treasurer Meng exclaimed, his voice tinged with disbelief.
Kate approached him calmly, her gaze sharp. "How do you like that suppression?" she said icily.
Before Treasurer Meng could respond, two women appeared Li Rong and Han Fei. Both immediately moved to intervene, but Kate's command stopped them in their tracks.
"Li Rong, Han Fei don't move," Kate ordered, her voice laced with authority.
The two women froze, their expressions filled with shock. "Bloodline suppression!" they exclaimed in unison.
"How… how can you possess the Great Demon God's bloodline?" Li Rong asked, her voice trembling.
Kate's lips curved into a faint smile. "Yang Kai and I share the same roots. That's all you need to know."
"Same roots? How is that even possible?" Han Fei muttered, her confusion evident.
Kate turned her piercing gaze back to Treasurer Meng. "Your temper has always been short, Treasurer Meng. I'd advise you to cool your head. It's good for the weak."
"You…!" Treasurer Meng gritted his teeth, the weight of her suppression bearing down on him. What is this overwhelming force? he thought to himself, his pride and strength powerless against it.
"Then I'll go now," Kate said, her tone flat as she flew away.
While flying, her thoughts wandered. Since I already told a lie, there's no choice now. Based on Lelouch and Suzaku… since this is the world I'm anchored to, I'll have to see this through. I guess I'll just turn those lies into the truth, Kate mused, a wry smile tugging at her lips.
"This is so stupid," she muttered under her breath. Her shoulders slumped slightly as a heavy sigh escaped her.
"Why am I doing this ridiculous thing? I'm supposed to be a genius researcher, yet here I am, making stupid decisions over and over," she added, shaking her head at herself before walking forward.
After some time, Kate landed in front of a modest house. "This should be Yang Kai's parents' house," she thought, observing the surroundings carefully.
"Is someone there? Why don't you come inside?" a gentle voice called out from within.
"Looks like they know I'm here, but how?" Kate wondered, perplexed, as she opened the door.
Inside, she was greeted by a man and a woman. Bowing respectfully, she said, "I'm here to pay my respects."
"You must be Kate Apocalypse, right?" the woman said with a warm smile.
"Eh?" Kate was startled. "Senior, how do you know my name?" she asked, glancing between them. She must be Dong Su Zhu, Yang Kai's mother, Kate thought.
"Little Xia told us everything," the man answered, his voice steady. He should be Yang Ying Feng, Yang Kai's father, Kate deduced.
"Sister Xia?" Kate repeated, visibly surprised.
Before she could process further, Dong Su Zhu suddenly pulled her into a tight embrace.
"Senior?" Kate said, stiffening slightly as she realized Dong Su Zhu was crying.
"You've been through so much," Dong Su Zhu said softly, her voice thick with emotion.
"Senior, what are you talking about? I'm just here because I got lost," Kate said awkwardly.
"Indeed, you are lost," Yang Ying Feng said, his tone kind yet firm.
"That brat did you wrong," he added with a small sigh.
"Thank you," Dong Su Zhu said, her arms still around Kate, as if trying to offer silent comfort.
After some time, Dong Su Zhu said, "So that's how it is. Little Su told everything to Little Xia, and Little Xia told us."
"I see," Kate replied, processing the information.
"What are you planning now?" Yang Ying Feng asked.
"For now, there's nothing I need to do, but once we reach the Outer Universe, I'll begin my plan," Kate said, her voice steady.
"Then how about the matters concerning Kai'er?" Su Zhu asked.
"Little Xia told us that you don't plan on marrying again," Yang Ying Feng added.
"That's true," Kate said quietly. "I've committed a sin that can't be forgiven, so I must bear it."
"But Kai'er said you have a bet," Su Zhu said, curiosity in her voice.
"It's because I'm confident he won't be able to defeat me," Kate replied with a hint of seriousness.
The couple sighed in unison.
"Then, can you at least show us everything you've been through?" Su Zhu asked.
"I can, but you must not tell Yang Kai," Kate said firmly.
