Franco's Racial Selection

The world was golden. Too golden. Very Golden. Like someone used the filter effect to change what should have been green to gold. A forest of gold. The canopies glittering, the little grasses and flowers all golden except for a few adornments of colors that seemed to spice up the beauty.

The ground was a dirty brown at least. The tree barks white as snow with flecks of brown and gray on them.

"Only the leaves and grass it seems" I looked around unable to find anything around.

"Basic starting. Forest spawn. Perfect." With my words, a new prompt appeared in my eyes. It didn't come mentally but rather showed up in my eyes. Still, it remained large and clear enough to be like a proper screen to read.

Fascinating.

[You have spawned in Mestorn Forest]

[Please complete your basic settings before proceeding]

"Basic settings?". Another prompt appeared as the previous one faded off.

[NAMING]

[RACIAL SELECTION]

Mentally prodding racial selection I waited for it to fade and be replaced by three new prompts.

[LOCAL TEMPLATES]

Using one of the seven major races of the Creator. x2 of the racial attributes. Reputation points with the creator and other local race users.

[CUSTOM TEMPLATES]

Create your race. While not frowned upon, higher chances of alienation. and distrust is increased. The veto of race will be carried out by the Creator. An acceptable template would apply to generated core ability.

[MISC TEMPLATES]

Races absent from this universe. Will give fewer attributes and gains within the Star Rings universe but is more probable to increase outside. While not disliked or unknown this race will also have lower reception with others.

Not being able to see more, like each choice, or know what custom creating entailed bothered me. It was like the devs were hell-bent on letting us stagger through this.

I frowned with annoyance stamping my foot. The ground shattered beneath. me leaving me gaping before I watched it slowly patch back up.

'Terrain fix. Okay?'.

Focusing back on the prompts I couldn't help but wonder back to what A commenter had stated on a stream about the creator player winging it along.

'Still, I wonder what I can and can't give myself. Having a race that would agree with my core. I don't even know what exactly might is. Strength or power. Ah.'

While I felt it better to structure something that would adapt to my core instead of whatever was already set up, I also frowned at the risks I would be taking.

'Coming here after receiving the name was a risk. It doesn't matter. Over a hundred places and any could be a risk. I'll have to find something that will match my core instead of creating something off the bat when I barely know anything.

[LOCAL TEMPLATE]

[ARGONNE]

Rulers of the sky, a race attuned to grace and dexterity. While smart and conniving its strength should not be overlooked.

-------------------------------------

I wasn't convinced by these options. Their descriptions were way too vague and the stats for most of them were smaller compared to others.

It made me wonder about possible requirements or repercussions for them. A race like the Argonne and Elosas had 80 stats points spread in their attributes. Then there was the Qitsalrmer and Undule with 40 spread in their attributes. Lomrie, Evershu, and Argat had just 20.

"It's obvious players would go for the higher stats but I'm sure there's a catch. From advantage to disadvantage. Probably harder or longer experience points for leveling up. ' I kept looking over the options as I figured out my choice.

"While I can't see the advantage or disadvantage yet I'll just pick the one I prefer" I liked how with each option there was a hologram of what I would look like in my mind.

Creepy with the mental info dump thing but admittedly effective and nice. Finally, I picked. The options dissipated and left the template I chose.

[RACIAL TEMPLATE CHOICE CONFIRMED]

[RACIAL TEMPLATE PURCHASED]

'Wait what. Purchased?'The notifications ignored me as the next prompt came up.

[RACIAL TEMPLATE ARGONNE APPLIED]

I was filled out before, but now I felt heavy and solid. I quickly grumbled when I realized I had not even checked out myself before. Why I hadn't thought of something so basic earlier eluded me.

But now that I felt solid I realized why. Unlike earlier, I felt present. Before I had been here but felt nothing. Like I had nothing to touch the world with. It was confusing. Even more, now that I felt it now and not before.

I was huge, just like normal. My legs were muscled and my body was chiseled not bulked like some bouncer. I was covered in feathers that looked like a bird, leaving just my bare chest and around my crotch.

Two weights behind me brought my attention to the very huge-looking wings extending from my back with the help of feather-covered muscles. It was astonishing to see and feel.

I tried using them. It was like a piece of my mind extended to attach, like a set of limbs I always had. I don't even understand but that was how it felt.

I had talons extending out my fingers and my body was structured like a proper humanoid up to my feet which became beastlike.

"Interesting."

The sound of my voice made me realize that for just a bit in that dark place where I had chosen universes, I had not even realized how silent it was. Making me not even think of the silence around me till I got a body and race and spoke.

Like I was just hearing it for the first time it filled my senses

The rustle of tbe leaves, the chirps in the air. There was a scent of wood in the air and the soft tickle of the wind.

'How the hell does this feel so real?'

It was a very valid question. One that carried a lot of weight and made me realize indeed why Sir Jameson, no not just sir Jameson. The whole of creator online developers was sure of their game being a hit.

With this amount of mind-blowing realism, I was halfway to not freaking out about dying and being reincarnated somewhere.

"Status"

A prompt asking me to select a name appeared. Information entered my head too telling me the importance of a name and how to inscribe what I wanted the name to mean into it.

'Freaky and cool' Absentmindedly my wings folded in as I pondered what I wanted to stand for. Something I would always have to go by too since it would be my name.

The system was giving me the feeling that it would be important. Deciding I picked.

[Name given - Daedalus ]

[Say status to access your panel]

Excited I mumbled the word and waited. A slight pull in my mind had me noting the panel I was waiting for.
