The Voltar leader Khel'Rin has spoken of the Chimera, a creature that lives and guards the core of the lost world. Heavily saturated with the coldness of divine embers this entity has evolved beyond the limits of this lost world.

I sighed in relief at the notification as my body relaxed for a second.

"The pillar" I moaned as I pulled myself off the chimera's tongue and pushed my way to the little light peeking into the mouth. The mana depletion hadn't been complete since I still had just enough strength to move. Though I couldn't help but wonder why exactly it affected me so.

"Faith makes us. As we grow older we grow stronger from the accumulation of faith in our body. We also gain strength by gaining levels. When we use Fiery flame or Fury Armanents faith is converted into divine mana per unit and powers it. But converting faith unit depletes from the already stored EUF in our body. Which weakens us." I frowned.

Just how much fire did I use to burn the creature that hmI felt so weak?

"Besides, Doesn't this mean I'm sacrificing my strength to power my Flame and Fury? No. It doesn't make sense." I shook my head.

"But why then do I feel weak." I retraced everything trying to figure it all out. Then it made sense as I pushed myself through the fangs of Iigrazre.

Faith unit converted to Divine Mana every time would be stored within me too. Unlike the mortals who had mana kn their world, there was no Divine mana even in Dylaeria. Just mana. The EUF in us was untouchable unless for a one-time conversion when divine mana was depleted and used up for resurrection or respawning.

Respawning happened when a messenger was destroyed Its soul spark was recalled to the divinum to reforge a new body using its EUF. The amount of EUF as such determined how many times one could survive death. But it didn't mean that converting faith to divine mana was allowed as well.

Every cycle of rotation had a faith unit concerted to Divine mana. If expended within a cycle of rotation then one could convert another unit. The drawback of this was harsh though. The Divinum and our body knew we always needed Divine mana to survive in any or most situations. The actual conversion was always done along a rotation. This meant that by using our divine mana in little doses we could convert our energy steadily without even noticing.

But when used up all at once like I just did. The body and the Divinum sentinel would surely replace the divine mana at the same speed it was lost. The conversion though was severe and body-draining. As such the weakness.

Not from losing power but due to the rapid conversion ongoing within me.

"Note to self be careful how fast I use Divine mana. " I sighed. "But this also means that in a situation such as this, I would be toast. Need to find a way to get offensive without depleting or using my complete divine mana." I stumbled to my feet right as an arm grabbed me.

'If only we could use mana' I thought looking up at my helper. Otheren looked at me with a sheepish gaze. I just exhaled and gave a smile before looking to where Graden was.

The Pillar of Fire had shrunk a lot. Somehow the attacks on it had chipped at its fire. Several Furians and Voltars were steadily chipping away at its green flame. The effect though was obvious as the ground seemed to get rougher and drier as the Pillar tried siphoning more fuel from the world.

"We have to end it now before it burns out this world". I suggested.

"How exactly?" Arame's voice sounded behind me. "You look like you got eaten" she scrunched up a face making me ignore her and face Otheren and the few Furians that had gathered around us.

" We isolate the core from it. That way it won't have a way to replenish its fires."

"And how do we get to its core?." Another Furian asked. I simply looked at the dead Iigrazre and back to the fire pillar.

*

Graden bit his lips as the ground and his shield groaned from the fire assault of the pillar. Next to him a Furian dove into the safety of a stronger shield as his shield broke. Another Furian dropped from the sky using a fury armament to pierce through the flames and out the other side. A spear was flung by the Furian into the pillar followed by the black wave of fire that slammed into it.

Graden moved once the fires had died down to launch his black fire. The male was cut off by a loud din of shouts from above. Looking up he and the other Furians and Voltars watched a wired scene of several chain armaments holding up

Iigrazre. The beast was flown by a host of messengers as they dove from what must have been a long height and down straight for the pillar.

"Get back!"

Everyone moved as the large chimera's corpse plummeted straight for the pillar.

The resounding explosion shook the ground making most of them trip over. Graden watched as those Furians holding onto the chains slipped right through the gaping hole in the pillar right before it slowly relit itself.

"May the Mother watch you". Uttering the prayer he looked back to the scattered Kin. " Let's keep the pillar busy. Attack at will". A horde of attacks, red armaments, black fire, and lava spewed onto the pillar of fire with increased intensity.

*

Inside the pillar, Iigrazre crashed atop a stone boulder that a certain female would find familiar. I rolled on the dried ground and up to my feet far slower than I normally would have. I clicked my tongue at my weakness before rising and marching for the stone.

It was the only thing within the circle of the pillar of fire and the fact that several red vines connected from the boulder to the base of the pillar gave it away. Without as much hesitation, I formed a large blade of fury armament wincing at the pain in my mind. With a swing at I cut off the roots groping the boulder. Once, twice z thrice, I cut till there was none connected.