"We promise," they both replied in unison.
"Then please bear with me," Kate said, her tone soft but resolute. She activated the True Art of Marra, and the surroundings seemed to blur as she prepared to show them a memory.
I'll show them a movie they won't forget, Kate thought to herself.
Meanwhile, in a room with Yang Kai and Xia Ning Chang, Yang Kai lay on the bed, staring at the ceiling.
"Hmm?" Yang Kai thought to herself, sensing something unusual.
"Is something wrong, Junior Brother?" Xia Ning Chang asked, noticing his distracted state.
"No, let's sleep now," Yang Kai replied, though his mind was still preoccupied.
That evil technique... and the purity of that Qi... It's probably Kate, Yang Kai thought, What is she doing?
Here's the revised version:
After a few days of staying with Dong Su Zhu and Yang Ying Feng, Kate stood with them at the threshold of their home.
"It's time," Dong Su Zhu said.
"We're leaving this place today," Yang Ying Feng added.
"Let's go," Dong Su Zhu urged as the three of them departed, heading toward the Nine Heavens Holy Land.
After some time, the group arrived.
"Looks like everyone isn't here yet," Kate remarked, observing the area.
"They'll be here in no time," Dong Su Zhu assured her as they waited.
Before long, others began to gather.
"Who is that?" a Demon Commander asked, noticing Kate.
"She's with Sect Master Yang's parents, so she might be one of his wives," the Scarlet Flame Thunder Dragon speculated.
Not long after, Yang Kai and Xia Ning Chang arrived.
"Sorry I'm late!" Yang Kai called out as he landed.
Xia Ning Chang immediately approached Yang Kai's parents to pay her respects.
"I greet Mother and Father. I hope you two have been well," Xia Ning Chang said, bowing. She then noticed Kate and narrowed her eyes slightly.
"A Third-Order Origin Returning Realm?" Xia Ning Chang murmured, scrutinizing Kate.
"Little Xia, this is Kate," Dong Su Zhu introduced, causing Xia Ning Chang to blink in surprise.
"So, it's Junior Sister," Xia Ning Chang said with a polite nod.
"Hmm, I've returned to retrieve something from you," Kate said, her tone direct.
"And what does Junior Sister want from me?" Xia Ning Chang asked, her curiosity piqued.
"We'll talk about it later—" Kate began, but Xia Ning Chang suddenly attacked, cutting her off. Kate swiftly dodged the strike, only to land in a spot where Yang Kai was already lying in wait.
"YOU!" Kate exclaimed as she blocked Yang Kai's punch, but the sheer force sent her crashing through a wall.
"Sister Xia doesn't usually like to fight... so why is she doing this?" Kate thought to herself, regaining her balance.
"Kate, I want to show them how an Origin Returning Realm cultivator fights," Yang Kai said with a confident smirk.
"I see. Then I'd better fold you to scare them," Kate retorted, her voice laced with defiance.
"Look! I cultivated a new technique!" Kate shouted as she formed a massive ice cone in her hands, aiming it at Yang Kai.
"Huh? Her Qi is dropping rapidly!" Yang Kai noticed, his instincts flaring.
"EVERYONE, GET AWAY!" Yang Kai shouted, urging the crowd to retreat.
Kate unleashed the ice cone, firing it directly at Yang Kai, but he managed to teleport by tearing through space. When the attack struck, the resulting explosion unleashed an icy wave, freezing the entirety of the Nine Heavens Holy Land, leaving everyone in shock.
"So this is the technique she used to freeze that mountain in the Small Sealed World," Yang Kai thought to himself, surveying the frozen landscape.
"That's a really powerful attack a crowd control technique," Yang Kai admitted aloud.
"Tch," Kate clicked her tongue in frustration.
"Looks like I won't be able defeat her for now," Yang Kai thought. "I'll have to try again after I find Su Yan."
Suddenly, Kate coughed up blood, alarming both Yang Kai and Xia Ning Chang. They quickly flew to her side.
"What's wrong?" Yang Kai asked, his voice laced with concern.
"Sister, eat this pill!" Xia Ning Chang said, offering a recovery pill.
Kate raised her trembling hand to her face, staring at the shimmering golden blood she had coughed out. Amidst the golden droplets, a single drop of violet blood stood out, catching her attention.
"My transformation... it's really troublesome. It's limiting my strength!" Kate muttered before her body went limp and she lost consciousness.
After a year, in a house within the Sealed World Bead, Su Yan entered a room where Kate was recuperating.
"Junior Sister, how is she now?" Su Yan asked softly.
"Senior Sister, Junior Sister Kate is stable, but not much has changed," Xia Ning Chang replied, her tone tinged with concern.
"I see. For someone who wants to save Junior Brother, she's really risking everything," Su Yan said, a hint of admiration in her voice.
"Senior Sister is right. Junior Brother told me that she even shed her humanity to grow stronger, and that's why she's like this," Xia Ning Chang said with a sigh.
"Junior Brother mentioned that she should be purifying her blood," Su Yan remarked thoughtfully. "But... why did you attack her again?"
"Apparently, Junior Brother and Junior Sister Kate have a bet," Xia Ning Chang explained. "If Junior Brother defeats her, she'll agree to marry him again."
"I see. But she's made it clear she doesn't intend to marry Junior Brother again because of her self-perceived sin. Is it because she's confident he won't be able to defeat her?" Su Yan mused.
"Senior Sister, you were there when she showed the future. What do you think?" Xia Ning Chang asked curiously.
"Indeed, I saw them fighting at their peaks—the legendary Creation Realm. But since Junior Sister has a head start, she will definitely be stronger than Junior Brother," Su Yan replied, her expression serious.
"And why is that?" Xia Ning Chang asked, intrigued.
"It's because Junior Brother told her about his adventures in great detail," Su Yan explained. "She likely knows where every treasure is and who possesses them. Now that her cultivation is ahead, she's probably preparing to claim some of those treasures she knows she'll need."
"Senior Sister is right. Since she came from the future, she knows the events that will unfold. But it's all based on Junior Brother's memories, so there might be some inaccuracies," Xia Ning Chang added.
"Kate told me what happened on their wedding night, the day of the attack, and the very next day... Junior Brother Yang Kai dies in battle," Su Yan said, her voice dropping to a solemn tone as the atmosphere in the room grew heavy.
But then, the door suddenly opened, and Dong Su Zhu entered.
"Huh? You girls are here too?" Dong Su Zhu said with a warm smile.
Su Yan and Xia Ning Chang quickly stood up and paid their respects. "Mother," they said in unison.
"We were talking about Kate and the future," Su Yan said.
"I see. Well, I might be able to help," Dong Su Zhu said, her tone turning thoughtful.
"Mother, what do you mean?" Su Yan asked curiously.
"Kate actually visited your father and me to pay her respects while we were in the Tong Xuan Realm," Dong Su Zhu began. "I asked her to show us what happened in great detail, but we promised not to tell anyone, so I can only share a few things."
The room grew silent as Dong Su Zhu continued.
"Before she met Kai'er, the two of them were enemies. Kate hated humanity to the core. When the 3,000 Worlds were in danger, she seized the opportunity to help the invading enemy the Ink Clan. Kate and Kai'er were the aces of their respective sides, battling each other for thousands of years," Dong Su Zhu explained, her voice filled with both sadness and admiration.
"The two of them knew each other to their very core, and eventually, they fell in love. After Kai'er defeated the Ink Lord and secured peace for the 3,000 Worlds, Kate, being on the enemy's side, hid herself. But Kai'er searched for her across every corner of the 3,000 Worlds. Of course, he found her, forgave her, and everyone else forgave her too."
Dong Su Zhu paused, her expression softening. "After a period of peace, you all got married. Since Kate was his last wife, she was visited last on their wedding night. That night, Kai'er told her everything—his adventures, his regrets, his dreams. And after that talk, the 3,000 Worlds were attacked again. The very next day... Kai'er died in battle, leaving Kate alone."