Everyone gathering around me at this point followed me to watch as a part of the pillar dissolved after getting struck from beyond. We watched as the light flickered on the pillar, black flames exploding green fire and red energy cutting away the green flames.

"It's beautiful" Arane laid her head on my shoulder her wings brushing against mine as we watched the pillar get ripped apart by those outside.

"Yet so wrong." it made me wonder. Was this The Mother's true lesson? Showing us the beauty in terrible things. Curbing whatever hesitancy we might feel in the future when accomplishing assignments. I had no idea, but I just felt it was the right thing to trust the Mother. 'It's not like she actually needs us'.

An explosion of wind and heat was the last straw as the pillar vanished in a gust of dust.

We all shielded our eyes as we waited for the wind to calm. Slowly we opened our eyes to look around as the last of the sands met the ground. Above the ash still rolled yet the lightning flashing within was gone. I couldn't help but think how lucky we were that the pillar couldn't bring down lightning. It would have made things much harder.

"I guess we did it" Graden was the first to speak as usual when his group met up with ours.

"Me surprised, yet we proud to have slain Iigrazre" Khel'Rin hit her palms together her cheek stretching a bit. Scary but not awkward.

"What now?" Otheren asked. Graden looked at him and then back to me. I raised my shoulder with a shrug.

[Hidden Quest]

[Pillar of Fire]

The embodiment of the cold embers of The Mother's divinity. The shadow of her beauty and the corruption of her goodness. Feeding on the true divinity from the raw world it had grown to be an ethereal existence. While sapient it lacks sentience.

I blinked even as three objects appeared before me. I stared shocked as everyone stared at it.

"Well go on" Graden urged sounding excited.

"There's only one" I warmed.

"I think it affects us all. We all saw the same notification if I'm to guess" he assured looking around in confirmation. Several of us nodded except the Voltar. I nodded before tapping the use for all the tomes and stones.

The tomes and stone shattered and from each light spilled. The stone let out a dark red lightning that flashed into our skulls at the same time releasing itself into the sky. The tomes' wash had signs and symbols, shapes that shot into our heads with a tingle and shock that the stone lightning lacked. Just like the lightning though most of the shapes and symbols vanished into the sky.

A ripple spread from behind us as the boulder rumbled and cracked. What rose, the ash cloud above rolled and the ground shook. Like the waves from a stone dropped in a calm clear water, so did the earth ripple and spread.

Through the turbulence, a light beam cut through the ash cloud and landed straight in the midst. Most of my Kin sighed while the Voltars stiffened in apprehension. The light condensed and dimmed into flesh and bone right even as I scratched my head.

'Of all beings, it had to be them. What were they here for? we could never summon ourselves either. I doubted there were mortals here to summon one of them. Unless it was the Voltars. No. It was unlikely.

The Voltars gasped their apprehension vanishing as the light faded leaving morning but perfection. It wasn't that our burials were kit as beautiful. But with Sacrosanct they were just picture perfect. Standing still his head tilted arrogantly, eyes going from one to the other. White wings spread in a glorious pose while the lower two arms rested on his hips and the upper ones were folded across his chest. Bands of golden metal gripped his arms and biceps tightly as well the one on his forehead. Piercing golden eyes followed my movement as I stepped out to meet him.

'Arrogant Divninas'.

"If it isn't she who challenged the Mother." His voice was deep and menacing. I noted Arane melting behind me while Graden shook his head.

"If it isn't one of the arrogant scum of the third ring." He glared as his folded arms unfolded and tightened into fists.

"Breathe your air with all gratefulness for the moment Mother sees you as the weak species you are it will be your last" he snarled.

"Is that.... by chance, a threat" I moved closer as I spoke in almost a whisper. Leaning closer he reciprocates in a whisper.

"Just a familial warning."

"Here's a warning. Do what you came for and leave. You wouldn't want to feel the mother's wrath now would you?"

"Isn't that what you lot are best at? Cleaning up the mother's garbage and taking down those who offend and despise her. We?. " he stared into my eyes with a grin showing off annoyingly pearly white. "... are her light, her radiance. and might". My fists folded as I listened.

" True. Too bad you lot were made too weak to handle the big package, at least the Gemini are useful." my head tilted as I smiled showing teeth while watching him smolder.

"Go on. Steam it all up big divina. When you are done do your duty so we can head home" I turned letting my wing slap into him as I walked away with a strut.

The Divinas snorted with a frown before turning to the Voltars who took a step back.

"The mother has noted your aid and as such grants you the purity to survive the new world". The Divina cupped the palms of his upper arms to his face while he spread his lower arms in a sort of prayer, wings stretching out fully as they illuminated in bright golden light. His arms spread as tbe light followed consuming the Voltars.

The world spun as we watched and we found ourselves dragged.