Her words hung heavily in the air as Su Yan and Xia Ning Chang exchanged solemn glances.
"All of Kai'er's nine wives bore him children, while Kate had none," Dong Su Zhu continued, her voice heavy with emotion. "She was genuinely happy for you all and treated your sons and daughters as her own. In return, you all treated her like a true sister. But her sudden loss the weight of losing Kai'er couldn't just fade away. She entered a retreat and created what she called a Forbidden Divine Demonic Technique."
The room grew even more tense as Dong Su Zhu elaborated.
"This technique required immense sacrifice it demanded life force and soul to activate. That was when she did the unthinkable. She killed everyone in the 3,000 Worlds to come back here and change the future," Dong Su Zhu said, her voice trembling.
Xia Ning Chan's eyes widened in shock. "She... killed everyone? Did no one put up a fight?"
Dong Su Zhu shook her head solemnly. "By then, Kate was the only one who had reached the Creation Realm. No one could stand against her. She was unmatched."
Both Su Yan and Xia Ning Chang were silent, processing the revelation.
"After achieving her goal, she sacrificed her cultivation and foundation, managing to come back to this 3,000 Universe. By doing so, Kate Apocalypse, as she once was, ceased to exist. Her karma was erased. Her existence now is just... her," Dong Su Zhu explained, her expression conflicted. "At least, that's how she described it to me. I can't say I fully understand it, but that's the truth she shared."
"Kate's real name has been lost to time," Dong Su Zhu said, her voice laced with melancholy. "Now, she goes by 'Kate,' and 'Apocalypse' signifies the sin she caused. She lives only by a saying now, carrying her goal to save Kai'er this time."
Dong Su Zhu paused before adding, "And that is all I can share."
"I see, so that's the origin of her strange name Kate Apocalypse," Su Yan said thoughtfully.
"Mother, what is the saying she follows?" Xia Ning Chang asked curiously.
Dong Su Zhu smiled faintly. "It's this: 'You're the author of your own story. Make it a good one.'"
"I see," Su Yan said, nodding. "That is indeed a meaningful saying."
"She said she doesn't need to be forgiven, right?" Xia Ning Chang asked.
"Yes, she did. Why?" Su Yan replied.
"She doesn't really need forgiveness from everyone," Xia Ning Chang said thoughtfully. "The only ones who need to forgive her are those who know about that forgotten time."
"And she needs to forgive herself," Xia Ning Chang added. "Forgiving her isn't the issue—the real challenge is her forgiving herself."
"I understand," Su Yan said, her tone heavy with agreement. "But the real problem is Junior Brother Kai."
"Once he learns that Kate killed everyone he saved, just to turn back time and help him, he will be furious," Su Yan said, surprising everyone with her insight.
"You're right. I hadn't considered that," Dong Su Zhu admitted, her face paling.
"Maybe this is one of the reasons she doesn't want to marry him anymore," Xia Ning Chang suggested.
"Perhaps," Su Yan mused. "She might simply plan to watch over us, or instead of Junior Brother Kai, she might choose to make the ultimate sacrifice herself."
Meanwhile, within Kate's Knowledge Sea, she paced back and forth, her thoughts heavy.
"This is the first time I've ever lied this big," Kate muttered to herself, her tone exasperated. She could faintly hear the conversations happening outside.
"Ugh, I used to be such an honest person," she said dramatically, throwing her hands up.
Her gaze drifted to the swirling particles in her Knowledge Sea, each glowing faintly with corresponding elements. But her thoughts returned to the pressing matter.
"I really didn't think this through," she admitted, frustration evident in her voice. "Yang Kai's anger will definitely be a problem once he learns the truth. Did I just dig my own grave?"
Sighing deeply, Kate focused on the shimmering particles. "Let's put that aside for now," she decided. "I need to purify my blood first. If this continues, I won't even be able to move my body properly."
She sat down, closing her eyes to concentrate, the particles in her Knowledge Sea beginning to stir as she worked on stabilizing herself.
